"We are waiting for Medicaid for my dad to be there at Hillsborough County. I like the staff a lot, it was clean and nice. The whole process was good. It has five floors of long term care. They had a lot of different things going on, and it seemed very secure. They also make sure that people get up and get dressed. "

"I toured this place on a late afternoon. Staffing was scarce. Patients looked unkept and the overall vibe was poor. I could over hear staff complaining about how “short staffed” they were ... and it was visually dirty."

"My father doesn't like the food at Bedford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, but he's at a low-sodium diet so he's not going to like any food. The staff that I have dealt with there is very communicative. They answer phone calls, they answer our questions, and we do bi-weekly updates on his progress. They had to move him into a shared room because all the nursing facilities at New Hampshire were required to set aside all the single rooms for COVID patients if the hospitals would meet an overflow. The building is old and looks it, but it's really clean."

"Courville provided a very pleasant experience for my Mother in Law who was staying there and they went well beyond expectations to accommodate the family visiting. For her Birthday, they set us up with a private lounge room and we had 20+ guests. I never saw anything that was unsanitary. They have some TV's in nice rooms for their residents. My only complaint was that at times they were short staffed, which caused a long wait for assistance. Not very good when someone needed assistance to the restroom. "

"My sister is at Ridgewood Center because she has cognitive problems and early Alzheimer's. But I really wanted to move her down to Florida. Ridgewood was the nursing home that my sister had worked in at one time. Everybody is very nice. I think it's a good place. It's clean and the staff seems very attentive to the people. They try to keep them busy with different activities. The room is fine, but they have to go to a separate room for the showers. My sister is not crazy about the food and she complains about it a lot. "My dad is at Maple Leaf Health Care Center. We haven't been able to go and see him, so I don't know how he's doing, but I can tell that he is clean. I saw his fingernails were clean, he was neat looking, and his hair was combed. We saw him six feet apart and he was sitting on a wheelchair, so I didn't see him walk. I'm a nurse, so I was looking for how he was walking, how they transferred him, and that kind of stuff. They've been very nice, very cooperative, and trying to keep us updated. The facility is clean, but it's an old building, and kind of rundown a little bit. They don't have really nice outdoor facilities either. My dad used to look out in the yard and see his birds and stuff, and there's none of that there. It's just sort of in the middle of a city, but the people were very nice. COVID made it all difficult, but I think they're doing the best they can."

"Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center doesn't have the glitz and glamour that the other place does. It's a nursing home. They are older buildings. What's nice is that mom is very involved in her faith, and the Catholic chapel there is wonderful, and that's more important to my mom than some of the things that they offer at the other place, like happy hour. The room is more hospital-like or dorm-like. My mom did rehab at Mount Carmel, and she liked it. The rehab was great. My mother said, "They won't let me stay because they only have rehab and then nursing." I'm like, "You're only assisted living mom, and right now you're OK on your own." She was there for a month. If she liked it, that says a lot, because she is usually pretty judgmental."

"My mother is at Hanover Hill Health Care Center. They help her with her medication, and they give her showers. They provide all three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes it is served in their room, but most of the time it is in the dining room. The staff are very nice. It is probably one of the best places my mother's been to because she doesn't have to do much for herself anymore. There is a nursing staff. If she has a problem, they come in and check her out. It's much more convenient for her right now. The other occupant in the room would be able to have the same size bed. A curtain can be drawn in between. They each have a chair. They share a big dresser and a closet type of thing for coats. They also share a dresser for smaller garments. My mom has a nightstand to put her own personal stuff in. They have peg boards on the side of the wall, so they can put pictures up. There is a TV. The place seems to be very clean. I go there every Sunday to visit her, and they do a very good job cleaning. My mom actually is a pretty tough critic, so when she says the food's good, it usually is. She used to complain about all of the other places she was at. I ask her now, and she says it's really good. There is a bathroom in the room, too. The staff does a really good job. They seem to keep the patients very relaxed, so it's a good environment. They seem to be very, very informative and very knowledgeable. A lot of them are nurses and LNAs. They also have social workers that you can talk to. There is a rehab area. They have a big gym, where they take people if they want to do some exercises or go exercise for their PT. They keep the front yard very nice. Everything is pretty much up to date. I would say it's pretty much what you would see in a hospital. Like any nursing home, they do take a lot of her money from social security."

