I live in an assisted living called Silver Birch of Terre Haute. The whole facility is mismanaged. Half of their employees quit in July, and that does not bode well for the company. Most of the staff members are fine. They're friendly and kind. The food is horrible. Half the time, it's overcooked and cold. Maintenance and upkeep is a joke. I have had lice in my apartment for two weeks, and they refuse to fix it.

We enjoyed talking to the lady at Silver Birch of Terre Haute. She was in charge of marketing, and she answered questions without us even asking. She was very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy her job. The community met the needs that we were looking for. My cousin isn't in there yet, and we are still going through the paperwork to get him in there. He would be a level three, and they could accommodate that. They have a kitchenette in the apartment. They have activities. They have eating facilities. It was a secure facility. It's gated all the way around so residents can go outside, but they can't get off the property. They have an outdoor patio area, they do laundry service, they have a barber shop on site, and they have a nurse practitioner who comes in two days a week. They would assist with bathing and dressing.

I toured Silver Birch of Terre Haute. I didn't care how the apartments were arranged and it looked more like a nursing home than assisted living. The residents were just sitting there, and the staff didn't care for them, either. They weren't too friendly. The bedroom had a little kitchenette, and you had to go through the kitchenette to get to the bathroom. I didn't care for that. They didn't have much activities. They might have an activity once a day or something, but nothing that appealed to me. They had a courtyard, but it just didn't look like something I'd want to live in. I didn't care for the layout of the facility. It was kind of in the middle of a college campus, and I didn't care for it.
