"I liked Atria at Foster Square the best, because the people were having activities there. It's a smaller community, which is nice, especially since my uncle is more quiet and keeps more to himself, so it might suit him better. The person who gave me the tour was very nice and very enthusiastic. He invited us to go to lunch, but unfortunately we couldn't make it, because my uncle was still hesitant on the whole assisted-living thing, but he was very understanding, so that's very good for the level of care he needs. The facility was very modern and very new. I liked it a lot because it didn't feel like assisted living, but more of a modern apartment complex. They had railings on the side of the wall, too, and I think it's pretty good to have that."

"We chose Peninsula Reflections. I liked the place. It was very nice. The room was big and a single for my partner. I felt warm when we went there and talked to the people. The staff seemed very nice and knowledgeable. They knew what they were doing, especially the one in the admin who was very friendly and made my partner feel good. The menu looked OK; however, my partner needed everything blended. They had a big room for activities with a big TV. They had karaoke and other singers who came by to sing. The residents seemed to enjoy that. They had a quiet room, which was a small room with a TV. They seemed very cooperative. When you asked something, they were willing to help you. They had a doctor who seemed very nice."

"My visit to Mission Villa was positive, the surroundings were nice, and the staff was very pleasant. The rooms were modest, but fine, and the security seemed good. "

"It is a new facility. It's only been open for a month. So far, we've found the staff to be very professional and enthusiastic. They're working hard to figure it out, especially that my aunt is in their memory care center, behavioral issues which she certainly has. They communicate it as best as they can, figure it out, and talk it out with us. They communicate well with us about that. It's a beautiful, beautiful facility. It's brand new. What's nice about that is not just that it's brand new, but that they built it with assisted living and memory care in mind. The common rooms are large, ample, and nicely appointed. There are lots of different rooms for different activities. It doesn't feel as cramped and small as some of the other places we saw (which were nice) that were renovated from some other kind of building. This place has been built with a purpose in mind, and they did a beautiful job with it so spaces are good and rooms are nice. They have activities, but because it's new and my aunt's still trying to get used to it, she hasn't taken part in too many yet. I know that they have many. They have lots of things around in their memory care for textures and activities. They could sit at a table and do or feel like an enrichment activity. I'm not quite sure what the technical term is. I know that when she gets a little more comfortable there and is able to take part in more things, there's going to be plenty of things that she can do (both with groups and on her own). She just moved in 3 weeks ago, so we're still trying to get into transition. I have not had a full meal there, but the food looks good and the menu looks good. My aunt is happy with the food. She's a vegetarian, so it was important that they pay attention to that and they have been doing it. I haven't heard her complain at all about the food. Many of the staff are sort of young and figuring out their way. They're doing a good job with it. I know that they'll be fine in the future, but they still have some things to learn. They know that though, and they're working on it."

"I just liked that the staff at Meadow Gardens of Menlo Park seemed very involved with the residents. They were sitting around and playing the piano and everybody was engaged. Looked like they were very caring, too. They have outside gardens where the residents could go. We saw a single room with a bed and a dresser in it. It was very spacious."

"Silver Point Plaza was an old facility that needed updating. It did not meet the needs of my dad, but the staff seemed to be very friendly and eager. The place was clean and provided activities. "

"The Vi at Palo Alto is an incredible facility. It is located near Stanford University, and the University community is very closely linked. There are many former professors and alumni at the Vi. The first thing you notice is the lovely valet parking, the young men are kind and welcoming. Many of the residents are socially active, and there are many activities provided to residents. The building itself is beautiful, with large windows and very nice architecture. Overall this facility is highly recommended. The luxurious atmosphere comes at a high price, but if it can be afforded, it is well worth it. "

"My brother moved to Buena Vista Manor House. Location is important to us and so we chose that place because it is centrally located for our family in San Francisco. It's an intimate facility. It's not too big and everybody seems to be very nice and accommodating. My brother seems to be getting along very nicely there and the people have been open to his disability and trying to work with that. They provide three meals a day. I had lunch the other day when my brother had some food and it was good. It was a cold lunch for me. I didn't have a hot meal, but they have nice proportions, and a varied menu, and they give you a balanced meal. There's protein, fruit, and liquids. They should have some area though, where you could have water or coffee if you want, like a little side station where during the day, residents/visitors could have a cup of coffee or some iced water or snacks. Pretty much the kitchen's only open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's no overflow of snacks or anything. They have daily activities for the residents and I see people participating and having a good time with that. My brother is in a small room that gets cleaned every week. They do laundry service and they distribute his medicines, but there's no nursing care, and that's one negative."

"I know somebody that stays here. They're pretty good. They have the standard assisted living amenities, and their activities are pretty good. They have entertainment, and they have a really nice lobby. Sometimes they have people playing classical music on the piano, and they serve you snacks. The residents seem to enjoy looking at the performances. The staff is pretty friendly, at least to me. You don't feel like you're in an assisted living facility. It's very clean, very modern, and very nice."

"I liked the Elders Inn but the only problem is that it's a little bit high in price for me. I'd go there twice a week for therapy. It's a nice, quiet place and the people are very nice. They're well kept, well dressed and seems to be upper income. The rooms were nice, the waiting room and the people are very nice. It's a very comfortable place, the area that I saw was immaculately clean. They have a very good facility for rehab, too. I would have no problem if I had to go in there. "

"Marymount Villa has very nice staff. They did have activities, and they are really nice as well. I didn't taste the food though. It was clean, and it was very friendly. The rooms are very spacious. I only got to see the shared room, and it was OK. It was very clean and accommodating. They have a very beautiful garden too. "

"Coterie Cathedral Hill Memory Care was the perfect place for my sister. My highest praise goes to the director Christina and to each member of the staff for their skillful and competent care for each resident as an individual. Daily I observed how much they truly cared for not only the residents but also their families. My family and I learned to understand better what was happening with my sister who was diagnosed with dementia and learned how to better respond to her. Monthly support group provided helpful advice and experience sharing. Daily activities were carefully planned to be fun, engaging and appropriate. Meals were delicious and inviting. I will always be grateful to everyone at Coterie Memory Care for making my sister happy and most of all for making her feel at home.."
