I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Brookdale Hillsborough tried very hard to be accommodating with my mom. The food is very good. They have a few planning meetings for the residents where they can express their desires and see if the chef can do it. Generally, the food is edible and pretty good. Regarding the structure of the building, it's all totally redone. They just redid the outside painting. The inside was done the year before. My only complaint is the windows are hard to open, and when you do open them, they're just loaded with bugs. They have many activities like games, crafty activities, religious activities, non-generic pastors that come in, Bible readings and discussions, and trips that go to stores. They have enough activities, but you have to be pretty active to do all that stuff.

I went to Brookdale Hillsborough. There was tranquility there. It was nice. The care was nice. From what I saw, the place was clean. The room was clean and sufficient as well. The staff was very kind and very knowledgeable. The dining area was clean. It was an empty space with tables and some chairs and things like that.

My tour at Brookdale Hillsborough was a good experience. I liked the person who we met with. He gave a very good talk and gave us very good information. And I just really appreciated everything that he told us. The facility itself was nice. When we got there, everybody was crowding around the lobby waiting to go on a bus trip, so we walked in the middle of all these people waiting to go and it kind of overwhelmed my mother. She didn't like seeing all these people sitting in wheelchairs and stuff waiting. But by the end, she said that she did like Brookdale. It may be a little too small for her, but it's definitely on our list. We looked at a one-bedroom apartment that looked like it would work very well for my mother. We like it very much. The place looked very clean and well-run. We spoke to one resident there who was like the resident ambassador who came up to us while we were waiting for our meeting, and she was like, 'This is a great place. I love it. I've been here for six months now and it's fun.' So that was nice. The person at the reception desk was a little off though. She seemed a little disorganized and out of control, which was strange because usually, you walk into these places, and that's the one spot that's very welcoming. But she looked like she was over her head in things going on. The reception desk person could have been a little bit more professional.

Brookdale Hillsborough was a great place, and that was the only one I saw that had a unit with its private outdoor space, which would have worked for us. Unfortunately, it's a half an hour's drive for me, but that's the only reason I am not going to consider it. They told me that they have PT, OT, and speech therapy. The rooms were nice.

Brookdale Hillsborough was very nice. The young lady I spoke to was lovely. She covered all the bases. I spoke to a few of the residents, and they seemed very happy there. I saw a library. I spoke to a nurse who has been there quite some time. She spoke highly of the place. The building itself was in a state of renovation, but yet it looked lovely. The surroundings were very pretty. It looked like a very pleasant atmosphere.

Brookdale Hillsborough has a hotel-like facility. Everyone is very nice and friendly. We were walking around and I was introduced to everyone and they spoke to me. We would stop and take a minute for them to ask me questions and I could also ask them back. I also like the fact that, I don't know if things have changed but my mom has a urostomy so she has a bag and they care for that. That would be a plus for us because not a lot of places care for that. At least, back when she first got her urostomy, just after surgery and putting her in the rehab and the nursing home, I had to teach the nurse who had to take care of her bag because not too many of the nurses would. Only one or two nurses knew how to take care of it. Maybe times have changed and a lot more patients are getting colostomy and urostomy and they're making sure they have trained staff to care for them and that was a plus for me. The nurse that was there said they would have me show them what the routine is with how we care for my mom's urostomy so they would know how to care for it going forward. That was nice for her to say that. They're very caring and they seem to want to provide excellent care for their patients. They seem interested and nice. They were playing bingo in the assisted living part when I was there. In the memory care, there was a gentleman, who said he was an architect or a builder or something like that, and he was building what they call Lincoln Logs. He was sitting there and he was building homes out of it.

We toured Brookdale Hillsborough. My daughter and I both said that when we reach that point in life that we needed a place to go to, we would pick this place. The staff was very nice, it was a spacious, open area. The memory unit that we were looking at is also like assisted living, it was a separate unit. The residents in the memory care seemed very happy there. They were calm, pleasant, and it was a peaceful setting for the memory care unit. We saw the residents, they were walking in the hallway, they greeted us and it was a calm peaceful setting. They gave us a list of the activities that they do, which were the same ones they do in a regular care facility. They have outside groups come in and entertain the residents, they have a library, and they have TVs there.

I did a tour of Brookdale Hillsborough. I wouldn't call it upscale, but it's definitely well decorated, well laid out, and well planned out. Their room choices are nice. They're not fancy, but the facility is very clean. It's just nice. They have separate activities, and it is pretty clear what activities they have going on. It's a very nice campus. They have a man-made pond. I only saw one nurse, and I saw the nursing station. The staff that I interacted with were being very professional. They gave me a lot of inside information. I saw them eating, and I heard that the food is great. It looks like your typical bistro fare food. One of the workers at the front desk said the food is great. It looked like fish sticks and corn to me.

Brookdale Hillsborough was great. They let us sample the food, and then we saw the menu. We met with the person in charge of the kitchen. They were all very nice. The facility was good. I thought the staff members were great. It wasn't the fanciest place that we visited.

