I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I give it a one because they didn't have a zero. In September, my mom had a stroke and she needed rehab. Her throat was not able to swallow. So they had to put a feeding tube in through her stomach, and they had a Heron. A continuous feed machine and some of the aides did not know how to work. The machine. Also some of the AIDS and some of the nurses were very smart. And irritable, there were some good nurses, and there was some good aides, but there was 2 nurses, and I think 3 aides that were not. What are the The nurses got upset and she stormed out the door and slammed it one of the aides that had to diaper my mom because she is an invalid and has to wear adult diapers, and she has a sore on her bottom and was supposed to put some ointment on it. She forgot to do that and when that she was reminded, she should have she got mad, used the F-word stormed out of the door and slammed it. There was a cat fight between an aid and a nurse in the hallway could be heard by everyone in that hall very unprofessional. My brother stayed the night with my mom because she was afraid to be by herself there at night. Because of the AIDS and the nurses not being very nice. When I came to see her 1 day she said she needed to be changed. And that was about 6 o'clock. So I pushed the call button. No 1 came 615, no 1 came 630. No one came. I went out to the nurse's station, and I said, my mom really needs to be changed. I will make sure that someone is in there. Soon quarter 7 no 1 came 7 o'clock. No 1 came 715 no 1 came. I went back out to the nurse's station, and she says, well, it's shift change. Now and I says, well, it wasn't shift changed at 6 o'clock when I push the button. I left at 745, still no one can Amen, my brother came and he said at eight fifteen still, she was not changed eight thirty still. She was not changed so he said he changed her himself and she was soaked to the brim. That was ridiculous. My mom says I would push the button and nobody comes. So there's no reason to push that button. She wasn't being bathed on a regular basis. We had to ask one of the ladies that comes to our house to help. Take care of my mom to come in to the rehab center to give her a bed bath. And she said she had feces in places that she should have not had it, they were not cleaning her up after she would have a bowel movement. My sister-in-law, who is a nurse came in one Sunday and cleaned. My mom up again ridiculous. My mom had to be changed in the middle of a night because of a bow movement. The aid took the diaper. Put it in the bathroom. My brother took a picture of it and asked if someone would come and remove it, and it was a couple of hours before anybody did. She was supposed to have appointments made to go see different doctors. They were not made Because of all the other things that was happening and we couldn't get any answers or anything done.We had to contact the Obudsman and then they contacted the facility and things were starting to get done. But they were getting done with a bad attitude. What are the appointments was for the urologist? Because she was having utis way too much. And he had said that she needed to be changed more often, and he wanted her on an I. V, well, those orders were not carried out. She had end up going to the emergency room three times while she was there in two and a half months for different problems, and each time the doctors would write an order. Those orders were not carried out. Is our fault?I guess for bringing her back here. This makes her second time. She was here. The first time was no better, but my mother wanted for some reason to come back here. The last time she was here she was wearing depends, and they were doing the same thing, not changing her often enough. And again, they had changed. The dirty depends and put it in the bathroom. And when I came to visit, my brother was there. And I said, what is that smell? He goes, it's a dirty diaper in the bathroom and it's been in there for 4 hours. He left, I stayed for a while.I went to the nurse's station, and I said, I want that dirty diaper out of there.Oh, we will send someone soon to come and get it four hours later.Someone came and got it. And after time also there was a woman across the hall, and we got to talk with her daughter, and she said that she had to really get on the nurses about her mom.She said they were not coming in to clean her.She goes, i've cleaned her up four different times myself, and she says she cannot get up by herself. She needs help, and she said that one day she was not there to help her mother. Her mother needed to go to the bathroom so her mother pushed the call button, and they didn't come. For about forty minutes, they did put her on the toilet and told her that when she was done to push the call.Button, and they would come and get her.She pushed the call button and said she was left on that toilet for an hour before they came and got her.She said, I told them that either you start doing better by her or I am going higher up.She said they were doing better, but they were having an attitude. She ended up taking her mother out of there and placing it at a different rehab center. I guess we thought this time.It wouldn't be as bad.Well, it was worse to the point to where we had to get the Obudsman involved. I was there another day, and my mom said, I have to go to the bathroom.I says, well you got a diaper on go ahead and go well. It's already pretty wet.I'm afraid if I go.I'm gonna go all over the bed, and I says, well it's not your fault.Go ahead and go anyway. No, I don't want them to come in here and yelling at me.Because they have to change the bed. It's awful when someone is afraid to go to the bathroom and they are holding it because they might get yelled at forgetting the bed Wet. Before they put my mom on a continuous feeding to monitor and they were feeding her through the tube regularly. You're supposed to before you feed them, have them sitting up straight they weren't doing that. She was laying back flat, and she aspirated, had to go to the hospital because of that. They didn't know how to feed her. Got back from the hospital, we told them about it.And you wouldn't believe how many times we had to remind them, make sure she is setting up. And so they put her on the continuous feed monitor and that was a lot better when you can get an aid that knew how to work. The thing.. This is just a little bit of what we've been through this past 2 and a 1 months. Maybe if you were in there for rehab, for something to where you can still get around and function on your own.It might be better. But what I have found is if you are an invalid and you cannot get out of bed.You don't get the care that you are needing again.I gave it a one because I couldn't give it a zero and we will not ever be back here again. Not for her or anybody else that may need rehab in the family.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My uncle was here for less than 2 weeks after falling and breaking a leg. Hated everything about it as did I. Ownership had changed after both my mother and father had been residents. He escaped by getting sick enough to be transferred to a hospital at 3 am. While there, I had him transferred to another facility. Since then, any bills and/or mail has never been forwarded to his new facility and all of his belongings mysteriously disappeared. Would never recommend. Buyer beware!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was here just for a couple weeks for rehab. I thought it was ok, but she hated it. She said the nurses were really mean to her when we weren't there. She has Covid brain fog and gets her facts confused, so I'm not sure how true that is. She was given the same food every day, so a lot of days she didn't even eat. Sometimes they didn't even get all 3 meals because they were out of food. My biggest concern... my mom needed a lot of therapy for her recovery. She was telling me that she was taking 22 steps with her walker and was really improving. Well, they decided to discharge her because they said she wasn't improving. I'm not sure which is true because the therapists completely refused to speak to me and give me any updates. We brought her home and are in the process of setting up home therapy, but we have no idea what to tell them because we don't know what she was doing.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

