"We checked Fremont Hills. The facility was nice, and the staff was nice as well. They were proactive. As I was on the tour, other staff came and said hello and stuff like that. I also saw them assisting other patients. I have not tried their food, but they told me that it's not like a packaged meal where everybody gets exactly the same thing. The patients have some options. The view is nice. They have, like, patios. It's a beautiful location. The rooms are clean and spacious. They have activities there."

"My mother moved to Emeritus last July. The place is very clean. The people there are very caring. They embraced my mother, welcomed her, and made her feel at home. They’re very caring and I’m pleased to find them. She is sharing a room with one other person; they share a bathroom and a sink. She has her bed, a dresser, her own closet, and a near window so she can see out. She’s very comfortable. They have activities everyday like Bingo, they take the residents out for walks, and they have exercise and karaoke nights. They have family nights where families could come and have dinner with their loved ones. They have a newsletter featuring residents. They have different varieties of food, and they accommodate the needs of residents. I would recommend their caring staff and level of commitment to each individual resident. As soon as you get there it’s like they’re your family. "

"I toured Bellara Senior Living. It was nice, very fancy. An experience that you want for anyone senior and transitioning into their later years. They have on-call nurses, and they have everything that you need there, you don't have to go out and get it, very much assisted. Everything is there all at once. You don't have to go anywhere. The staff was nice. They were very welcoming. They just wanted to get to know me and my family and make sure that if we were choosing that place, it would be the right place for us. It's a very new building. They had a bar. They had a bunch of seating areas. They had fancy bathrooms. They had a workout area. They had a whole courtyard where you could sit and talk and grill food. They had a beautiful kitchen that was restaurant-style."

"Ivy Park at Hayward had a very attentive staff. I had a very nice visit. I got to meet the head of departments. Everybody was very informative and attentive. I looked at several apartments. I think there were three very distinctly different apartments as it relates to a studio, a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom living arrangement, and they were all in their own way very nice. They had many amenities. I thought their extracurricular activities that they had were incredibly amazing. They have bus trips, shopping, or even on-site organized gatherings for different occasions throughout the year. They were all very well-orchestrated and very nice. The staff who gave the tour was the senior director of new customer hosting, and she was incredible. She was great. I had a meal there. I met the chef, he was incredible, and his name was Sergio. His meals were top notch. It was incredibly beautiful. It was clean and it smelled clean. It was nicely decorated."

"I toured Ivy Park at Pleasanton. I like the facility. It's clean and all. What I didn't like is the $6,000 deposit. When I asked them about how and when I can recover once my dad moves in, they said that it's just out the door, and that's a question mark for me. But I do love the place. I like the coziness and the fact that it's close to my location, with a nice ambiance overall. They have pianos all over the place."

"Sunol Creek Memory Care specializes in memory care, so their staff is trained to deal with people who have memory issues such as dementia or confusion. They know how to treat my friend. The staff talks to him and is nice to him. He has a private room, and we had to bring the furniture. He has a little TV that his family bought for him, as well as a bed, a small sofa, a chair, and a reading lamp. They have common areas where they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They encourage residents to come to the common eating area, but sometimes the residents prefer to have their meals served in their rooms. They have an area for arts and crafts activities, and in their reception area, they offer good chocolate chip cookies."

"My parents have transitioned very well at Parkview because their staff is loving, and caring and made this very difficult move easier for parents. It's never easy moving your parents from their beloved home, but knowing that they are very well cared for with good meals, receive their medications, and living a beautiful setting makes it easier on the family. I would highly recommend Parkview "

"They have a beautiful garden that is astounding. The decor there was breathtaking. Nothing like I've ever seen at a board and care or assisted living. It was very personable. It was a beautiful place. The owner and the other workers I saw there were very hands-on and kind, and that's very important to us, and very accommodating. It was a very nice facility overall. I got to see their meal plan and the dinner served. It was something that I would want to sit down and eat myself. It was home-cooked. It wasn't like a meal tray or anything like that. It was like a plate of food that you would sit down with your family and eat. I saw their activity schedule. They have the best price I've seen in the area."

