"During my recent stay at Creekview I had a clean and spacious room. There is enough cabinet space for personal belongings. Bed linen is changed regularly. Flooring is cleaned regularly. The food was tasty, hot, and there is a good variety to choose from. The Director of food and beverage visited almost every day to check that everything was ok. The staff is amazing. Help was always there when I needed it. Staff checked on me continuously to see if I needed anything. I highly recommend Creekview."

"The Vi is beautiful, it's wonderful, and elegant. Beautiful swimming pools, tennis courts, it's extremely attractive. If it's me by myself I would be living there. The rooms were big and lovely. I have no criticisms of the place, I thought it was just beautiful. The service, the waitress and the food that we had there are very elegant, I have no complaints. I had dinner with them. The food was very excellent. The problem was my partner, the person I would be sharing a residence with is a vegan. We inquired about that, but they said that they don't provide special diets for diabetics or gluten-free diet. But he's a vegan, and they prepared a special dish for him. They don't have special vegan diet. So that's the big problem. If it weren't for that I would move in right away. "

"We ended up placing my mom in Bellaken Garden in Oakland's assisted living. We were able to visit and we went through her Medicare health plan with them and they did some sort of contract regarding the health care service part. The other residential fee and stuff we would be paying out of pocket. It was a very good fit for her. When we called, the staff was very responsive to asking initially what we were looking for, and then the application process was done with them. Plus, they worked with my mother's Medicare health plan and that was very useful. My mother was also looking for a place where the staff could speak the Cantonese language. She speaks Cantonese and a large number of the staff there are Cantonese-speaking. My mother also needed a certain level of care, she's wheelchair-bound, she needed a place that was willing to accept and have staff that was qualified to help her at her level of care. There were a few places that we spoke to that basically could not accept her. She's in a shared room. It's okay, it's not great but it's good for the price we're paying. I know there are some nice ones, but they were so expensive. We spoke to the administrative staff about the meals and actually, the place has a lot of residents who are Chinese and a lot of staff that is Chinese. They cater to Cantonese and Chinese food and my mother likes it. So, it was a good fit. Right now, during the pandemic, there are no group amenities. The residents are pretty much still confined to their own rooms and stuff. I believe they have an exercise program and there is a community area, like a communal area. The building itself, the facility itself is in the center of the inner city but when you go there, it's actually very secluded and it's kind of in a cul-de-sac and it's very quiet. So, we were very surprised. It almost feels like it's not in the city so that's why we liked it."

"Aldersly Garden has lovely surroundings, and when you go out your door, there are gardens. I like the staff. They are very courteous. I visited a one-bedroom apartment, and it is nice and big -- very adequate. They have three dining areas; one is for active seniors, one is for assisted seniors, and the last one is the nursing unit. The meal hours are quite extended, they are very generous with the time, there are about two choices every day, and they put out the list ahead of time so you can make your choice. They have a bus that takes you various places if you want to go out. They have card games, a nice library with quite a lot of books, physical activity, a gym, and an instructor, so you have a class, which is very nice. "

"The staff here are literally on-call all the time and always greet visitors and the seniors they are caring for with smiles. I have never had trouble, nor has my grandma ever complained of the treatment she receives here from there. The amenities are pretty standard for what it is, so no complaints there either. As for the facilities, there are huge banquet rooms, dance rooms, etc. next door at the Ralph and Mary Ruggieri Senior Center, which I believe is part of the facility+ owned by the city. It's really nice! Masonic Homes arranges for a ton of events to be held there to be able to keep the seniors lively and socialized, so the experience here is really one that is worth looking into if you are a senior nearby Union City. "My husband was at Eden Healthcare Center for rehab. The staff and the care were fine. They were limited in the amounts that they had, and as a result, limited in what they could do, but they were good. My husband's room was a shared one. Aside from therapy they also took him for a walk outside the building almost daily, so that was good. The location was kind of far from me, but it was OK because I chose that one. It was easy to get to once you knew where it was, but it wasn't close."

They have religious service, physical therapy, Bingo, movies and there seems to be something going on in the community room all the time. "

"My mother-in-law is at Windsor Country Drive Care Center for physical therapy and occupational therapy. Shes been there for two months now. However, we have to remind the nursing staff on certain things for patient needs. Family support is paramount to keep her focused going forward, so we have to do this job of reminding the nursing staff, but its not all the time. The food from my perspective, she gets three square meals, but she doesnt always like the food."

