"The staff was great, always responsive and courteous and focusing on my great grandmothers needs. They offered great food and had specialists on site. With a fun event planned nightly for the residents, and even the occasional field trip, the made sure everyone received the proper care they deserve and need. They only things I saw that i thought need improvemnet was the building itself. The structure in which the retirement home is in was over 100 years old and need to be updated or remodeled pretty bad. Not saying the equipment wasn't up to date because it was just the actual building itself. Also there was as light smell that loomed through the halls that did leave you wishing you could cover your nose. But other than that there are no other complaints with them. South Shore Rehab providing great service and attending to my needs but mroe importantly my great grandmothers. "

"At Hill View, they are great. They are friendly, super, and much cheaper. It is built around a lake, so the residents have an even better view. They could look out over the lake and see the ducks, the chickens, and the trees. I really like this community. At Hill View, they have a friendly staff and good food. Bill's mother is very happy there. Regarding their apartments, you got new carpets and paintings, so that makes it a little bit nicer. They have tons of activities. They have a little store there which the residents manned. The bus takes them to different places during different days. They will have a picnic outside rather than eating inside, so they're always doing something for the residents to make it fun. "

"I have a grandmother that is a resident and have visited Hempstead Manor on many occasions. The staff is very friendly and genuinely cares about it's residents. They go above and beyond the call of duty to see that all are taken care of and given the utmost loving care.Every room is outfitted with a television and restrooms that are kept clean and serviced more than frequently. Residents are also invited to the crafts room where they can play various games, participate in exercise, work on various crafts and art projects, or just chat and socialize. The only negative thing I could say about this facility is the dim lighting and color scheme can sometimes be a bit of a downer. The lighting gives it a dim, yellow look that isn't easy on the eyes. Still, this is an exceptional facility and one that should be recognized for it's hard work and accomplishments. "

"Oakmont Manor was clean. It looked nice, and it's got good staff. They had shared rooms and private rooms. They also had really good physical therapy and activities. They go fishing and do crafts. They take them shopping and to get their hair done. The person who toured me around was nice."

"My aunt was transferred into Edgewood Manor after her schizophrenia was too much for the family to handle. Upon my many visitations to see her I encountered several things at the nursing home which made me feel empathy for my aunt. Several things that I can recall off hand consists of: cold/hot temperatures, room temperature (70 degrees) seemed to be nonexistent, shortage of nurses, dirty rooms and sheets, little to no planned activity for the elderly to enjoy, and little to no passion from the caregivers and faculty were evident. My aunt always complained of the way they treated her. With her condition, it is hard to believe every last detail she grasped upon, but I know that there was truth in some of the things she said. The elderly looked miserable, which I am sure, has been brought on by more than just the nursing home itself, but I believe that a nursing home should act as a second home for those who have no one else to take care of them. Edgewood Manor seriously felt like an abandoned hospital. It was cold and damp during the winters, as though it hadn't been insulated properly. During the summer it was sweltering hot, and most of the patients were incapable of shedding their clothes in order to perspire. There is one dining area, which also consists of two old 24 or 32inch screens that I could barely see or hear, even though all of my senses are still in tact. I can only imagine how miserable those elderly people must be in there. They've already lost and or been abandoned by their families, only to be trapped in a facility that is populated by a money hungry staff. That place needs a serious dose of passion for our elderly citizens. "

"My mother has been a patient of Harbor Healthcare of Ironton since March 2021. Over the course of her time there, my mother has received the upmost care from all of the employees. Every employee that interacts with my mother always strives to make her feel comfortable and cared for. It isn't just medical staff that shows my mother good care and hospitality. It is everyone from the administration team, housekeeping, and the food service employees. Over the course of my mother's time at Harbor Healthcaare, I have always had a great relationship with the employees. They have always been attentive to my concerns as well as my mother's needs. I always feel that I can go to someone with my questions and concerns and I am confident that they will do everything in their power to help my mother or myself. My experience, as well as my mother's experience with Harbor Healthcare has been stellar since day one. We have great respect and a great relationship with all the employees at the facility. I am greatful for each and every employee and their dedication to the well-being of their patients in Ironton. I wll be forever greatful for the love, care and compassion they have shown and continue to show my mother. Respectfully, Kimbely Royal"

"My mom was at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center for rehab, and it was excellent. She was in a shared room (they also offer private rooms), and it's nice. She said the food was fine. They have a lot more volunteers coming in quite often than the other facilities. They have done some trick or treating and different things like that. They do shopping trips, as well as church services and crafts. There are people that come in like groups/volunteers. Their calendar looks pretty full."

"My mother has moved into Kingsbrook Lifecare Center. It's been great. They've been good to her, and it's a clean facility. There's plenty of staff to care for people. They're not waiting for half hours or hours for attendance. They keep good staff. She likes the food. She brags about how good the food is and there's plenty of it. The rooms are very roomy. There's plenty of room for a guest and a wheelchair to get in and out. They have a lot of activities for the residents. They take them on outings. She hasn't been there long enough to enjoy any of the other stuff, but so far, she's really happy with it. All the nurses are very kind and attentive. They don't just fill it with a bunch of people to change a bedpan. They've got LPNSs and RNs and plenty of qualified staff. The landscape is good in the summertime. She's been there before, and there are a lot of places you can take them for walks outside. The facility itself is really kept up nice. They're a part of the University of Kentucky and King's Daughters Medical Center, they're all in one, so they keep it up. From what I've seen from other residents, it looks like they have a lot of activities. Value for money is good. Everybody would like to get a cheaper price, but compared to prices in Kansas City where I'm from, they're half-priced. You're talking $404 a day in Kansas City, and here you're talking $202 a day. That's a big difference in prices, so you're getting your money's worth."

"This facility took care of my great grandmother in such a way that all of our family was put at ease by her being there. The staff are so friendly and willing to go above and beyond for all of their residents and their families. There are several different activities that they plan monthly for the residents to enjoy and take part in. The facility itself is beautiful and you can tell the staff take pride in what they do."

"Heartland of Jackson has an excellent rehab program. My mother-in-law enjoys their activity program and she has gone out on a lot of outings. The ability for her to stay involved in the community is good. The personality and the personal touch of the staff have been great. I personally haven't eaten with her there, but my mother-in-law likes their food. She eats very well. I was there yesterday when they served lunch and it looked very good."

"I had to be in PHM several years ago for Physical Therapy and treatment of foot ulcer. They have a very caring Nursing Staff in that they p are personable and caring. The Nursing Home was kept very clean and residents and patient areas were very clean. They have a very nice and new area for Physical Therapy and patients were housed very close in location. A plus in my book. They need more staff for evenings and night shift. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact they need more nursing staff in the times I mentioned, my overall experience was very well. I miss the staff that took care of me. :) "

"My parents were patient's of this facility. My Mom was diagnosed with Cancer and needed constant care and my Father had dementia. The facility worked very hard in getting them a room together and succeeded. Then my Mom passed away and they were able to transfer my Dad to the Apple Ridge Ward (Memory Care). The nurses at both units were very friendly and helpful. And after Mom passed away, they were very attentive to my Dad's needs. My Dad passed away recently and the staff helped me so much. The staff are the greatest and communication was fantastic. Love this facility. I thank them for all their help in this trying time in my life. "
