My mother has been here in Christian Care Center for a month and a half. The facility itself is a typical nursing home. I'm a nurse, so I have been in a lot. I'd say in comparison to most that it is a little above average. I wouldn't rate any nursing home a high rating. The reason is because of the staffing. If you have one aide for 27 patients, that is not good. They are understaffed. They just got a new CEO, and they are going under a lot of changes. The hours are being extended for the aides. They have one RN for each wing with probably about 50 patients on one wing. They are making a lot of changes, and I feel like it is not for the betterment of the patients but rather for the sake of money. My mother has gotten pneumonia while she was there, and they say they treat patients for it all the time. The protocol in a hospital is to change the IV after three days, but the doctor said to leave it in until it was there for twelve days. Then the doctor wouldn't order an x-ray. He said that protocol is to order a chest x-ray 16 days after the anti-biotic stopped. If a person still has pneumonia even after the anti-biotic stopped, it is going to get worse again before 16 days. So I'm kind of upset with them about that. I only know about this stuff because I'm a nurse. As for accommodations, it is a semi-private room. We are about to possibly move into a private room without a bathroom. They have only two private rooms in the whole facility; one has a bathroom, and the other one does not. The food is OK. It is not the greatest because it is nursing home food.

I have family in a couple of different nursing homes, including the one in Lancaster. This nursing home is the absolute best one I've ever been in. It has a wonderful staff, who always treats their patients with the upmost respect. They always have everything they need. They take their job personally, where all the people are people and not just a job. The place in itself is a very clean, sanitary place. It is roomy, inviting, and all around a wonderful place. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place.
