"The Village of Heritage staff works hard to give their home a cheerful feeling. It is seasonally decorated, and has seasonal activities. Meals are very good; when I visit my family member I have sometimes eaten in the dining room, which is restaurant style, open seating. It makes meals pleasant. The staff are very cheerful, caring and knowledgeable. They seem alert to changes in patients' condition; they communicate this appropriately to the family as well as supervisors. Most of all, they are truly caring and helpful, being very calm with people who are impatient, forgetful or upset. The total staff, including maintenance and kitchen crew all seem to be well trained and have their heart in their work.The facility has a large family meeting room, with games for kids and a TV, a room for crafts, and a nice dining room. In addition, there is a seperate room for parties, if families wish to hold parties and get togethers at the facility. A bus with a wheelchair lift is available for outings and shopping trips, as well as medical appointments. A doctor comes to the facility regularly. The local community supports this nursing home with lots of community involvement. Musical groups and church groups come to perform. Since it is a smalll town, a person can come in and visit 2 or 3 old neighbors together in one of the public areas of the home, or outside in nice weather in one of the gazebos. Residents are encouraged to have bird feeders, etc, outside their window. The grounds are nicely landscaped and there is a wheel chair acessible path through the grounds. Efforts have been successfully made to make this as pleasant a place as possible. "

"I loved this facility. The meadows is a nursing home/ rehabilitation center. My father in law and grandmother both stayed there for a short time and a friend of mines grandmother lived there. They have many activities to keep everyone busy. The facility is very clean, the staff is very professional. They have it set up like streets rather than a regular nursing home so while you are in there if you visit this street you know you are going to play cards ext. therefore patients feel more like they are at home as most of them can not go outside. The staff is very family oriented also and provides things for families to do during visits including a coffee and sweets bar. The environment is very relaxing and friendly. "

"My wife moved into the Springs of Lima. The facility is relatively new and it has easy access designed specifically for people like my wife. Each room has its own bathroom that is wheelchair accessible. The room is large enough to have two chairs besides a bed and a place to eat within the room. The facility is totally staffed by nurses and aides that are trained specifically in health care of disabled people, and they're all pretty good. There's one or two of the staff members that are a little rougher than others. My wife doesn't appreciate the way they move her around very much, so we seem to gravitate more towards the people that are a little gentler in how they handle her physically. The food is good and they do some activities."

"Swiss Village, Inc. is a wonderful facility. It is clean, bright, and open, which makes it feel less like a medical setting and more of a home. The majority of the staff I encountered were friendly, helpful and polite. However, there are a lot of teenagers employed there so I can't say I've never experienced a bad attitude from an employee. The campus is quite large and has assisted living and villa type homes as well. Before my grandmother's decline, she participated in an array of activities including games, wheelchair exercises, watching movies, etc. The chapel is not far from the nursing wing, which is important to a lot of the residents. There's also a daycare at the facility and occasionally the children will go for walks through the home, which the residents love. There are birdcages and fish tanks throughout the facility that the residents provide entertainment for the resident and visitors alike. The nursing staff kept us up to date when it was my grandmother's time to go and was very supportive in our time of grief. It's difficult to put someone you love in a nursing home, but if I had to put my parents anywhere, I'd want them to go to a place like Swiss Village. "

"My dad was in Chalet Village for a few months now. His room is fine and it's spacious. The staff is friendly and helpful, but more of them are needed. It is a lockdown facility and my dad has a tendency to wander, so that was a helpful thing. "

"My mom was a resident at The Greens. They have a living room and a dining room. It has a nice and spacious area. The living room has a fireplace, bookcases, and a television. It's homey and has recliners for the residents. The kitchen is in the same great room and has counters around it. They cook the food right there, and it smells really good. They do their laundry right there on site. They have a hairdresser that comes in once a month, and one free appointment is included with their payments. The bedrooms are large enough. They try to keep the residents out socializing with other people. My mom had her own television, a recliner in her bed, a dresser, plenty of storage space, a huge bathroom, and a shower. You could even roll a wheelchair into the shower. When they walked into the bathroom, the light automatically came on. They had outdoor areas where the residents could go outside when it was nice out. They had an enclosed courtyard between buildings. They had bingo. They had times where they had groups who came that would sing for them or play the piano. They had manicures. They had a whole list of activities all the time. It was a nice facility."

"Lochhaven had three floors. We looked at the apartments on the first floor for level 1 residents who don't need that much attention. They had assisted living people if you need them. The staff who led me on the tour was very nice, and I saw a lot of activities on their list. They had a very nice greeting room with a big fireplace that was very inviting. The place itself was clean, and they had a library and a nice big patio where people could go out and sit. It was very nice, and I liked it. The first floor looked like an apartment building, and the higher floors were more for assisted living."

"Otterbein St. Marys is a step down place in between. You start out with independent living, and then you can go to hospice facility. I think they’re great. They seemed clean and nice, and the people seemed well taken care of. The layout looked nice, and they have various ways to get in to the place so to speak. "

"I am really impressed with Shawnee Manor’s quality of care. They’re generally concerned with their people there. My mother went there in December. The environment is very clean, and I didn’t see any issues with cleanliness. I am very impressed with this one. If anybody is looking for a place like that, I would highly recommend it. "

"My husband is a resident in the Legacy Unit. I am very thankful I chose Springview Manor. The staff is amazing. Their performance shows they truly care for each resident. I love the family orientated atmosphere from the minute you walk in the door. My husband loves to spend time in the beautiful garden. The rooms are very nice and always clean. The meals smell and look delicious and I love that they are served family style."

"My dad is a resident of Briarwood Village. We liked the facility because of the cleanliness and it's fairly new. It has a nice curb appeal. They have a microwave, and a small, college dorm refrigerator. The staff were very quick and prompt. I haven't had any issues with them. He seemed to like the food, of course, it's not like home-cooked meals and he's been on the farm his entire life, so it's a little challenging for him. They do have options if there's something that he does not care for. They can get a hamburger, hotdog, or a grilled cheese sandwich. They have different things that he can get if he doesn't like what's on the menu. They have cards that they play with. They had taken out a group of residents to the fair, so they do go outside of the box."

"She checked into Genesis Healthcare last April because of recurring urinary tract infections. The place was exceptionally clean and they gave her a special room because of her dialysis equipment. Overall, they were very good but training is needed by some of the staff for her dialysis. "

"In July 2013 my mother was placed here because she had COPD and nothing more hospital in Lima could do for her. She had to have oxygen. Hospital said they would give her less than a week to live. They told the nursing home to give mom just 2 liters of oxygen and if they did she would of died. Nursing home gave her what she needed to stay alive. Each week shes needed more and more oxygen. She was up to 20 liters before she died Sept. 2013 with full mask on 24hrs aday. I am so grateful that this nursing home gave mom more time to live to be with us. They go above and beyond and I would trust this nursing home. They treated mom sooo good and us. "
