I have a family member who is at the nursing home of Mount Vernon Health Care Center. The facility is understaffed. The building smells most of the time. My family member can't get up on his own. He has trouble walking and they don't change him like they're supposed to. He has accidents and has to sit on his wet pants all day. His room is OK. He's supposed to be sharing with somebody, but so far, they haven't gotten anybody in there. They just sit and watch television or sit in the dining room, and then walk around and stand at the nurse's station talking to the nurses. So, they have no activities. I haven't been there too much when they are serving food, but I take a lot of his food over there to him because he can't eat what they serve. They could improve by getting more staff and helping their patients more. They could give them some activities to do, and try to get them to associate with other patients instead of just talking to the staff all the time.
