Nursing Home Communities in Danville, KY

"My wife is already on a nursing home named Diversicare of Nicholasville. It was formerly known as Royal Manor. They got some problems, but since they were purchased by Diversicare, they have a number of improvements that they are going to be making. The facility is old but very clean. They have a couple of places to eat there. They have things like TV, bingo, church services, sing-a-longs, and crafts. It seems to be safe and secure. This facility is close to home. There are a lot of plans to upgrade it. Right now they are still in that process, and things haven't been upgraded just yet. "

"My parents moved to Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center. They're doing therapy on and off. It's not an apartment. It's a nursing home. There's two of them in a room and the rooms could be bigger. They do keep it clean. It doesn't smell at all. The staff, I don't like it because they get agency nurses from time to time, so they don't know what's going on. They're always shorthanded and they're not always checking in the room to see how my mother or father are doing. We have a lot of unhappiness about that part. I tried their food a couple of times and my mother hates their food. They are hired out from the company. They're not employees of this nursing home but they have tried working with my mom on trying to find things that she can eat. If they don't like plan A, then they try to go to plan B."

"My mother stayed at Sansbury Care Center. She was there for 12 years. I was very pleased. The staff was pretty good. The place was very clean. The only thing I didn't like was they didn't have a bathroom in each room. They had to go out to the hallway to use the bathroom or when they gave them showers. They kept the place clean. Everyone was nice. They had activities. They had the memory care on one floor, rehab on the other floor, and assisted living in another area. They were all separated, and I liked that. It was an old building, but you get great care there. They watched them and did activities with them. The staff was all friendly, and the food was good. I could go eat lunch with her sometimes. When they get to where they can't swallow, they have the food pureed and a person to feed them. Overall, it was a great place, except for it being an old building and no bathrooms in the room. Each person had a room to themselves. They didn't have two people to a room."

"First, I am a Registered nurse and my 92 year old mother is in Rockcastle Care and Rehabilitation. She has been here for 2 weeks. Her room is private, so it is small, but is ample for our needs. The environment is clean and safe. There are church services, singers that visit, group games and professional hair care. There is a dining room and the food is good. Visitors can eat in the dining room with their family or in the room for only $2.00 per meal. There are rooms for families to reserve for private activities. They have several pet cats that wander freely through the halls and rooms to visit. They also have pet therapy groups come in and encourage families to bring the resident’s pets to visit. This rehab center is absolutely wonderful. They respond to requests and concerns within minutes. They always ask if there is anything else we need, before leaving the room. Their nurses, techs and housekeepers are always knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The medical staff are quick to respond to changes in mom’s presentation. The physical therapy department works hard with mom and involve her care providers in the therapies they can continue in her room. The speach therapy department made a referral immediately on admission. We had a life planning meeting the day after she was transferred to their care, to plan her care with all the different departments who are working with her. They listened and have followed through on all requests. I would highly recommend this place."

"My father lived here, happily, for 3 years until his death 2 years ago. The staff was always very helpful & friendly. We never had a complaint other than from the daughter of one of the residents who caused the facility dog, Lucy, to be removed from the facility! The dog had apparently peed on the floor in her mother's room & she complained loudly. Very immature! Her mother probably peed on the floor more than the dog did. As a result, a very lovely dog, that cheered up my father & other residents, was removed. I hope that if I am ever placed in a home, there will be a dog on the premises. I love dogs & find it very cruel when people who don't live there have the right to make it miserable for people who have very little left! This happened 5 years ago & I've always been very upset about it! "

"My wife has dementia and she's in a nursing home at The Willows at Fritz Farm. It turns out her condition is such that she's only eligible for skilled nursing. She could not be in assisted living, so I moved her to a semi-private room which is more in line with my long-term healthcare insurance. Right now, she's happy. It's a good nursing home. I'm happy with it. They're really good. I'm very impressed with them. The community includes assisted living as well as rehab and skilled nursing. It's a mix. She's there for long-term care. The staff has been wonderful. I'm there several times a week, and I know a lot of them by name. I have never come across anybody that was anything but very concerned, very pleasant, and very competent. It's been a good experience. They do a good job. They have single and double rooms. She was in a single room, which was a good-sized room, then I moved her to a semi-private. In her current state, I think she needs more activity around her rather than being in a single room because she doesn't interact very much anymore. They've done a good job of getting her a compatible roommate and they care for her. My wife is not able to participate in many activities. She likes art, so they did a lot of art. They've got games for people who are more able to participate. They do word searches and that type of thing. Under normal conditions, when they're not under a pandemic, they've always had a lot of activities to stimulate the minds of the residents. Once in a while when I go in, she's working individually with one of the recreation people and they have her doing something. They've got the therapy and they work with her every day. She's not using her arms anymore, and her hands are clamping up and they work on that every day. They have a beauty salon, a library, and two dining areas, one's a little bit smaller and one's large. They have entertainment every Friday afternoon and happy hour where they serve a little wine and they've got a musician coming in and playing. They try to do things to keep everybody occupied. Right now is not a good example because every nursing home is having a staffing issue. They've had a lot of turnover because of COVID, but I've been very impressed with the people they've brought in. It's a good place. It's not cheap, but I would rate everybody top-notch. I could not be more pleased and everybody that I've talked to and when our kids come down from Chicago, everybody is just happy as they can be under the circumstances with the care she's getting. I feel like I've gotten the best place in town. I like everything. I always wish it was less expensive, but if I thought that it was not a good value, I could move her someplace else, and I haven't done that. I've been in enough nursing homes where you smell urine when you go in, and you don't ever smell anything in that nursing home."

