Hilltop at Blue River

My father is in Hilltop at Blue River. So far, everything is really nice. The staff has been incredible with working with, not just him, but me as well. They've been really good about answering all questions, and with tours and things like that. My dad says that the meals that they fix are really good. The nursing quality has been basically topnotch. I'm really pleased with it. As for the community itself, it's kind of off in a little woody area, so it gives you like a countryside feel, but on nice days, the staff allows residents to go outside to get fresh air. They have separate sections, one is long-term care and the other is rehabilitation, but you're not stuck in your room. They have common areas where my dad goes out and he watches TV. He goes into the dining area because he's in the rehabilitation area at the moment, but I've also seen the common and the dining areas for the long-term units. The building is under renovation at the moment, so there are some areas that may not look as nice as others. That's to be expected with construction, but so far we're already really, really happy with the choice that was made, so much so that his wife is getting ready to go and live there too. My dad is in a shared room at the moment. He was sharing a room with a roommate, but the gentleman that was sharing the room with him was moved over to a different unit. I saw a monthly calendar where they do things like movie night, coffee bars, ice cream socials, and arts and crafts, and most of that's done in the common area. I found it to be not just more affordable than others, but more towards what my dad would like.
