"My parents are in Park Place Senior Living. I couldn't ask for better staff. Every step of the way, they've been fantastic at every level. They all are very concerned with my parents. Even the staff in the cafeteria and the nurses, everybody knows their names. They've only been there two weeks, and everybody already knows them. They love the food because they tell me all the time how good it is. It's very clean, very well organized, and very senior-oriented. They have a calendar of activities. They have a board each day reflective of what's on the calendar so that if people can't read the calendar, they can look at the board and they know what's going on, what kind of entertainment they have, that kind of thing. It's not the cheapest place in Fort Wayne, but it's fantastic."

"My sister is in StoryPoint Fort Wayne North in Enhanced Living. The place is immaculate. It's clean. The food is great. The rooms are quite spacious. The price is not bad. All assisted livings are not cheap, but this seems to be reasonable. I live on the East Coast, and the same room in the East Coast where I live would be $3,000 or $4,000 more per month. The biggest thing is the care that she gets by the attendants. My sister needs a little bit of help showering at times, getting her medicine, taking care of her, and sometimes they bring her food. They love her, and she likes them. She always has good things to say about everybody. There are tons of activities. It really is a place for people of advanced age that might have issues cognitively and need stimulation. There's plenty of games, activities and events. My wife and I are here visiting and there's a huge tailgate picnic going on. Last month, they took my sister and a bunch of the residents on a boat ride down on one of the rivers here. Yesterday, there was a Catholic eucharistic communion and rosary service. At least once a week, there is a religious service in there regardless of the denomination. I went there and prayed the rosary and had communion, but I was also there with five other residents. They invited me and welcomed me just like I was someone living there. My wife was really taken aback about how nice it was. It looks like a hotel. It's as clean as a hotel. It's a very nice place. I've seen a couple other places around here that are nice, but this is the nicest by far. They provide three meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's takeaway service. If you don't feel like coming out, you just give them a call and they'll come by and they'll drop your food off. Every day, there's dessert. They're also very diligent. I've eaten dinner with my sister quite a bit down there. The wait staff are usually volunteers from the local high schools and they're really nice people. All of these young folks have a ton of patience with the residents and I heard one of the staff telling one of the ladies, "You're not supposed to have that, that's not good for you" because she wanted ice cream. I think she was a diabetic. She was getting kind of agitated but the staff was very patient. My sister couldn't stay by herself anymore. So, I had to find some place for her to live and this is the best in Fort Wayne. This is the best in Indiana. My sister actually has had a couple of issues where they had to call EMS. She's fine, but they were on top of it. They take care of her. I'm very happy with what's going on. Two nights ago, it was like an Asian night and my wife and I had some kind of ginger bean broth and it was delicious. We complimented the chef and the chef came out and we told him how great it was. They run that place very rigorously and professionally. Facilities and events-wise, the place is great. The dining room is on the first floor, and my sister is on the first floor. Sonja, the executive director, and Precious, the shift leader, have treated my sister great, and all the girls that work with Precious, and all of the facilities people that work under Sonja, have been wonderful. They are very professional."

"My mom will move into Astral at Auburn. Whoever designed it was a genius. The hallways are 12 or 14 feet wide. I mean, wide enough for two wheelchairs to pass and a person walking down the middle. So, they were conscious of what they were building there. The place was immaculate, well-organized, and clean. The staff was amazing. It was just checking all the boxes. The building was impressive. It's gorgeous. They have outdoor space, and it was beautiful."

"The resident rooms are spacious, very nice wall & carpet colors. The whole facility is well maintained, new & tastefully decorated for a comfortable environment. The staff are qualified, friendly & helpful. Residents have art class & bingo, church services & other games, more activities are coming & monthly fun themes that are celebrated. The residents are well cared for, hospice is allowed, it is a safe serene environment. My dad received hospice care thru a separate organization that came in. Caregivers are very compassionate & knowledgeable. The Director helps with any concerns we have & resolves them."

"The Yellow Retirement Communities is very clean. Everybody takes care of their little area. The community takes care of the snow plowing, mowing, and all the outside stuff. It's very nice. We found a 2-bedroom, one bathroom, and it's a little over 1100 square feet. The staff is very nice. They answered all the questions that we needed to be answered. They were forthright with telling us anything we needed to know or didn't know and how they took care of the water, the sewer, and the garbage. There is a washer and dryer in each apartment. They are all individual apartments. It's a regular apartment complex, but they are single-story homes. They've got one bedroom and two bedrooms with different floor plans. They don't offer any activities. If you just need to get into a smaller place, and you can still do everything you need to do, or at least most of everything you can do, it's the place to go in Fort Wayne. There are restaurants and shopping close by."

"I will be moving into Heritage Park Assisted Living & Garden Homes. It's very convenient, friendly, and welcoming. The staff was very kind, courteous, and helpful. Utilities are paid for. They had a lovely dining room and a chapel. The area around it was light and there were lots of trees and hopefully birds. The dining area was very nice and looked welcoming and clean. Everything about it was good and it was clean."

