Very Poor Communication With Family During Hospice Care I am the grandson of a current Salt Creek resident who is receiving hospice care, and this review is based entirely on my firsthand experience trying to contact her on August 14, 2026. I spent more than an hour making approximately eight calls to the facility. I was repeatedly transferred between staff members, several calls became disconnected, and I ultimately never got to speak with my grandmother. The problem eventually turned out to be very simple. My brother, who holds power of attorney, had authorized me using my commonly used name, “Jim,” while I initially identified myself by my legal name, “James.” I completely understand and support protecting residents’ privacy. What concerned me was how the situation was handled. Instead of explaining that there was an authorization discrepancy and asking the power of attorney to confirm it, I spent more than an hour being passed between staff members. During one call, a staff member who identified herself as a director told me there was no resident there by my grandmother’s name, even though my grandmother was in fact residing at Salt Creek. Later, I was told that the power of attorney would be contacted to resolve the issue. When I checked with him afterward, he told me he had not received a call. For families with loved ones receiving hospice care, opportunities to speak with them are extremely important. I expected much clearer communication, greater patience, and a more compassionate effort to resolve what ultimately appeared to be a simple first-name discrepancy. Based on this experience, I believe Salt Creek needs significant improvement in how family calls and authorization questions are handled.

Our experience here at Salt Creek Senior Living has been excellent. My husband and I are in a two-bedroom with two baths, a kitchen, a dining area, and a living room. The food is excellent. The staff is very friendly. There are a lot of opportunities to do different things. I like to do puzzles, and they have puzzles out. They have a dog park, and I have two dogs with us, so I can take my dogs there.