"We moved Mom into Villa Crest assisted living. She's been there for a few weeks now, and she's comfortable and happy. It has been absolutely wonderful. I can't say enough about it. The staff has been amazing. Everyone is so friendly. It was very organized and clean. It's just a happy community. She has a studio and it is adorable. It has a nice little kitchen area if she chose to use it. It's very pleasant. I'm very happy. They come and they invite her daily to activities, and yesterday she did cornhole. She didn't even know what it was, and I thought that was pretty impressive. She's done some bingo. She's trying different things, which just really warms my heart. She's a pretty picky eater, and she's been eating much better than she was at home. She hasn't complained at all. She eats whatever they give them, she says, except for fish. They seem to have quite a variety of activities, some are consistent, like they consistently have bingo. They have religious kinds of activities she could choose to go to if she wanted to. So far it seems to be very appealing. No one wants to pay thousands of dollars, but for what she's getting and the peace of mind, the facility and the food, I would say it's reasonable. I'm very, very happy."

"This is easily the better of the care centers in Concord when it comes to elders. There is a more intensive, more luxurious center located directly in the Concord Hospital parking lot but it was far too intense for my 87 yr old MIL. We had her moved to HH, where they made her feel at home in a private room as she has dementia and would have disturbed a roommate. There is almost always a waiting list. That was frustrating but befits the fact that is is a better center than most. The usual problems of overstretched nursing assistants and the lack of an RN on duty at all times was one of my reasons for distracting a star. I admire the LPNs but really feel an RN should be there. They are better than average about changing underwear and keeping the rooms really clean. Mom was getting so comfortable there it would have been a thought to go ahead and let her stay if they had the same conditions up on the permanent stay floor as downstairs. Someone needs to understand that unless it's a couple in a room together, then permanent stay needs to be all single rooms, even if they must be tiny. People deserve the dignity of their own space, their own bathroom/shower area. The other reason I removed a star was the food. I brought Mom most of her food because the food was a big pool of grease, and nothing there would fit a low fat lifestyle to any measure. But again, that is unfortunately typical. I'd say if you are looking for short term rehab for an elder, there is really no place better locally. If you are looking for long term..well it's really up to your elder if they want to share a room. Perhaps s/he will. If so, the care is great if the food isn't :) "

"My dad was in Pleasant View Center for a while. He was in the rehab, but we would go see the nursing home part for different things because it’s all one unit. I thought they were very good about his care. They got him rehabilitated; his therapists were great. I did have a concern with them sometimes leaving him for long periods of time. I would come in and find him tangled up in the sheets, and the bed was wet and it had been a while. I know they’re understaffed; they have 50 rooms to do in an hour. It’s the staffing part, but as far as the professional part and what he needed for his therapies, that was 100%. "

"We were so glad to escape a bad care situation and be received into the tender care of Presidential Oaks. Our brother was a difficult case. The facility is bright, spacious , clean and homey. The staff is competent and treats the patients as human beings. We were finally relieved of stress and could go home knowing he was safe and relatively happy. He enjoyed the activities , especially music, scrabble and bingo. A special shout out to Melissa, Jon, Vicky and Brian , who were so friendly and creative. I know there are many others who cared for him, and joked with him, and didn't hold his impatience against him. The staff were all receptive to our needs and flexible. We cannot thank them enough for our brother's life with them and our welcome .They cared for our brother so attentively during the time of his passing. There are many details I could relate; letting us put a bird house outside his window, fixing his Uke, stroking his forehead , laughing at his bizarre sense of humor . Thank you each and every one."