"We liked Arbor Glen. It's great across the board. It was excellent. The people that we talked to were very friendly. They seemed to meet all of the needs my brother would have had. The lady that took us on the tour answered all our questions. She was very helpful in letting us know what was available. We're very well pleased. There seemed to be quite a bit that he could've been able to do if he had stayed there. It's easy to access to everything. The cleanliness was perfect."

I only met one person there, and she's very friendly and knowledgeable. I have friends living there. It fits their needs and they love it. It's very good. "

"Our overall experience with Five Star Residences of Fort Wayne has been excellent. We chose to move Mom there, because this was in an area that she was already familiar with, and there were a couple of people there that she already knew. So, that was beneficial. Her living arrangement is a one-bedroom apartment inside of a building, so it's very nice. There's plenty of private living space and storage. It has a very small kitchenette area with a refrigerator and a microwave, which is already enough since it's a full dining service. The location of the dining room and the sites where entertainment happens are very convenient. They have a garden club, a nice movie room, a calendar full of activities that includes card playing and entertainers that come in, like local musicians. They have a lot going on and they have a shuttle that takes them to a few stores weekly if you choose to. She seems to like the food, too."

"My friend is in the Golden Years Homestead. I have talked to some residents. There are a couple that I have known for several years, who just moved their homes in the last few months. The outside is definitely a five. It's very, very nice with lots of trees around it. It has nice shade as well. It's one of those places that you look at and you say, oh, just relax and enjoy. The people I know there have said they haven't found a place more friendly than it, and the staff is great. They were very pleased that they found the place. The activities were much more to their liking, and they enjoyed them. They were well pleased. I can only say that they're very clean, and they have excellent cleaning staff. They didn't have anything bad at all to say about them. I found the staff to be very helpful and always see them with a smile on their face. When you ask them a question, they know the answer. They are very helpful, very engaging, and very honest."

"We went to Coventry Meadows and met with a woman in the office who gave us a tour. She sat down and talked to us. She was very friendly and did a good job explaining things about a lot of different aspects, from a waiting list to what kind of amenities they offer. They have shuttle buses that take you for no charge to doctor's appointments and even have occasional community activities that they take people to. They don't have to worry about driving and finding a place to park and they try to use that also for some entertainment. She talked about how close a lot of the people are living in those independent apartments. They're almost like small condos, but they have a really strong community and everybody kind of keeps an eye on each other and a lot of times they get together to play cards or something. It just sounded very appealing in terms of having some companionship as well as a scaled-down place to live and some protections. If anything happened, my husband could just buzz the necklace and some of the staff that would be close by would come over and check on him. So, I had a very positive impression. It was a pretty small place. We live in a four-story home, so anything is going to look small to us, but it was laid out nicely and we could imagine ourselves there. They had a lovely sunroom that looked out over a big marsh that is behind the facility (Eagle Marsh), and there was a lot of local wildlife. It's a very pretty setting. So, that's a nice aspect of it, too."

"I'm going to Quail Ridge Villas. I went there last year, and I was there again today. I liked the complete setup; it's very new and very nicely decorated. They have a lot of amenities. I can use the swimming pool and recreation equipment, I can have my own garden, and it's the kind of community where I like to be. It's out in the country and it's what I'm used to, and that's very important to me. They have different kinds of living arrangements, all independent. Some of them are villas and some are separate, two-bedroom apartments with an attached garage. They have a high-rise, senior-living complex, they have two-to-three-bedroom homes that you can rent, and it's all laid out in a beautiful place."

"My brother was at Ascension Living Sacred Heart Village. I felt very sorry for them because he kept trying to get out and he was not in the locked down part at the time. They gave him good care. I liked the rooms very well and I liked this facility very much. It looked to me like they had just redone the rooms. They looked nice and they were in good shape. It was very pleasant. They had a special menu every day if you didn't want what was on the menu, and it was good food."

"I had an in-person tour of Betz Senior Villas. The community did appeal to me. I would call it a duplex, like two houses connected. There are some nice walking paths that appealed to me. As far as the building itself, there's one bedroom and two bedrooms. I thought they were nicely laid out and not so small that I would feel claustrophobic. They all came with appliances, like a dishwasher, a stove, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a washer and dryer. Their rent is connected to your income. There is no staff, but there's somebody on the premises all the time. The person who showed me around simply manages the place. There's a nice little outdoor area with a small pond. They don't have empty units to let you tour. They just have a resident who agrees to allow people to tour her particular living unit."

"The apartment they showed me at River Terrace Retirement Community was a very nice one. The kitchen was not very big but then I didn't need that big of a kitchen. It had one bedroom, a walk-in shower, and a bathroom. The living room and the bedroom were both a nice size. I didn't talk to many of the staff, but the manager was very nice and very helpful. The housekeeper was running around there doing things, and there was a young man that I'm assuming was part of maintenance. The place looked like it was in great condition and was being cared for."
