"I went to Living Waters Buell Lake. They were very cordial. They gave us a nice tour. It's a really nice place. Everything seemed new looking and open. They had good security. It's clean. The staff during the tour was very nice, pleasant, informative, and professional. They have a garden patio that was really nice. It's out in the country, so it's just nice. They had a beauty shop. It was homey. It had an open dining room, spacious, and well lit."

"We visited Courtyard Manor of Fenton. We were able to walk around the exterior. It looked like a lovely place. There are nice exterior areas that people can make use of. It was a very positive experience. We were able to be on the outside, but it looked well cared for. The staff seemed great, the one we met with anyway. We were able to see inside the window a little more and the room looked very spacious and comfortable."

"My dad was in Courtyard Manor before he passed away. It was great, and it was the best thing for him. I couldn’t ask for anything better with the lady that run the place, and the hospice nurse is just top-notch. They only have 20 rooms, it’s not a big place, but they have staff members to take care of him. The staff was all caring, they’re right there, and they took care of all our needs. It’s a little expensive, but that’s the way it is. They have two halls, and in the middle was the kitchen and dining area. There's an area in the back and an area in front with a TV and piano where the people can gather. It’s clean, well-kept, looks new, and his room was nice. The people in there were happy with the place. The room looked like a hotel room in a way. He had a handicapped bathroom, a closet, bed, and a chair, but you can also bring your furniture. The rooms were nice and looked pretty comfortable. They have a bus that takes them on excursions, they have games, they have church on Sundays, and a high school choir once came in and sang."

"I went toured here. That would have been ideal, but they didn't have any two-bedroom openings. They're excellent. I like the two bedrooms, two baths and it was just very nice. The staff during the tour was lovely. It was only one person, but we were exposed to others that worked there that were very nice. The common spaces were very nice and very relaxing. I didn't see any activities, but they were listed."

"I toured BeeHive Homes of Oxford. They accept non-memory care residents but everyone there is in memory care. They don't have it segregated or in different sections. That kind of turned me away because they're like, 'Look, everyone's here is memory care.' It's kind of depressing, so for someone who doesn't need that, one would be upset. However, I appreciate how nice and upfront they were about it. They're very transparent. It's not that they don't offer regular assisted living, it's just that they very much discourage it because it's not segregated. Everyone in there is a memory care resident. The staff were very nice and very transparent, so that part was good."

"I did a full tour at Symphony of Linden. I did talk to a lady and she gave me a pamphlet and everything. She showed me a couple of different rooms. That was in the main hall itself. The other ones outside were basically assisted living, and I told her we weren't really looking for that because she's been diagnosed with dementia, and I noticed it's getting worse. To me, it was kind of rushed. It was nice. The people were nice. I like how it's decorated. It's not just a plain Jane hallway or anything. I would recommend it. I know my landlord's been in there for rehab and he really liked it. It's clean and very friendly. We did pass by a dining area and it was very clean. We weren't there for a meal or anything like that."

"Vista Springs Trillium Village is the best place in the world. It's a five-star hotel for my mother. The staff couldn't be kinder, and they're wonderful to the 24-hour nursing care residents. She's cared for in every possible way. The meal services are perfect, I have no complaints with that, and neither does she. The place itself is beautiful. They're always working really hard to keep the residents busy. They have card games, puzzles, exercises, cooking, word searches, and they're growing flowers outside. They also have an enclosed community area outside and they are very well staffed. Somebody comes in every day to entertain them, they have movies, and a beauty shop. They have everything. It's a good value for the money."

"My wife has moved into Serene Gardens of Imlay City. They're very polite and very helpful. She has to have assistance with everything, going to the bathroom, and taking a shower. She can't walk. They're doing everything that I don't have time to get done. The staff is very respectful. My wife hasn't complained about the food, so that's good. They take care of her. The facility is excellent. She hasn't participated in any of the activities yet. She's only been there a few days and they've taken care of her transportation for radiation treatments and stuff like that. They have that all taken care of for me."

"We visited Vassar Fields, and it seemed very good. There were people my parents knew who were living there so they were considering it at that time. They had arts and crafts and bingo. They had a room where people could come in, have popcorn, and watch movies and shows. They also have entertainment coming in from the outside. We visited the assisted living part, and I noticed that the independent living places seemed to be larger compared to the assisted living ones. They also didn't have a full kitchen. It was more of a room with a bathroom like a hotel suite, which is nice, but it didn't have kitchen facilities. The facility is also older."
