"My mother has been in StoneBridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for a while. She's settled and everything's good. It's been excellent. The staff is wonderful. They have a really good patient-nurse relationship. They're very kind to her and that really matters to me. They're very accommodating, answered all my questions, and just work with the families really well to make sure that their loved ones are cared for. She likes the food. It's a small facility and older. It's not like a brand new, shiny facility, but they make it homey. It's not as clean and nice as a hotel, but it's not bad. It's average."

"My aunt did rehab at Manor Court of Carbondale. I really liked that facility. The place was very positive and very helpful. Even the staff that helped with the washing of the clothes were extremely helpful. The nursing staff was extremely helpful. Anytime you went in the place, the people were just super nice. The staff was helpful and just generally nice to the people. I could go in there at 9:30 at night and you would find the people were still nice. When you caught them off the cuff, they were still super nice. Those were the kind of things that I thought really jumped out. My aunt wanted to stay in there, but her rehab was over. The staff was really good. I went to pick her up several times, and the lady that brought their breakfast to them, the CNAs, and the nursing staff were super sweet to them. They didn't ever complain about the food. They thought the food was fine, so I assume it was good."

"I would give it a minus star if available. My father was there and we were in the process of arranging to move him when he succumbed to pneumonia. Poorly equipped, bad attitudes by cnas and nurses....do not put your loved one there! "

"My mother in law is in a nursing home right now called Frankfort Healthcare. It’s in good shape, it's clean all the time, and the nurses take care of everybody well. They have activities like bingo and singers coming in "

"Helia did everything wonderful, and I would rate them five stars. It was all five stars, and I never have a problem with them. He went there barely able to get around in a wheelchair, and within a week he was up walking. The rehab there is spectacular. The staffs were good, and they bend over backwards. They put on special things for people like birthday parties. One lady turned 101 years old there, and they put on a big birthday bash for her. They have a King and Queen Day right on Valentine's Day, and they welcome the family. The rooms were very clean and very easy to care for. It has a TV, a dresser, and a lounge chair. All of the rooms are private rooms at the Helia. "

"My father in law was a resident at Helia Healthcare of Carbondale for the last year of his life. The staff was excellent the entire time, treated him with dignity and respect and he liked his stay there. This was one of the few nursing homes I found where I truly felt like the staff cared about it's residents. The building is not overly impressive from the outside but I always found it very clean and tidy inside. The first nursing home I've ever walked into, in my entire life, that didn't smell like a nursing home. I would recommend Helia of Carbondale to any family."

"My mom is at Liberty Village of Marion in Parkway Manor Skilled Nursing. She has been there for six weeks now. They're helping her with physical therapy, bathing, getting dressed, they're cooking their meals, and doing laundry. When it turned cold before I got down there to bring her some warmer clothes, they provided her with a lot of clothes. Residents may have their own cell phones in the room. They have wheelchairs and they have a doctor coming in once a week. They have arts and crafts and bingo activities. A lady comes in and gets their nails done and paints them if they want. All the residents say they like the food there. I was there with my mom for lunch a couple of times, and they had good stuff. She had lasagna, broccoli, and bread roll. Another person didn't want that, and they made her a salad with eggs, ham, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. They looked good. Some older people were eating cheeseburgers and hot dogs. They could choose food; it's not just handed to them. They have a little menu. They have snacks, coffee, and water. When I visited my mom who was sitting with some of the other residents, some of the skilled workers sat at tables and talked with them. "

"This facility is fairly new and very nice on the outside and well decorated on the inside. There is not smell when you walk in the door like you get in some facilities. For the most part the staff is very kind and seem to interact well with the residents. From personal experience I think there could be more communication between staff and family members that are in charge of the decision made for the patient. One more thing is that at times there doesn't seem to be enough staff to care for the patients. I have observed 1 nurse and 2 cna's for 60 or so people. I don't know how they can give good care but from what I understand that is common in nursing homes. "

"They don't send me information on upcoming events. They ask me to schedule my mother for appointments and ask me to take her. I work 40 hours a week. It is very difficult for me to get off work. The change over is very high. The facility is an hour away. I go at least once a month to visit my mother, and always on the weekends. The staff makes comments such as, well hasn't it been a long time since you've been here. "

"My mother-in-law is currently in Integrity Healthcare of Marion. The staff members are very supportive, very kind, and very responsive to any questions. They have puzzles, they have groups where they get together and talk, and they can also go outside and exercise if the weather is nice. Her room is very clean. We're paying with Medicare. The communication with the staff is very good."

"My husband is at Nature Trail Health Care Center. I think it's a wonderful place. It's nice. It's clean. Everybody is extremely friendly. They're very helpful and very caring. I would recommend it to anyone. There are two persons in a room. And if you need anything, they're right there to help you. Like if my husband has to be taken out of his chair and put in his wheelchair, they'll use the lift that lifts him up and sits him in his chair, and then they put him right back in when he needs to be changed or if he needs a shower or anything. They're right on top of that. They take my husband into therapy, and they try to get him to do a thing with his feet, just like riding a bicycle but he is sitting in this wheelchair, and he is pedaling on this thing that's on the floor. They had a party at Christmas time. They had a party at Thanksgiving time. And at Christmas time, everybody got a great big bag with all kinds of Christmas presents. They're caring. If they have a question or anything, they call me on the phone. And they keep me posted on everything. The staff members are all so friendly. The food looks nutritious. My husband has a problem with eating because there are certain foods that he doesn't like, but I think what they feed him is very good. It's just his tastebud. Physically, the facility is very kept and very clean. You walk in the door, and you don't smell pee or anything else. They're always cleaning. However, I don't think my husband takes part in too many activities. He kind of stays to himself except when it comes to time to eat. He also has a couple of three people that sit at the same table with him that he likes. Regarding value for money, it's pretty much the same as it was at the other place."

"I have a family member who is at the nursing home of Mount Vernon Health Care Center. The facility is understaffed. The building smells most of the time. My family member can't get up on his own. He has trouble walking and they don't change him like they're supposed to. He has accidents and has to sit on his wet pants all day. His room is OK. He's supposed to be sharing with somebody, but so far, they haven't gotten anybody in there. They just sit and watch television or sit in the dining room, and then walk around and stand at the nurse's station talking to the nurses. So, they have no activities. I haven't been there too much when they are serving food, but I take a lot of his food over there to him because he can't eat what they serve. They could improve by getting more staff and helping their patients more. They could give them some activities to do, and try to get them to associate with other patients instead of just talking to the staff all the time."
