My brother Ralph has been living at The Avalon for over 14 years. During that period we have visited him numerous times. During each visit he has shown himself to be very well taken care of and happy to be living there. The staff and administrator have been very helpful in taking care of his needs through the years, and have always greeted us with a friendly welcome. We look forward to visiting him at the Avalon with its warm, homelike atmosphere -- a place my brother has been happy to call home. William Pisani

Do not consider for your loved one. It is extremely difficult to find a quality Medicare approved residence , which is partly why I chose this for Mom. Over the past few years, it has simply gone down hill. The food is horrible. Staff is understaffed and rude (a few exceptions). The Administrator is unresponsive to concerns and basically taking in anyone with Medicare. My mother had an incident this week, where a resident who is not mentally fit for the home, urinated in her bed. She then pooped on floor. The staff member responsible for cleaning refused and threatened to quit. My mom had to strip her bed and flip her own mattress. The staff and administrator did not even approach my mom the next day to check on her or apologize. Her response? Good help is hard to find. Well, that starts at the top. They dont respect the residents and look at it as a business. I am getting my mother out. The administrator wont return my request for a meeting. Unsafe.. Fed sandwiches for dinner every night. dirty.

I've been a resident at Avalon 4 years 8 months. To be bluntly honest I wouldn't recommend this place. Facility upkeep from a housekeeping perspective is poor. First floor dining room alone is in serious need of a deep cleaning. Resident rooms are not cleaned daily. Some are cleaned more often than others. But most are given a decent cleaning once a month? Employees they've been recruiting at Avalon for the evening shift make their own schedule and not adhere to the schedule posted by the Administrator. Are unprofessional, rude, have an overall bad attitudes. They do absolutely nothing whatsoever but on their phones all shift long.

The place is filthy. Staff are friendly when visitors are there otherwise rude to residents. Residents are fed sandwiches most of the time. If you love your family member you will not leave them in their hands. Rooms are small. Very old and outdated. Water stains on the ceiling Carpets are damp. No community activities offered. Terrible place !!

My mom moved into The Avalon Assisted Living and Wellness Center. The place is very nice and homey and I'm very pleased with it. The rooms were very nice and clean. My mom has had no problems with the food. They offer a salon, activities room, shopping, and expeditions. The staff is very good and nice. I'm very pleased with them and I'm very comfortable with my mother being there since she gets the help she needs.

My Brother has been in so many types of facilities over the years and I find that the Avalon was the best ever fit for him. They so their best to provide a homey existence and the staff could not be more friendly and accommodating.

Avalon was fine. It was clean, and the staff seemed OK; not overly-friendly, but not terrible. They were efficient. It was OK. The assisted-living was like an apartment complex or like a dormitory for college students.

The staff at Avalon Assisted Living couldn't be nicer to me for my father-in-law. We're supposed to take him to another facility originally but they made it so difficult for us. In fact, my father-in-law had to undergo an assessment to qualify and they want us to bring my father-in-law who was in a wheelchair. We should bring him in a week to take the assessment but we don't have a wheel chair just for home and they told us to come up with an alternative plan. When we called the Avalon they said we will just have a Facetime call with him or Skype him to decide if they can with the doctor's evaluation, can determine if he is qualified. The Avalon made it so easy for us and every time we call they have a time for us. When my husband and I went to see them we were accompanied by the girl named Irish who was working there. As we were walking everybody was saying "Hi Irish! We love you Irish!" and they all just seem so happy while the other facility was so cold and stiff. Even though this place was not half as nice as the other place we just felt so warm and welcomed and I think my father will just be very happy there. They have a spa room which each resident once a week get to go into. Inside the spa they have a big jacuzzi, candles and music. Then they have bingo nights too. They have two big rooms with big televisions. They don't really have a lot of activities unfortunately.

My mother had a shared room, which was very small. They were not very attentive people and not very caring. Avalon was a little bit of a rundown place on the interior. The menu was very limited.

I visited The Avalon for my parents. It was old and dingy. The room that the resident would be was like a hospital room. There was nothing cozy. It was just not good. The one staff who showed us around was nice. However, the only amenities that I was ever to see were the library and two dining rooms, and that was it! It was a horrible place.
