"I've lived in Mountainview for forty years and I wanted something close to my house. I had a list of about 40 places to choose from and this Mountainview healthcare center sounded most attractive. My brother checked it out and said it would be okay. I've been here long enough to be very comfortable. It's a wonderful place. On my side of the building, we have a little yard, and in the middle of the building, there's an atrium that's landscaped. There's a big tree and four therapeutic bunny rabbits. My room is wonderful. I have very good care. They have very good and capable CNAs, they respond in emergency situations well and on a day to day basis they're quite good. The nursing staff is very competent and more tuned to geriatric services than others. The director of nursing is just fabulous and the ombudsman is quite remarkable. There is a very good physical therapy staff and they really address the needs of the patients. There's a very active resident council and a good activities department. They have activities that are good for the Alzheimer's unit, for everybody and adults that are more functioning because 90% of the patients are wheelchair bound. We also have a part time beautician here. They're constantly working on the food and they take criticism, compliments and constructive suggestions well from the residents. For the 4th of July, we had the most wonderful barbecue outside and there was even a piano player. It doesn't cost an arm and a leg to be here and it provides a lot for the money. "

"My father was admitted to Los Altos Rehab Center about 7 months ago. We have found that this center has the most caring, loving, and professional staff. My dad had very serious conditions and complications, and I could trust the staff that they have done their best. It was the best decision we made to have my dad there, since by no means we could have supported him at his home the way he was supported at this facility, and we had peace of mind, to know that he was well taken care of even when we were not there all the time. At his passing, Laura director of activity was very supportive, and despite her busy schedule attended to his funeral and the staff has been keeping in touch to see how my family is doing, We strongly recommend Los Also Rehab center to anyone in need of care for their love ones. The staff are really angels and we do not know how they handle all the people with serious conditions, and stay calm and caring. I personally want to thank, director of center Marc, for his support in moving my dad to another room because of his room mate situation, Janet the social worker who supported us through out difficult times, Laura director of daily activities who brought all patients together on daily basis keeping them interetsed and have them involved, while socializing with one another, most kindest and caring people were the nurses: Miss. Nini, Sheila, Melanie, Merta, Lizel. Last but not least the nurses assistants specially Bijo, Wanchi, and the list goes on, who had the most difficult job, but dispite of that they did so much for my dad I can't never thank them enough for all the care and love an attention they have given my dad up to his last breath and beyond. "

"My mom is at Sunnyvale Post Acute Center. The people were very kind, and my mom was welcomed very warmly. The facility is like a one-story multi-wing building, and there's a big courtyard in the center where people can go and get some sunshine. There's a fountain in it. The rooms are nice, but there are no showers in the bathrooms. The social worker is very kind. The room is more like a hospital. They have a workout area and a little library. I wish the residents had a little bit more outdoor space."

"The Terraces at Los Altos is great. The facility itself is very well taken care of. It's not dirty or rundown-looking. It seems very well groomed. The staff seemed really great. They have a good staff-to-client ratio, which I think is fundamental. If the place looks nice, that's obviously good and makes you feel good about the management, but the staff-to-client ratio is so important. We met a few of the staff in the reception area, and when we were walking around, they were very friendly and engaged. Some of them were with a resident, and they were just happy doing their jobs."

"I had rehab for 10 days at Manorcare Health Services. When you go into the main door there's somebody at the desk if you need help, and there's a sitting area to the right, and further to the right, there's a room with coffee and tea and you can get that anytime you want. To the left, you get to the section with the little more upscale rooms, and to the right will be the area that's a little less expensive. I chose to be in the better area and opted for a private room. The staff was wonderful, very kind and helpful. I like the staff a lot. The nurses and aides were very accommodating. The problem I ran into was they loaded all the trays onto a cart and brought them to the rooms, and I felt that the food was just lukewarm and not hot. I told them about it and they told me they can have my food held in the kitchen until I was ready for it and they can go get it and bring it to me, which they did, and that worked out wonderfully well. The food that was supposed to be hot was hot, and the food that was supposed to be cold was cold, and the food was very tasty. They have quite a few activities, one being going to a large room where you can have wine and snacks, as well as arts and crafts."

"My wife was in Cedar Crest for about a month and a half in a shared room. They had good activities and did some outside. The people working there were very nice, and the food was good. "

"We placed my father-in-law at Sunny View and he's happy there. It seemed really good, we didn't smell any urine, and it seemed very clean. The residents are very nice to each other, and the employees are very nice to the residents. The food is good. It's not spectacular, but they present it very nicely. They have exercise classes every day for different levels, social activities almost every day, and it's up to the residents to decide if they want to paricipate. My father-in-law has fallen a couple of times and within minutes they are right there helping him."

"My grandmother has been living here for over 8 years now. She is almost 90 years old and I visit often so I do notice the quality of living here. The staff for the most part are very friendly and helpful. They smile when I enter and promptly help me when I'm looking for extra bed sheets, towels, or something else. The facility is also very clean, will clearly labeled signs at every hall and on every door. My grandmother is diabetic and also has high cholesterol, so her meals have special requests and specific instructions. She is to never receive juice with her meals; only hot water. She also needs to have her food blended so it is easier to chew and digest. There are many more specific meal requests we put in for her. Throughout the past decade, they have for the most part followed these guidelines very well, which is amazing. The facilities are good here as well. There is a fitness room with age-appropriate equipment. There is also a common room where daily activities are held, such as bingo or movie night. There's also a piano in this room, which sometimes prompts performers to come and play various songs for everyone. Overall, this place has a friendly and caring atmosphere and an effort is made to fill everyone's day with fun and a positive living experience. "

"I like the facility's individualized care plan for their residents meaning everyone has different cases, different situations which they have their own needs that requires specific care. "

"The staff, amenities, and facilities were great. It was split up into 3 sections: assisted living, retired living, and hospital environment living. All were great. The retired living were a bit small, but it was nice to see that the citizens had friends to be with. Overall, I would probably be willing to live there after retirement. "

"I like Valley House Care Center. It's very close to my house. The staff is really friendly and very accommodating. It's pretty fair and OK, and they have physical therapy. They have Bingo, someone plays the piano, and someone sings and dances."

"Amberwood Gardens is the only one available. Actually they were talking about having to look at the Central Valley area to places we would never be able visit my dad. They were releasing him, but they could not release him back to his home. This facility is the first one that came up. The staff was incredibly kind and caring. They seem to enjoy their job. They have been great. They have kept in contact with my sister who is the primary contact. We have no complaints as far as being kept abreast. I try to visit my dad almost every other day, and the facility always looks clean. I'm pleased with that aspect for sure. "

"I visited facility several times. Staff immediately approached me smiling and offered help. Facility is very clean and patients look very happy. I asked one of the patient if she likes the place and she replied it's the best nursing home in the area. I was convinced after I was given a tour of the facility, that place is very well managed, owners care about their residents and employees. "