We’re fine with Brookdale Hillsborough. We’re content with the whole thing; I just wanted to get the price down, and we did that by moving my loved one to another room. There was no problem other than the monthly fee, and that changed by putting her in a different room. I asked them about the options, and they gave me options. They appreciated my concerns, and they worked with me.

The rooms sizes at Brookdale Hillsborough were very nice. We met a couple of their staff members who were very informative and able to answer all of the questions that we had. The place was a little bit older. I saw their dining room which had a nice fireplace in it, but I am not sure if it would fit all of the residents if they all go down at the same time. With their activities, they have extensive activities for their residents. They invited my father for their activities, which I think was nice. They went above and beyond even before my father moved in.

Brookdale Hillsborough's manager was really informative. The most important things there for us were the cleanliness, that the meals were provided, and the extra services that were provided, like showers and getting medications. It was located in a nice neighborhood right down the street from a high school. However, they were very pricey.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My mother was in Brookdale Hillsborough for a month. That place was exquisite too; everything from the atmosphere to the staff. It was just a respite room, so she did not have any of her personal things in there, and it was just temporary until we could get her into the one up here. They had shows, they went to the theater or out to eat, and they had parties and Bingo. She said the food was delicious. The respite room was just the bed and the dresser, just the bare necessities. They were extremely accommodating like she didn’t have a phone and I called quite often and they allowed her to call me anytime she wanted on their phone. My cousins in North Carolina and even my son would call her, and they would go and get her whenever we would call. Brookdale Hillsborough was twice the price to the one here in Danvers for the same accommodations, and I think that’s just the state of New Jersey.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom had been in Brookdale Hillsborough. It was a beautiful facility. They based it on the ability of your parent on how much they could care for themselves versus how much they needed to be taken care of, as far as the staff goes. The room had a double bed. It was a double occupancy. It had dresser drawers, TV, radio, a full bath and elevator accessibility. It was very nice. The staff was very caring, and very attentive to all the people that were in there. They had exercise activities, games, church, beautician, and she could leave as long as she wanted for they and then go back as long as she was signed in and out. She could do anything that she wanted. The flexibility to be able to take her wherever she wanted to go and be with the family as long as she wanted to be. The quality of care was excellent. It was a great place.

I visited Brookdale Hillsborough; it was a very nice experience. They’re only 3 miles from my house. It was clean, bright, full of light, and cheerful-looking. The staff there was very pleasant; they make eye contact with everyone. The person who took me on a tour was more than accommodating. The room that she showed me was occupied by a resident, but the square footage was smaller than what I had envisioned for my mother to be living in. The residents in the assisted living area were interacting among themselves, and I thought that that was very good.

I found three of them in Hillsborough. I went to three of them, and they were all similar in general practice. Some of them offered a little bit more of one thing and someone else of another. All of them I would be fairly happy probably when the time comes to do something there. They were very helpful, all of them. They gave me a tour and talked about what they do and so on. Everything was satisfactory as far as I'm concerned. I liked all of them and was satisfied basically with all of them. Right now, they all seem to be equal.

The Emeritus at Hillsborough was a very good facility. We were considering moving my mother there, but they were limited apparently when patients start to get to more advanced stages of Alzheimer's. They had a fairly wide and open dining area. They seemed perfectly good. The only problem I had was that they could not take care of late stages of Alzheimer's or dementia.

Emeritus at Hillsborough is wonderful and beautiful. They have a fireplace right in the lobby, and all the elders are right there, some talking to each other. There is a staff member at a desk so you feel someone is right there watching. Nobody will wander out, or if a stranger came in, at least there was someone there. I walked by the dining area, and it is beautiful. It's like a five star restaurant because they have staff waiting on them. I liked the fact that it felt really homey, cozy, and safe. Even in the hallway down where the bedrooms are located, it felt like a hotel more than it did a nursing facility. There were nurses on staff, but it didn't feel like a nursing home. It felt like a hotel or someone's home.

Emeritus at Hillsborough is also a very nice facility. They were very welcoming, and the place was just really clean and pleasant, but just a little too far from me. I have visited Emeritus at Hillsborough. I was treated by the staff very nicely. The place is definitely nicer than the other facility I visited and was a lot newer looking, that's for sure, but I think it was very expensive. It was very clean. I think the residents didn't really look like they were disengaged, but I didn't talk to anybody. I didn't say that much. I walked around it. They walked me in their room and talked to me a little bit. They gave me a brochure and they sent me out on my way. They spent more time with me at the other facility than they did at the Emeritus. I had a pleasant visiting experience, but I wouldn't put my mother there.

I am a friend or relative of resident

After visiting the two assisted living facilities in my neighborhood, we chose Emeritus for my relative because it seems to us to be the cleaner and more pleasant of the two facilities. The employees were friendly and attentive to the residents. Although money was not the major factor, Emeritus offered our family more "perks" and services for our money. We are very pleased with our choice and feel that our relative is receiving outstanding care.

I enjoyed the time I spent at the assisted living home. The staff was friendly and it was very clean. Everything was always tidy and in order. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a place to put a loved one. Everyone there is just so friendly and it makes visiting the place much more enjoyable. When you walk in for the first time, you are comforted with the clean smell and the pleasant decor. The rooms are nicely sized so that everyone has a good place to live. They also hold activities such as bingo which really gets the people going. They play to win little tickets or points that they can use to spend on things they like.

