We went to look at the Symphony at Olmsted Falls. They were very professional. The place is beautiful. Everybody who was living there was smiling and waving. They showed us their menus, which had different options. We passed one room and we saw a cat. They're pet-friendly. They had a little atrium with birds in it. The room itself was beautiful. The bathroom was gorgeous. There was a big bath and a walk-in shower where you could take a shower in private. We could even give my mom a shower ourselves if we wanted. The staff members were so helpful and wonderful. My mother loved them, too. They were unbelievably kind, and they explained things in a way that was easy to understand. The only drawback was that they don't accept Medicare. The place was very clean. Everybody was very welcoming and accommodating. The location was right in the middle where my sister and I live.

We chose Symphony at Olmsted Falls for my mom because it's centrally located for the family to be able to go and visit. The staff is great, they're just wonderful. I haven't tasted the food myself but my mother likes it. They have movie nights, bingo, they have one-on-one time, social time, they do journaling, they have a whole list of things. They put out a monthly calendar so the family can see what's going on and when. I have no complaints. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are especially large, mom has mobility issues so it works out well. But just like all of these places, it's so expensive that we're concerned she'll run out of money before she passes away.

We did tour the Symphony at Olmsted Falls. They're mainly memory care. They would give my parents enough activity as in assisted living, but they're not the right fit for that reason. Their apartment was too small for really what my parents need. There weren't enough amenities to make the two of them happy. They would have been perfectly good if it was just my mother, but as a twosome, they were not. They have an activity lady that keeps them doing things like yoga and stuff like that. It was a Sunday, and we didn't get to see much of that, and a lot of the residents were in wheelchairs. The girl that gave us the tour and the staff that we met were fantastic. The facility was pretty as far as visually appealing, but mentally stimulating for my father, not so much. The food smelled good. It's in the middle of nowhere, and there's not much around it. You could go sit outside on the patio, but there wasn't much for them to do. They couldn't walk to even a convenience store. They said they were going to take some of the residents to the fair this week, but it wasn't anything right for my parents at the time. Even the girl who gave us the tour said, 'I don't think your parents are ready for us.' The staff was very good. However, their apartments were way too small for two people.

Right now, we're considering Symphony at Olmsted Falls for my mom. I wanted more bang for the buck. It is probably the least expensive facility that we found that was a private pay. We felt that she would be comfortable there. I loved their courtyard. My mom really likes to garden, so that was something that she'll be able to do there. Her room would face the courtyard, which is nice because she's afraid of big trees. The level of care during the day probably was the same for most facilities that we looked at, and it was acceptable. This one's close to my home, so we would be able to go in and just make sure she's OK. The rooms were bigger in this place than the other facilities that we looked at, and they gave the same amount of care as far as bringing in other services to help like podiatry. They had two nurses on staff during the day and one in the evening. They seemed to have good activities directors that have been there for a long time. I just felt comfortable. They were just very friendly. In touring the place, the residents looked happy, and they didn't look out of it. I just felt very comfortable there.

Extremely understaffed, patients needs are not addressed or attended too. They over medicate to keep from having to deal with the residents. The residents spend all there time alone in there rooms, activities are non existent. Management says what you as a family member wants to hear with no intentions of following threw. Give strong reconsideration to placing your loved ones in this facility.

Positives: Most of the staff were kind, friendly and caring. Negatives: High turnover of caregivers made it hard for the staff to acquaint themselves with the resident's needs and preferences. Some caregivers were ill-suited for this highly demanding environment. This is a critical issue, especially given the difficulties of cognititively impaired people to express themselves. IMO could use more staff, given the amount of assistance required by the residents. Therefore, I believe the advertising which emphasizes personalized care is not accurate. Those considering this facility should adjust their expectations accordingly.

The staff at Symphony at Olmsted Falls makes this tough journey so much gentler. They are patient, caring and always have a smile and a shoulder to lean on. The facility is clean and bright, the food is top notch, and there are lots of entertainment options. Put your trust in Symphony. You will be glad you did.

My mother was a resident for a year. I am very pleased with the care she received. If I had a problem I would let administration know and it was taken care of promptly. The care is excellent. The nurses, caregivers and food service and even maintenance are always there to help in any way. The facility is the right size where you don't get lost in the size. My mother was happy there. I would urge anyone to visit this facility for a loved one.

Majority of staff members very nice and kind. Facility smells like urine constantly. Complete lack of communication amongst nurses/shifts/management. Disregard for physician orders. Frequent incidences of lost clothing from laundry (undergarments). Questionable follow through on critical policies. We moved our mother after 4 grueling months of sub-par care.

My mother is in Symphony. The people seem very nice. She has not been there very long, but I can tell it is a first-rate place. The cleanliness is first rate, and the food looks good and well prepared. The staff is very friendly and cares about their business.
