I went to look at McNaughten Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and I liked what I saw when I was there. There were a lot of activities going on. There were a lot of people in the hallways, both nurses and residents. There were many caregivers, so that made me think that my mom would get good care there. We walked around, and she showed me different areas that they had. If my mom were to go there, it would be a semi-private room. They do have private rooms available for an additional cost. It's more of like a hospital type. They have a toilet and a sink, but there's a communal shower. They were showing a Tina Turner video in the activity room, so the residents were all gathered around. They do offer therapy. It's more of a traditional nursing home, but they have outside areas and a really large courtyard. They have communal areas with chairs and stuff. Everybody was friendly and nice. The facility was nice and clean, but it's just not home.

The staff at this facility, particularly the nurses and social workers, are so kind to the patients and treat them with dignity. I am especially familiar with the Four Winds (mental health) and Shari's Place (dementia) units. The staff really goes beyond the extra mile to give these patients dignity and quality of life in difficult situations.
