"My brother lives here. They have pretty small rooms. They have two people in a room. It's kind of a residential setting. It is like a small apartment and it is fine. They take care of my brother. So, I'm happy with the work they do. The staff seems really nice and caring. I was a little concerned in the beginning, but now that he's been there a while, I think they try to take care and see to his needs. I saw the food and my brother seemed to like it all right. They have a little small room where they sometimes get together. They got puzzles and a small library."

"Oakmont of Pacific Beach was newer, and extremely active with activities, so there were a lot of things to do. However, the rooms that were available for the price, were shared and not private. They invited us one evening to enjoy the art instructor, which was very nice. They had very nice food. It had a theater, so you could watch movies on a big screen in comfortable seats. The staff couldn't be nicer and considerate. They know your name."

"I toured Ivy Park at La Jolla. It feels like a home when you walk in. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The community is small, so they give attention to everyone. The rooms were remodeled, so they were new with new appliances, fixtures, and bathrooms. Everything was perfect, pristine, beautiful, and clean. It's very nice."

"The employees at The Montera were very cheerful and seemed very professional. They had people who were outside under the umbrellas and on the patios, that were talking to each other. One apartment seemed nice. It was fairly large yet it was arranged well where they would be convenient for somebody who can't be mobilized real easily. They've got multiple dining areas. It goes from a full upscale restaurant service down to a snack bar thing and they were both nice. You can order what you want. We received a whole month's worth of activities, which includes going shopping and exercise classes. The staff was very, very good, too. The facilities were very nice. They continually upgrade and do all that."

"I visited Right Choice Senior Living, and then I also spoke to the owner on the phone. The owner, for some reason, didn't know that I was going to be there, so he wasn't there. One of the caregivers assisted me. The tour was good. I liked it. Edgar was the caregiver, and he seemed to be very attentive to each resident. Each resident wasn't tied to a strict schedule. The residents could go outdoors if they wanted, but no gym or library that I was shown."

"I toured AvantGarde Senior Living of La Jolla. The staff told me that my friend wouldn't be able to have a private room, but the papers that the social worker had sent me said that he could have a private room. The staff was awesome. It's very clean, but it is an older place. They've got it fixed up real cute, but I didn't like the shared rooms. It was a good atmosphere. It seemed like all the patients who were there were very happy. The shared room has a curtain in between down the middle, just like a hospital room. It's in a beautiful location. It's right in the middle of La Jolla. It's near the water. You can take the bus, and it drops you off right near there. It's a beautiful neighborhood that they're in."

"I've had a lot of experience here. My godmother was there. She was independent, but if you're medical status changed, you pay a little extra. She went from independent to assisted because she had to have help after her. She was a resident for about two years. When you drive through, there's not a lot of parking, but there's a lot of street parking. On weekends, you could park at the hospital across the street in their parking lot. It's a gated community. It has a grass area with a playground for the kids, a dog park, and an area where they celebrate, like Veteran's Day. They have barbecues out there and music. When you go inside, it has marble and nice rich wood. They have a formal dining room, so if the family wants to use it, they can have their food or have their food catered. There are elevators. You can either have a one-bedroom or a studio. The living area has a kitchen with a small top two-burner stove, lots of cabinets, and a large closet as you come into the door. The bathroom is large and is located in the bedroom if you have the one-bedroom and there are two closets in the bedroom, which was nice. The shower area is large, where you can roll a wheelchair and scoot over into your shower chair. You have to provide your own internet. There's a large park across the street if you want to take your parent or your loved one out and stroll through the park. Their dining room is nice. They also have a bar with TVs. It's like Buffalo Wild Wings where you have the TVs on the wall showing the different games, and they have a bar where the residents can have a wheelchair roll up to the bar or residents can sit in the bar stools and you can get beer and wine. They have a meal plan where you either have breakfast, lunch, and dinner or you can reduce your cost by just choosing one or two meals. They have a gym with a physical therapist onsite at all times. They have a swimming pool and a therapy pool. The staff is really nice. The doors close at 11:00, and you ring the doorbell. I believe there's staff there 24/7 or you have a scan, so you can get back in. It's easy to get around. It had very nice wide hallways. They have exercise every morning where you just come right out your door and everyone in that hallway who wants to participate just does hallway exercise. Each floor has a full-sized kitchen and a large area for families to have their own little cookouts and meals together."

"Westmont is newly constructed. The rooms are excellent and well-equipped. The common areas are inviting and friendly. The staff members are informative, cooperative and enthusiastic. It is located near a hospital and it overlooks the park. We ate there and the food was excellent. They have the usual menu supplemented by daily specials."

"We went to the Ivy Park at Otay Ranch. We were there just to eat and it was nice. It's like a hotel. So far, the people I met were all right. The food was alright, and you were served like, in a restaurant. They showed us places where they can exercise. The staff was very helpful. It was clean."

"I visited White Sands La Jolla. It is a newer building. It is on the beach. It is luxurious. The price is pretty luxurious too."

"We ended up putting mom in Westmont at San Miguel Ranch. It’s a very small community. It’s beautiful, quiet, and very clean. Everything is very good. We love it there. The staff is wonderful and very caring. They keep them busy. They have a lot of activities that they do. It’s a small group of people, so you get more individualized care. The food is excellent. The dining area is very cozy, nice, and clean. They have an actual chef that does the food, so the food is delicious. "

"I've had the pleasure of visiting Monarch Cottage on many occasions. I am always greeted in a warm, professional manner that sets the tone of the community. I come to visit an old friend and am always impressed with the compassion that I see in the interactions between the residents and staff. The community is beautiful, the location is great and the residents are happy. I look forward to my visits there. "

"Vi was excellent. I was in a private room there for almost 3 months. A lot of people were in double rooms. The staff was very good. I was cared for by nurses after surgery. I think one of the problems they have is that they are also a teaching hospital. They send a teacher and they work in the facility. That’s a turn off to me because they’re in training. I don’t want to be paying that kind of money to be treated by somebody who’s in school. The food and dining facilities were excellent. They have very good choices. They have a private dining room where you can sit and eat by yourself or eat with others or you can have guests. They also have an excellent therapist. I was happy to be there. "
