I moved into the Terraces at Los Altos. It was the best of what I looked at. We have two dining rooms, an exercise area, a meeting room, a pool, and all sorts of stuff. The staff members are very helpful. The facility is very clean. The food is good. They have all sorts of programs here. The dining room looks just like a normal restaurant.

The Terraces at Los Altos is a lot more expensive than the other places. It was a pretty posh memory care unit. The rooms were lovely. The dining room was lovely. The activities they had were really good. They have assisted living and independent living there. The community itself has been updated in the last four or five years. The memory care was very, very nice. The staff that I interacted with was very transparent, informative, and able to explain what they can offer. It's a very lovely place. It's newer than all the other places that I went to. They were all nice, but this was just an upper grade. Even though it's a memory care unit, the feeling was it's a nice senior community.

My family member was a previous patient at the skilled nursing side. The grounds and facilities are very nice especially compared to other facilities however the staff and service is a mixed bag. The receptionist, social activity managers and food staff are wonderful and accommodating. We had good CNAs and nurses who were kind and caring but clearly overworked and understaffed. Others were transactional and careless, including giving late and/or repeated medications on more than one occasion (including the Director of Nursing). When confronted with these concerns, leadership was combative and dismissive and threw their floor staff under the bus instead of being accountable for their role in creating a toxic working environment. I had a conversation with the Health Services Administrator who seemed genuinely concerned and willing to help but when I followed up with an email, I never received a response or plan of action. Think twice before sending a loved one here and don’t be fooled by the nice grounds. The inside is a different story.

The Terraces at Los Altos is very clean. It is a Medicare-qualified facility. My mom is currently there and the residents are very happy. They have different types of activities like music programs, social interaction, flower design, and arts. The food is also top-notch. The staff has been wonderful. They are one of the best. The care they provide is high level. They have a doctor that visits weekly and nurses on call that are always there. They are friendly people, too.

The Terraces at Los Altos is in a neighborhood, which is not within walking distance of anything. It's maybe a mile from downtown, and so most people aren't going to walk that far. Downtown Los Altos is small and charming, but it's not within walking distance of much of anything. The units are nice. When we arrived there, a bus was just coming back from San Francisco. We didn't have a meal. They showed us menus, and the menus looked good. They have very small balconies. It is a little less spacious in terms of the campus itself. It's a little bit isolated there. The staff person is nice. She's very good.

I've been to The Terraces of Los Altos. I have a lot of friends there and I've also gone on a regular tour. I think it is lovely and has a lot of things to offer. I think it is fairly expensive too. More expensive than I quite realized, because there is a large down payment and the monthly expenses. If you want to go there, which I think is one of the nicest ones in our area, then you should go sooner when you can take advantage of them. Don't wait so long in your home. The only things I toured were the rooms and the regular independent living. The food is not anything to rave about. The problem with The Terraces right now is they always have to wear their masks still. They can't get together, except outside, without their masks when they play games. A lot of things haven't been opened so I think it was a really bad time. My friend just went in right during the pandemic, and so she wasn't able to take advantage of the normal life. She was very isolated. The only activity that she really has done is the exercise room. It hasn't been open all the days of the week and it has been limited. She plays outside with her friends in the afternoons, which will be impossible as it gets colder. The rules during this COVID-19 have been very strict, which, of course, is to be expected. I realized I'm much freer at home. I am glad I didn't go in yet. I think some of the rooms are lovely. I went to see a one- or two-bedroom room on the tour. It's a big, new building.

I visited The Terraces at Los Altos last month. I think that the people there are all very welcoming and helpful. The guests that we ran into as we were visiting the place were also very friendly. The place is beautifully kept, and they have supportive activities for people who live there. It's clean, it's beautifully done, and it was a place that I think anybody would like to move into. The staff was very supportive and friendly. The facility was clean, neat, and spacious. It was the kind of place that I think most people would be happy to move into. The menu was varied, it looked scrumptious, and it was inviting.

The Terraces is high end, and it's very nice. The buildings itself are very new. In the last five years, they've done a complete remodel/rebuild up the property itself. The gardens are gorgeous, too. The staff is excellent. It's more designed as maybe an independent community. You're probably looking about $9,000 to $10,000 a month there. It is much more of sort of independent, but not necessarily. The air in the way it's designed is very much open, more resort style than institution style. The staff is a full range; let's call it a full range, full spectrum of people. There's the young, vibrant group. The the group that's helping because they can understand the transition that's going on. By and large, there was no real problems with staffing whatsoever. I found the activities to sort of relatively the same. Everyone's got their afternoon exercise sessions, two or three times a week. Seemed like that's all relative to getting your patients to participate, so some places there were more participants, more lively. It was very nice. It's almost parklike setting. That whole thing is set up to be as much a resort community as it is a senior living. They have a small bistro that you can get sandwiches in all day long.