We went to Emeritus, got a tour and all that. I thought everybody was very friendly and nice. But it's still depressing at this stage of our lives. My wife is pretty young, she's 69 and she's got Alzheimer's. So we saw the wing for memory-impaired. It seems clean. The people seem content enough, but we're in a kind of strange situation because we're young and my wife's got the Alzheimer's and right now I'm receiving chemo for cancer, and it's not helping. So I need to have some place where my wife could go if I don't get better.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I was visiting Emeritus as a relative of someone living there. The facility itself is quaint and well-kept; the interior looks almost like a golf country club, which may or may not be a comforting factor for some seniors. I imagine the furnishings are similar to the type of d̩cor many of the residents had in their previous homes. There was no apparent smell, which was nice. Nearly all uilities do not incur an additional fee. From speaking with my uncle who has stayed, it seems like most if not all of the staff genuinely care for the patrons. Some days, staff can get impatient or short with the seniors, however. There were plenty of activities for the seniors to participate in, including clubs and excursions, as well as multiple wellness and fitness areas. They also allow smaller pets to be brought in and even assist in taking care of them when needed.

Overall we were quite pleased with our experience and visit at Emeritus at Hillsborough. Upon driving up we could easily tell the grounds were well cared for and everything was maintained very well. It was nice to pull up and see how well they kept up on the cleanliness of the entire site. The staff was also very friendly and the residents we saw seemed quite happy. We were able to even interact with several residents to really get an understanding of how they were treated and taken care of. This was big because the staff could easily portray one thing just to get you to believe it. This was not the case. Every resident we spoke to had great things to say which really put our minds at ease. Our biggest concern was the facilities themselves and that where we choose would be a great place for our grandma. After the visit we could tell that Emeritus at Hillsborough would be a top candidate in our upcoming decision. A decision like this is never ever easy but it is nice to know such facilities exist and really truly care about the people they look after. After all, they are our loved ones!

The Emeritus at Hillsborough is a wonderful facility. The staff is always very friendly and they are very kind to my grandmother and meet her every needs. There is 24/7 care for her and I know that she is in good hands there and if anything were to happen to her that they would be able to handle the situation very well. The facility is always very clean and well kept and the rooms are also very nice and a decent size. I loved the fact that the utilities were included in the total charge for a room and it is overall a wonderful place. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

I felt that they offered everything that she needs to be comfortable, and that she would be in good hands. However, regardless of the services provided it is always difficult psychologically for her and I'm sure all of the other patrons living there. This is because knowing you are dependent on other people is something difficult to accept that is constantly apparent when living in such a facility.

The staff seemed nice, It was quiet and not to busy. One of the first things I noticed was the face that the facility was clean. My aunt complained about the fact that she doesn't get the full care she needs as far as food and she also has problems with mobility. We mentioned it to the staff and they assured us that they take her walks and excersize her during the day. The facility all together didn't seem to big but they have things to keep the people who stay there entertained. There was no smell of old people when I walked in which was a pleasant surprise. All together I give it a 4 star rating.

I toured this facility last week. I met with the community relations director. She took her time and didn't rush me through. She refered to the place as a community not a facility which I liked very much. The residents who live there were engaged in an activity that was age appropriate. The residents looked well kept and happy. The interior was well kept and clean. The staff were introduced to me during the tour. Some of the staff have been there a long time, over 5 years. The community relations director said she was fairly new there but was very knowledgeable about the place. The rooms are nice and all the utilities are included! There is no charge for an evaluation of care. The rates are good. Overall it is my #1pick of the 10 places in the Hillsborough area listed. I also looked at 3 other places not listed but this is the best of them all. I put a deposit on a room and am excited to move my dad in!

I visited this facility

I have toured several assisted living facilities and this one was above average. My main reason is that it did not have a smell when you first walk in. Most of the other places I have visited had a smell that hits you in the face when you walk in the front door. Also the staff was generally positive and pleasant here. I noticed that the residents were involved in more activities here and liked the interaction more. On the negative side I did not like the hotel style rooms. The long hallways made it seem different and not as cozy. I have been considering living at a place like this in the future so I will always be critical of assisted living facilities. Overall, this one was above my expectations. The food is another concern of mine. From asking around here it seemed like no negative concerns were voiced by the residents.

At this senior living facility, I was amazed at how much elegance was present and how well each senior was cared for. The facilities were great, clean, and above average. With oldies music playing in the background along with old style furniture, I have no reason to believe that a senior could hate it. Although, despite the staff got the job done, there was no possible way they did it with pleasure. They seemed tired, angry, and didn't want to listen to the seniors one bit. The staff grumbled every where they went, and didn't -t want to live up to the seniors needs, but then again, helped them when necessary .I went there for Bingo once, and every senior seemed pleased and overjoyed, leading me to believe that Emeritus of Hillsborough is a great assisted living facility. Overall, I would recommend this facility to any senior that would like to live in a clean, elegant area.