A relative of mine stayed at the Riverview Pointe nursing home. I like that the residents each get their own room and the rooms were fine. I believe they were understaffed, though. Two people are supposed to be in the bathroom with her to help, but no one was holding her and she fell and hit her head. Her face had bruises. I know that they have a high turnover of staff too. I think they should improve on patient care and activities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has lived at Riverview for a few years now and I am amazed at the wonderful care she receives. It doesn’t feel like a nursing home and never smells like a nursing home. It is clean and homelike and extremely friendly. My mother enjoys activities and has made several friends along the way. The managers are very knowledgeable and are always able to answer any questions we have. The floor staff is always smiling and you can see how much they care about their job. I couldn’t pick a better place for my mother to be.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The long term staff took excellent care of my mother, who was with Riverview for over 9 years. No place is perfect, and at every place one needs to advocate for the best interest of their loved ones, but the facility is filled with some true angels, who care deeply about their adopted family. I looked at 7 facilities before placing my mother, and this was far superior. It passes the "sniff" test, it is clean and the décor non-hospital like, and the staff attentive. Of course, in my opinion they need more staff and some were better than others, but that's always the case. My concerns were always addressed. My only important complaint is that items were stolen from my mother's room after her death. Horrible, but likely the actions of one person.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have had both parents cared for by the wonderful staff at Riverview Pointe. I can't say enough about the support, welcome, and attention they have given to them and our entire family. It's never easy to cope with aging parents, but Riverview Pointe helped us along the way and would recommend them to anyone facing this challenge!

I visited this facility

I visited n this place back in July of 14 They gave me a tour and was nicer than where Mom was and smaller wings and more nurse stations. Possibly try a little physical therapy in bed to help her. No one called when promised put on list. I called 3 times in 3 weeks always being told no openings yet. Social worker at Riverview never called as promised. Mom passed mid sept 14 writing this 4/7/15. Still no communications Waiting to see if they will ever call. poor communications with prospective families.