"Emerald Valley is a beautiful facility. Mom lives there and the people are very helpful and very accommodating. The food is very good. They have a very good activity director and she has a very good list of activities that they have an opportunity to do on a daily basis. They have a calendar that is posted everywhere, noting those activities and times, and I am impressed. They also have live entertainment and they provide transportation to anywhere my mom would need to go to for appointments. The place is very clean. Their food is restaurant style, where residents are treated with a lot of dignity. They have waiters that will come to them and show them a menu. They also have a bistro which allows them fresh fruit and drinks any time."

"Eden Villa has a very caring staff and is a very light-filled, open, spacious, and pretty facility that doesn’t have any bad smell. They have activities like music, musicians coming in to play live music, visiting pets, and birthday parties. I had a sandwich for lunch one day, and it was fine, very basic. My dad had fish and vegetables and ate the entire thing. It has a really nice and big outdoor courtyard in the middle and super high ceilings in the main room, which makes it feel really spacious and light. I’ve never smelled urine or any bad smell, and this is the only place I went to that did not smell. The room is nice and has a window in it. It’s one of the nicest, if not the nicest place that I’ve looked at. There isn't a ton of amenities, but he doesn’t need a ton of amenities. They had a really nice activity room where they do arts and crafts, and framed artwork of the residents who can do artwork, which is really sweet. The dining room is nice, and they had three or four different lounge areas. "

"I visited Marymount Villa, and they were excellent. They were very clean, well organized, and they seemed like to have quite a few activities for the seniors; like bingo and music. They had a list of activities. The rooms were pretty spacious, and well maintained. I did not taste the food, but they had a full-menu available. The director helped me tour the property, and he answered all my questions. Overall, it was good. "

"Having just been at CreekView my second time & finding a huge amount of the same staff there from a year ago, was comforting in itself. They are the ONLY place I choose to go for rehab! Thank you for the wonderful, caring staff, including chefs, laundresses & housekeeping! Having been in 2 other places in the past, CreekView is the place to go! The physical therapists were awesome & so helpful! Thank you"

"Atria at Foster Square was very nice and very modern. It's like being on a cruise ship and you're on vacation or you're staying at a hotel, but it felt very homey. They provide activities like arts and crafts, and they do movies. They were watching the Super Bowl game at that time, and they had a big buffet going on. They had everything and the staff was great. I was really impressed with their restaurant, and it's open all the time. You can order and the menu was pretty amazing."

"I went to Meadow Gardens of Menlo Park, and I assigned my wife to stay there. The place has good vibes. I'm very happy with what I've seen so far and based on what I've seen in other places, it looks super to me. I've been there a total of maybe 2 hours. I looked at the place and I even met the chef and saw the room that my wife will occupy. I had a chance to critique certain details like how easily my wife could accommodate the toilet seat arrangement. There were a lot of little details that we talked about. I'm very happy with their responsiveness and their perspective on the whole situation. Plus, the facility itself is quite nice. It's in a residential area, and it looks like a large residence. It has the architecture and the layout of a residence. The staff were all quite dedicated. Every time somebody came by who was a potential caregiver, they stopped and introduced that person. They even introduced some people who are not on the staff there, but who happened to be there from some other auxiliary facility or some service organization. I was very happy with everybody I met there. I don't feel any tension in the place. Sometimes you go into a facility and you talk to the employees, you can detect tension, but I don't detect any tension there. Everybody is focused and with it, and responsive and friendly. All the positive things. The facility is immaculate. It looks cleaner than some of the hotels I used to stay in when I traveled in business. I was quite surprised by the room. I was expecting something quite generic. It's a very neat, clean, single bedroom with an adjacent bathroom. There is a window onto a garden from there, so that works. "

"I went to Sunrise of Redwood City. I toured their assisted living and memory care. I like that it was a complete care center where they don't force them to leave if they get too sick. The buildings were very nice. It's brand new. The person who assisted me was very knowledgeable. She answered all my questions. I saw that there was a lecture going on. The rooms were nice. There was a nice variety of sizes and designs."

"My friend moved here a few years ago, and I was ready to join her immediately! Later, a different friend's parents also moved here. This is a phenomenal community, with fascinating people (many from the Stanford community) and great facilities. They run buses to the Stanford Campus for residents to audit classes, or attend sporting and cultural events. It is right across the street from the nicest shopping center in Palo Alto. My aspiration is to move here someday, too! "