"My mom was admitted in what we would call a massive crisis. She walked into the hospital for a brain tumor biopsy early one Friday morning and she was delivered to Hillside the following day via ambulance under Hospice care with a life expectancy of fewer than 12 weeks. I did not have time to do comprehensive research before I entrusted them with the responsibility of my mother's end of life. I visited my mom every day (sometimes 2x a day) for the last 5 weeks of her life. I don't know where to begin complimenting Hillside. Let's start with first impressions, the facility is clean and smells fresh all the time. The residents milling about the halls all seems happy and comfortable. Every staff member, even the cleaning ladies were genuinely kind. I even got a tour of the laundry room and it was clean, organized and run by a proud sweetheart! Malu, Lola, Eva and the rest of the team took great care of my mom. They took the time to get to know her and really made an extra effort to make her as comfortable as possible. They made special meals for her and always made sure she had her ice water. They gave her an extra shower and always treated her with dignity during the most difficult time of our lives. As my mom declined the team kept her pain under control. They worked hand in hand with Hospice right to the very end. The ladies at Hillside were like a bunch of loving Aunties taking care of everything so that I was able to just be my mom's daughter and focus on my mom's end of life, not her actual care. It was the worst 5 weeks of my life and these ladies held me up and supported me in ways I did not know possible. I can not recommend Hillside enough. "

"My mother was in Hayward Hills for physical therapy. She was hospitalized twice. She was supposed to be there for exercise, but it took them three days to start exercising her. Right after they started, she was having chest pains. We called 911, and they said her heart had been strained. The second time, nobody was watching her, and she was eating while lying down so she was choking. I had to call 911 again. Once when I visited her, I noticed something wrong and found out she was aspirating because her oxygen was only 71, and she would have been dead if I had not come. I asked them for my mother's medical records, and it has been a month since she was there but I still haven't received them."

"Care at this facility was poor. Call bells went unanswered for up to 20 minutes. Only canned fruits and vegetables were providedand on one weekend my dinner consisted only of a chicken salad sandwich. Meals were either cold or lukewarm. The best department in the facility was physical therapy/occupational therapy. The PT/OT staff worked hard to help clients to improve their physical and occupational skills. The housekeeping staff were friendly but did not do a thorough job when it came to keeping the facility clean. "DO NOT EVER SEND ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS DIVE! Talk about neglect. These people are incompetent, rude, uncaring, and change the hospital doctor's plans in order to keep the patients there longer. We pulled my Mom out of there after 4 days. They lost her clothing, left her sitting on the side of her bed with a diaper around her ankles, took away her walker when she was supposed to have physical therapy specifically to walk more. When her or roommate would ring the bell to go to the restroom, they would yell at them and say they were busy so quit ringing the bell. They would rather have them in diapers than do their job. My Mom arrived being able to communicate and left there with severe signs of a stroke. She could not feed herself or talk coherently. They had not even noticed and said she was "fine" and doing "better". They had no idea. It was a filthy, loud facility and they took her nice bed and gave her a mattress about 2 inches thick. This place should be shut down. "

"This facility provides full assistance for residents 24hrs a day for a resident that is mobile or immobile. My Grandfather stayed here and the overall care was fair. The daytime staff was friendly and attentive while the night staff lacked responsiveness to the residents needs at times. The daytime staff encouraged the residents to get dressed daily and to participate in the activities in the cafeteria. Meals were fair and could have been better in flavor. Having family members present was always helpful since staff was always short handed; such as if a resident needed help eating meals the staff rushed through it. This facility was chosen mainly since there were 50 beds total and the resident to staff ratio was better than others. All in all the facility served its purpose."

"The facility was austere did not offer many amenities. Staff were friendly and accomodating. There were two residents per room. There was only one shower room but several bathrooms for ease of access for residents. The recreation room was also the dining room. There was a small garden with a gazebo. Not much space for residents to walk around if you are looking for that kind of thing. "

"When my father was first transferred to Kaiser Sub-acute I hated the facility. It was over-crowded, noisy and everything seemed to be in a state of chaos. There were virtually no facilities available for visitors,no cafeteria, no waiting room, not even vending machines for coffee or snacks. My father had no telephone in his room and none was available; I had to rush to the T-mobile store at a local mall to add a line to my cell phone so he would have a way to contact me if he needed anything. It was stressful and upsetting, to say the least. After his first night at this facility, however, my opinion changed completely He was still quite ill (in fact, I felt that he should have stayed at the hospital for another day or two) and I was very concerned that the staff would not be equipped to attend to all of his needs. There were no doctors "in-house" and I feared that the high patient to staff ratio would negatively impact their ability to care for him properly.I need not have worried. The staff were very competent, professional and "on the ball." I called in often, and when I spoke to the nurse it was clear that she was in close contact with his physician, making sure that medication changes and diagnostic procedures were being carried out. She and all of the staff provided excellent care under circumstances that were challenging, to say the least. Even my dad, who was not one for giving compliments, commented again and again about how caring and professional the nurses had been. Although I cannot give this facility high grades for the physical layout or amenities it offered, the staff did a great job, and that is what really matters. Hopefully they have made some improvements in the physical layout since I last visited, which would then bring this up to a five star rating. "