"The Elms Care and Rehabilitation Center was great to my grandfather, myself and the rest of my family. The staff made everybody feel really comfortable, even with my grandfather being very tough to deal with at that point. He was there for a few weeks after he received treatment at the hospital for lung cancer. Sadly, he went home and received hospice care after and passed away shortly after. The staff at the assisted living facility was very wonderful to all of us. "

"I went to Havenwood-Heritage Heights. They have apartments all over the place. I would be in the lodge, which is a one-room studio apartment rather than a full apartment. I like the lodge because, in weather like this, you don't have to go out. Like the meals and all the activities, everything, is in the building, so I wouldn't have to go out. Like some of the apartments, you have to go to activities or anything you want to do, and even though they have bus transportation because they have two campuses, you have to go out to go to them. If you're in the lodge, everything is there like the dining room, a little store, the hair salon, and the activities. The staff is all very pleasant. I only met two, the person that I first met when I called for information, and one other person, and they both have been very nice, very helpful, and they always answered my calls. We got a beautiful wreath from my representative for Christmas. It's gorgeous, it's very nice, so I was quite surprised. The place looked well kept. I didnt see anything like layers of dust. It's well kept up. I just have one problem with the room. As you go into the doorway of the studio, the bathroom is right there, it's not closer into the room where you would be sleeping. It just seems the door should be more near your bed or the inside of the room rather than the little entranceway. It would be nice if the bathroom was more inside the room."

"I'm going to the nursing home portion of The Baldwin because I didn't want to be in a place where I felt I was at a nursing home. It's new. It's beautiful. They have a lot of activities. I didn't qualify for assisted living. I have too much disease progression with Parkinson's. They offer PT, OT, voice therapy, and pool therapy, and the nurse-to-patient ratio is high. The cost is also 50% cheaper than what I'm paying for 24/7 home care. The first time I went, I toured with the person in charge of sales. She showed me the restaurants. They have two restaurants and a cafe, which serves lattes and those kinds of coffee drinks during the day, and some sandwiches. She showed me what some of the rooms look like. They have a community kitchen in that unit for the residents. Sometimes they will make food, or sometimes there are food demonstrations or whatever. They have several living rooms with beautiful fireplaces. They have enclosed rooms, so that if you have relatives or company or need a lawyer to have papers signed or whatever, you have total privacy. That was a surprise because most nursing homes that I see don't have any room where you can go, where it's private. Another good thing is that they work with a moving company. The moving company came to my house. They had the dimensions of the architectural plan of my room, and they measured all the furniture that I wanted to bring, and they figured out where in the room it would fit based on cable, TV, or Wi-Fi outlets for your computer. They took all of that into consideration. They have also taken into consideration the windows when they're placing your furniture. The rooms come with all darkening blackout shades because I have five windows in that room, and it has a lot of daylight coming into them. I have unbelievable views; I have views of 180 degrees. It's not depressing like most nursing homes. They're all private suites. The bathroom is extremely huge. I can get a wheelchair in the shower. I have multiple sprayers, and you don't see that every day. If you want to have privacy, you can go into your room, and you don't have a roommate. The activities are unbelievable. They have a fantastic library, and all the books in that library were donated by residents. They have a huge concert piano in the main lobby. They have someone every week playing that concert piano. They have everything. For men, they have woodworking shops. For women, they got art classes. They have dance classes, gardening, and field trips continuously. They have a shuttle bus that is handicap accessible with a lift for wheelchairs, and they'll take you to all your doctor's appointments within an 8-mile radius. If it's beyond 8 miles, they will still take you, but there'll be a fee for the additional mileage. They will take you even into Boston if you have a doctor's appointment in Boston. I can't say enough good things about what they offer. They have thought of everything. They signed up with a moving company. Not only do they move your furniture, but they also help pack everything. What's going to happen is the day that I move, in the morning they'll pack up all my furniture here and then go to the nursing home, and when I go, everything will be where it's supposed to be."