"When you first walk into Sayre Christian Village, it's like a hospital. It's not home-like. It's a multi-story. I think that makes a little bit of difference too. From the outside, the upkeep was very nice. It's an older building. When we got into the skilled nursing tour part, the rooms were very small. They were very dark. There were two people in a room, and my friend would have had to be in a room with someone else for at least a year and a half before she would get to a room by herself. So, that was just a no-go from the beginning. The person who did the tour was very good, very accommodating, and answered all of our questions. He was good. The dining room was very small and was not well-lighted. It didn't hit me as a happy place. I didn't see any activities going on, but he gave us a list of things that they do, and they have quite a list of things. We talked to the activities director there as well."

"My mother is in Berea Health Care Center. The staff is friendly. It's clean. It's a smaller facility, which I like. They have a variety of activities regularly."

"My aunt was in Tanbark Health Care Center for rehab. It was fine. (My mom was also there three years ago.) They had wonderful physical therapy, the nursing staff was very nice, and the rooms were very large and clean. Overall it was very nice. It's located in a residential area, it's well maintained, and the grass and everything was well kept. It fits well into the area that it's in. It's not homey. It's small, but it's definitely a rehab center. They have lots of patience; my mom had vision problems, and they were very kind and helpful. My aunt had very extensive physical therapy, and they worked with her really well."

"My mother was in Heritage Hall Health & Rehabilitation Center. It's a rehab/nursing home type place and they were good. I liked it. It was kind of a nice, peaceful place. I like the facility itself. The only thing is where she was (it's a nursing home also), she was not too far from the floor where the mental cases were and there's a lot of screaming at night and stuff like that. That was tough on her. She had her private room and she liked that. It wasn't too bad. It's just some nights were worse than others. They couldn't help that, but you could always ask for another room. The staff was great. We didn't have any complaints. They were helpful because Covid hit a week after she got there. We had to just visit her through the window. They were great. I don't remember her complaining about the food. They had one dog there and everybody just loves him. They took her to physical therapy."

"My husband moved to Northpoint/lexington Healthcare Center. Me and my kids have been very pleased with the way they've taken care of him, and he is pleased with them, too. The food could be a little tastier from what he says, but that's all. Everything else seems to be excellent. So, I would recommend them at this point but he hasn't been there very long. The staff are all extremely nice."

"The majority of the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The time for the staff to respond to call lights is very long (up to an hour sometimes). Lunch is the best meal of the day and then breakfast. Dinner is usually a sandwich and sides. Did have an issue with a nurse but the DON appeared to handle the situation. Also, there was one LPN that was an excellent nurse but she did wear a stocking hat at least once that said "I Can't Do It". The did not impress me at all since I was there for rehabilitation and you want to have I can do it. But like I mentioned she was one of the best nurses there."

"We chose Taylor Manor because we knew that it was already a wonderful facility with wonderful people, and it's small, which means that they can give better care to their residents. My mom is in a semi-private room and she's got quite a bit of room. She and her roommate both have their own sides of the room, so they have plenty of space for their own thing. She can have her phone, her TV, all that type of things where she can still have some kind of privacy and her roommate as well. They have a very sweet spirit throughout the place. They all eat together and do activities together. We like the homey atmosphere. They have beautiful gardens where you can go outside and sit, and the family can visit with her too. With the COVID restrictions, everything is still being done on a very cautious basis. We're not allowed inside for now, but we can visit her, outside in a covered area, which is better than where she was, where we couldn't see her at all. The staff is just wonderful and she's happy there."

"My grandfather was transferred to Bluegrass Nursing Rehab in April and I don’t have enough food things to say about the staff, leadership, and care overall given to my grandfather. Thank you all SO MUCH!"
