Nursing Home Communities in Goffstown, NH

"My sister is at Ridgewood Center because she has cognitive problems and early Alzheimer's. But I really wanted to move her down to Florida. Ridgewood was the nursing home that my sister had worked in at one time. Everybody is very nice. I think it's a good place. It's clean and the staff seems very attentive to the people. They try to keep them busy with different activities. The room is fine, but they have to go to a separate room for the showers. My sister is not crazy about the food and she complains about it a lot. "

"My dad is at Maple Leaf Health Care Center. We haven't been able to go and see him, so I don't know how he's doing, but I can tell that he is clean. I saw his fingernails were clean, he was neat looking, and his hair was combed. We saw him six feet apart and he was sitting on a wheelchair, so I didn't see him walk. I'm a nurse, so I was looking for how he was walking, how they transferred him, and that kind of stuff. They've been very nice, very cooperative, and trying to keep us updated. The facility is clean, but it's an old building, and kind of rundown a little bit. They don't have really nice outdoor facilities either. My dad used to look out in the yard and see his birds and stuff, and there's none of that there. It's just sort of in the middle of a city, but the people were very nice. COVID made it all difficult, but I think they're doing the best they can."

"Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center's overall appearance was beautiful. It was a very nice place. The staff is very kind and helpful. They look like they take care of their patients very well because they're attentive. The place is very clean and neat, and the rooms are a good size with 2 beds. "

"Saint Teresa Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has a homey feeling. It didn't look like a hospital. It looked like a home. The facility is very clean. The staff was very informative and very nice. It is owned by Catholic Charities, and they have five different locations. They had two different dining rooms, and they were very nice. They had a beauty salon, a library, and an outdoor area, which was very nice with bird feeders, picnic tables, and umbrellas. They have PT for exercise."

"My mom was at the Hanover Hill Health Care Center and they took good care of her. I was there all the time, like almost every day, and I think they've done a good job. It was pretty homey, and I was satisfied with the care we got. They had a hairdresser and people coming in to do their nails. They also had games, puzzles, and afternoon entertainment, so it was good, and my mom was happy there."

"I visited Holy Cross, and it was nice and clean. They had card playing, and they were doing crafts. They seemed nice and very caring. Their dining room was very nice. "

"When I walked through this front door, I felt like I was "HOME" The staff greeted me promptly, and encouraged me to stay for a complimentary lunch in their family style restaurant. I could tell immediately that this was where I needed to be. This center was recommended by my physician who said her mom was a patient here as well. "

"This is easily the better of the care centers in Concord when it comes to elders. There is a more intensive, more luxurious center located directly in the Concord Hospital parking lot but it was far too intense for my 87 yr old MIL. We had her moved to HH, where they made her feel at home in a private room as she has dementia and would have disturbed a roommate. There is almost always a waiting list. That was frustrating but befits the fact that is is a better center than most. The usual problems of overstretched nursing assistants and the lack of an RN on duty at all times was one of my reasons for distracting a star. I admire the LPNs but really feel an RN should be there. They are better than average about changing underwear and keeping the rooms really clean. Mom was getting so comfortable there it would have been a thought to go ahead and let her stay if they had the same conditions up on the permanent stay floor as downstairs. Someone needs to understand that unless it's a couple in a room together, then permanent stay needs to be all single rooms, even if they must be tiny. People deserve the dignity of their own space, their own bathroom/shower area. The other reason I removed a star was the food. I brought Mom most of her food because the food was a big pool of grease, and nothing there would fit a low fat lifestyle to any measure. But again, that is unfortunately typical. I'd say if you are looking for short term rehab for an elder, there is really no place better locally. If you are looking for long term..well it's really up to your elder if they want to share a room. Perhaps s/he will. If so, the care is great if the food isn't :) "

"My dad was in Pleasant View Center for a while. He was in the rehab, but we would go see the nursing home part for different things because it’s all one unit. I thought they were very good about his care. They got him rehabilitated; his therapists were great. I did have a concern with them sometimes leaving him for long periods of time. I would come in and find him tangled up in the sheets, and the bed was wet and it had been a while. I know they’re understaffed; they have 50 rooms to do in an hour. It’s the staffing part, but as far as the professional part and what he needed for his therapies, that was 100%. "

"I visited Presidential Oaks while a family member was recovering from a stroke. I found the nursing staff and therapists to be friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The facility was clean and the atmosphere quiet. I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a short term stay or long term care. "

"Hello, My mother Violet D. was a resident there for about 1.5 years. I was fortunate enough to live local so pre-Covid stopped in several times a week to visit with her. She was an alzheimer's patient so she was unable to speak up for herself if anything was not up to par with her care but I never saw anything concerning. She was always clean and dressed when I arrived. She participated in the activities -she seemed very happy given the circumstances. During COVID we had weekly update calls which helped with the frustration of not being able to see her. Barbara was fantastic with keeping her involved with everything. They did allow me to be by her side when she passed in 2020 which I was very grateful for as I would have been more devastated if she had passed alone. They are short staffed and it does take time to get a response from a nurse - but this is the industry now. One person can only do so much and I watched the nurses run ragged with requests. They are doing (and did in my case) the best they can with what they have for staff. The patio they have for residents to visit with family/friends as well as just to get outside is very inviting and a great change in atmosphere from being inside the facility. My mother was in another facility before I moved her to the Elms and I found the Elms superior due to size and care."

"I found Crestwood Care to be very good. I found my aunt very well taken care of. The staff that we met was very polite and nice. We had no complaints about the place at all. The room was very adequate. My aunt mentioned that the food was very good. She wasn’t doing any activities, but I do know that they have activities. I’ve been in other places, and this is the place that I found that was the best. "

"We found Havenwood - Heritage Heights for my mother. My mom-in-law was also there. They're the best place I know. They're very polite, very kind, even from service techs to the janitors were very friendly. They were very nice to my mother-in-law, my wife, and myself. That's why I'm trying to get my mother to go in there. My mother-in-law died about three years ago. She was in the apartments and worked her way up into memory care. She ended up with Alzheimer's. From the whole time she was there in the apartments to the memory care area, they were very nice people. I never heard any complaints about the food, especially the ice cream. They had a lot of activities for both the people in the special care units, and the residents. You can travel outside if you want to. They would take you by bus to stores. They're all very expensive. The one thing that I liked about this place is they don't throw you out if you run out of money."

"I toured The Baldwin. They don't have much available at this point, but I got the last unit in the level I wanted. Even though I already put in my deposit, I went for a tour to see more of the community and get more feedback. The Baldwin was amazing. I could not believe just how wonderful everything was. It was beyond my wildest dreams. I have never seen better staff anywhere. I dealt with several staff members there, and they all were just beyond what I expected. We were in their coffee shop-type section of the place. I had a lobster roll there and it's one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. It's good-sized and loaded with lobsters. The building was spotless and beautiful. It's brand new. They opened just a few months ago. It's clean. I never expected to find a place like this."