We toured The Terraces at Los Altos. It's beautifully located. It's a lovely place to be. It's close to downtown in a nice, pleasant neighborhood. It was comfortable. Everything was very attractive. This was during the lockdown, so nothing much is happening. I can't say that I observed anything going on other than friendly interaction between the people there. The staff was perfectly pleasant, nice, and helpful. We have gone to visit two different apartments, and they're both perfectly lovely and pleasant. Everything we saw was fine and really nice. The layout was excellent. I only met a couple of the staff, but they seem to be doing an excellent job.

We went to the Terraces of Los Altos last month. We think we will be very happy there. It's a nice community. It's close, within walking distance for shopping and stuff like that. It's a fairly expensive place for our needs. We've only seen the marketing folks. They're knowledgeable and helpful. We had lunch there, and it was very pleasant. They've got a reasonable amount of green space. The independent living rooms looked appropriate. They're reasonably sized and laid out. Some of them had good views in the south; some had a little darker views in the north, but overall good.

My mother has been living at the terraces for 20 years. At first it was wonderful, but in the last three years there has been a large addition of rooms and a memory center. My mother's needs have been largely ignored in favor of the new residents. Her toilet, for example gets clogged twice a week and no one has come to fix it. There are many other examples of her needs not being met.

The Terraces at Los Altos was very nice, but twice as expensive as where my father-in-law is. He was in the rehab part of it, and our experience was very good. They seemed to be very attentive and there was always somebody there when I was there. They were always helping and giving him stuff to do. They're always watching what everybody is doing. They're pretty much right on top of it.

The Terraces was very nice, it was neat, and very well-maintained. We had a tour of the available residences, they gave us floorplans, menus for the week, and activities for a month. We had dinner with a couple who lived there. The food was terrific and we thought the atmosphere was very good. They have a salon, they provide transportation to doctors' appointments, and they have parking spaces for the residents. The apartments were very nice, nicely appointed, very clean, with a washer and dryer, and a full kitchen. It was very attractive to us.

At The Terraces, we were able to visit the places where you eat and have things for people to do. We saw stand-alone units or small house types. The new part however was very expensive, and we were not interested in it. We talked to a lot of the people that lived there, and they were very happy with it. They have a lot of things for people to do.

A few months ago my mother was in an accident that resulted in a broken hip. After the hip replacement, I was rushed to put her into a rehabilitation center and handed a several page list of facilities and told that The Terraces at Los Altos was a very good one and, indeed, they had a 5 out of 5 star "superior" rating. They were the only one I had time to visit and it looked like a nice place so that's where we put her. It turns out that they have a lot more "memory care" patients than they do rehabilitation patients so my mother was very uncomforatble with the people in her wing of the facility. The staff are very nice but my mother did not like or get along with the physical therapist (I don't blame the therapist for that - no idea what happened there). Terry, who is "in charge" there, seems nice enough when you first talk to her, but it turns our she is very passive-aggressive, evasive and controlling. Very soon after my mother was places at The Terraces, we started hearing, "Your mother is not participating in her recovery and is going to have her Medicare withdrawn." We were given zero advice as to what to do about this. In fact it is extremely common after a fall for hip replacement patients to be terrified of standing and falling again because it is extremely painful. The fact that they seemed to have no interest in or experience in dealing with this issue is telling. It's a very expensive place so one would think they would have such experience and skills. When I first read up on The Terraces, before my mother went in, their health inspection rating was 4 out of 5. Since my mother was admitted, I picked up two serious illnesses. The Medicare was, indeed cut off, and the place she is not at is treating her for gout and some kind of infection. My husband has infectious pneumonia. I had shots for pneumonia and shingles not too long after we moved to CA so I was spared that particular malady. A couple of days ago, when I was doing research on nursing homes, I noticed that The Terraces health inspection rating has dropped from 4 to 2 out of 5, which is not a surprise. To top it off, the foam "A-form" that my mother's insurance paid for at the hospital, to keep her legs in place while she slept so that her hip could continue to heal, was kept by The Terraces, as they INSISTED that it was theirs, which is about as cheesy as it gets. Really, anyone in the Bay area who is looking into nursing and recovery for a family member, I implore you not to send them to The Terraces at Los Altos. Not only the health problems, but they were astonishingly distant with Momma's problems, not only not forthcoming on what was going on with her but seemed only interested in collecting the Medicare fees. The place where she is now is not only half as expensive, but the staff and administrators are much more involved with her and communicative with us, not to mention cleaner and safer.

I was a volunteer at The Terraces, which provides tiered assisted living. The facility is outdated, but they are preparing for a major renovation - plans look beautiful - and I would update to 4 stars once completed. Residents seem well cared for; the staff is very caring and jovial. There are many activities for residents to take advantage of. The facility is in the middle of a residential area and there is a lot of bustle from a neighboring elementary school (Santa Rita) and surrounding houses. There are also a lot of volunteers that come in to do special events which the residents seem to enjoy.

The Terraces is a nice facility that could use a few touch-ups but with pretty gardens. The staff is helpful, caring and dedicated to their work as well as their residents. Also, the location of this home creates a happy and bright atmosphere as it is directly next to a elementary school. Local teenagers often volunteer at The Terraces.
