"Bethesda is a lovely place to live! The majestic redwood trees towers over this facility. As I walk down an isle in the garden that blooms with colorful roses, a bench in the garden to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Some residents there can plant their own vegetable garden or flower garden. On special occasions there are picnics outdoors. During Christmas time the trees are decorated with festive lights. Inside I've seen the residents there paint, play bingo, participate in singing activities. The residents there are content, and eat well. They are happy! There are pets allowed to roam around the facility, such as: birds, cats, and a fish tank. Occasionally the home will provide a large dog with its owner for a visit for the residents for social activities. Bethesda is fun and has a supportive environment. "

"We ended up placing my mom in Bellaken Garden in Oakland's assisted living. We were able to visit and we went through her Medicare health plan with them and they did some sort of contract regarding the health care service part. The other residential fee and stuff we would be paying out of pocket. It was a very good fit for her. When we called, the staff was very responsive to asking initially what we were looking for, and then the application process was done with them. Plus, they worked with my mother's Medicare health plan and that was very useful. My mother was also looking for a place where the staff could speak the Cantonese language. She speaks Cantonese and a large number of the staff there are Cantonese-speaking. My mother also needed a certain level of care, she's wheelchair-bound, she needed a place that was willing to accept and have staff that was qualified to help her at her level of care. There were a few places that we spoke to that basically could not accept her. She's in a shared room. It's okay, it's not great but it's good for the price we're paying. I know there are some nice ones, but they were so expensive. We spoke to the administrative staff about the meals and actually, the place has a lot of residents who are Chinese and a lot of staff that is Chinese. They cater to Cantonese and Chinese food and my mother likes it. So, it was a good fit. Right now, during the pandemic, there are no group amenities. The residents are pretty much still confined to their own rooms and stuff. I believe they have an exercise program and there is a community area, like a communal area. The building itself, the facility itself is in the center of the inner city but when you go there, it's actually very secluded and it's kind of in a cul-de-sac and it's very quiet. So, we were very surprised. It almost feels like it's not in the city so that's why we liked it."

"My mom is in the skilled nursing home, Avondale Villa Post-Acute, but she is in full long-term care. It is fine. It's a small community and very good care. The people who work there are very nice, and I can say only good things about them. My mom has a very bright room and there's lots of light. The food is good. She eats what she is given. She has a TV, but with her dementia, she didn't watch TV even at home, so it doesn't matter for her now. I was told that everything is covered. She feels pretty much comfortable there. She is kind of active and she likes to move or walk to do things. But it seems like, to avoid some accidents, the personnel who work there tried to put her in some chair close to the table, so she can't walk. I understand them, but I didn't think she was happy. Cleanliness and maintenance are good. I don't see any problems with it."

"My mom was at The Vineyards Healthcare Center Livermore. It was acceptable. But I don't have anything to compare it to, so I would say it was good. The staff were nice and cooperative. They stay after hours sometimes. My mom was in her bed a lot. They were delivering her food to her, and doctors supervised and evaluated her. I don't recall how often she got evaluated but it was at least a couple of times a week. Her room seemed nice. It was pretty clean, and it smelled fine. Sometimes I would taste her food for her just to make sure it was not too salty or something like that, but we never had a full meal there. The people were nice. We had to go in during COVID, so we had to do a lot of requirements for COVID 19 testing and so forth. That was probably the worst part. But that would have been at any place, too. It was covered by Medicare."

"Pleasanton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is understaffed. They had a situation just a couple of days ago. They called me saying they were rushing my husband to the hospital because the blood test came back, and his kidney is failing. When they got to the hospital, there was nothing wrong. I don't know whose blood test they had, but it wasn't my husband's. He is in a two-bedroom. It has a shower but it's kind of crowded. There's a wheelchair in there and you don't have a lot of room. My view of the staff depends on which staff. It's the way that they're handling the medication. We've had problems giving him his medication. The food is a typical meal, cafeteria-type meal. Some days it is good and some days it isn't. When you cook for a hundred people and they all have different diets, that is kind of hard. The place is clean. They have activities but we have not been involved in them yet. They have a walking thing down the hall. They also have movies going on."

"My mom was admitted in what we would call a massive crisis. She walked into the hospital for a brain tumor biopsy early one Friday morning and she was delivered to Hillside the following day via ambulance under Hospice care with a life expectancy of fewer than 12 weeks. I did not have time to do comprehensive research before I entrusted them with the responsibility of my mother's end of life. I visited my mom every day (sometimes 2x a day) for the last 5 weeks of her life. I don't know where to begin complimenting Hillside. Let's start with first impressions, the facility is clean and smells fresh all the time. The residents milling about the halls all seems happy and comfortable. Every staff member, even the cleaning ladies were genuinely kind. I even got a tour of the laundry room and it was clean, organized and run by a proud sweetheart! Malu, Lola, Eva and the rest of the team took great care of my mom. They took the time to get to know her and really made an extra effort to make her as comfortable as possible. They made special meals for her and always made sure she had her ice water. They gave her an extra shower and always treated her with dignity during the most difficult time of our lives. As my mom declined the team kept her pain under control. They worked hand in hand with Hospice right to the very end. The ladies at Hillside were like a bunch of loving Aunties taking care of everything so that I was able to just be my mom's daughter and focus on my mom's end of life, not her actual care. It was the worst 5 weeks of my life and these ladies held me up and supported me in ways I did not know possible. I can not recommend Hillside enough. "

"I toured Acacia Creek. It was a good experience. I like that there are lots of activities and whatnot. The only thing I didn't like about it is that half the units are facing a hillside with no view and no sun. The physical appearance and the staff were both very good. They have a dining room, they have hobbies and a swimming pool. The rooms were nice, but again, some of the rooms were facing the hillside and without sun."

"The nurses at Park Central Care & Rehabilitation Center are all very wonderful, but it was very noisy. There was so many people with three people to each room. When I was there, the food looked really great. The room size was about 18 feet long and 12 feet wide. If they were taking the third bed out, they had to move the first and second beds out of the way and had to move all of the chairs and tables out. It was crowded. The nurses and staff were really great. Other than being a little crowded and noisy all of the time, everything else was OK. "

"My mother-in-law is at Windsor Country Drive Care Center for physical therapy and occupational therapy. Shes been there for two months now. However, we have to remind the nursing staff on certain things for patient needs. Family support is paramount to keep her focused going forward, so we have to do this job of reminding the nursing staff, but its not all the time. The food from my perspective, she gets three square meals, but she doesnt always like the food."

"This isn't a luxury facility--even minor benefits, like cable television, had to be paid out of pocket--but the level of care they provided for my mother and their help in getting our home set up for her long term care was excellent. The staff was friendly and professional, and the social workers were particularly helpful. They went out of their way to make sure that my mother was able to leave the facility to attend my graduation, and even helped show me and my family how to operate lifts, properly change adult diapers, treat pressure sores, and other things necessary to allow my mother to transfer back to our home as quickly as possible. As far as care goes, my experience was top notch. Unfortunately, as mentioned, the amenities are very bare-bones. The building is old, there are often three patients to a room (though they were prompt in transferring problem patients out of my mother's room when requested), and the food makes hospital fair look good. As a place to stay to deal with a temporary disability, it's adequate, but I wouldn't want to live there on a more permanent basis. "

"My mother was in Hayward Hills for physical therapy. She was hospitalized twice. She was supposed to be there for exercise, but it took them three days to start exercising her. Right after they started, she was having chest pains. We called 911, and they said her heart had been strained. The second time, nobody was watching her, and she was eating while lying down so she was choking. I had to call 911 again. Once when I visited her, I noticed something wrong and found out she was aspirating because her oxygen was only 71, and she would have been dead if I had not come. I asked them for my mother's medical records, and it has been a month since she was there but I still haven't received them."

"The facility was austere did not offer many amenities. Staff were friendly and accomodating. There were two residents per room. There was only one shower room but several bathrooms for ease of access for residents. The recreation room was also the dining room. There was a small garden with a gazebo. Not much space for residents to walk around if you are looking for that kind of thing. "

"Care at this facility was poor. Call bells went unanswered for up to 20 minutes. Only canned fruits and vegetables were providedand on one weekend my dinner consisted only of a chicken salad sandwich. Meals were either cold or lukewarm. The best department in the facility was physical therapy/occupational therapy. The PT/OT staff worked hard to help clients to improve their physical and occupational skills. The housekeeping staff were friendly but did not do a thorough job when it came to keeping the facility clean. "My husband was at Eden Healthcare Center for rehab. The staff and the care were fine. They were limited in the amounts that they had, and as a result, limited in what they could do, but they were good. My husband's room was a shared one. Aside from therapy they also took him for a walk outside the building almost daily, so that was good. The location was kind of far from me, but it was OK because I chose that one. It was easy to get to once you knew where it was, but it wasn't close."

"This facility provides full assistance for residents 24hrs a day for a resident that is mobile or immobile. My Grandfather stayed here and the overall care was fair. The daytime staff was friendly and attentive while the night staff lacked responsiveness to the residents needs at times. The daytime staff encouraged the residents to get dressed daily and to participate in the activities in the cafeteria. Meals were fair and could have been better in flavor. Having family members present was always helpful since staff was always short handed; such as if a resident needed help eating meals the staff rushed through it. This facility was chosen mainly since there were 50 beds total and the resident to staff ratio was better than others. All in all the facility served its purpose."
