"My mom is in the Exceptional Living Center of Brazil for rehab. She broke her leg, and she received OT and PT out there. With COVID I really haven't been in it, I've been on the outside through a window, but as far as the care, they're working with me. As far as the financial part, getting mom accepted for Medicaid and so forth, I don't have any complaints. They call me every week on Friday morning, let me know whether or not there's a COVID person that has tested positive, or if they have an outbreak of COVID, and they have not had any COVID incidents. They're completely clear of that. Their office lady is in touch with me every day and when I've called her, she called me right back. I spoke to the director, and they've all been helpful. They do her medications, they do her meals, and they bathe her. She is not weight-bearing on her leg, so they're doing upper body strength with OT and PT, so that she can walk with a walker eventually. Right now she is in a wheelchair. It's really easy to get to, if they were allowed to go outside, let's say springtime or whatever, they have woods around, it's kind of secluded, but it's in the city."

"As far as outward physical appearance (landscaping, sidewalks, ramp, etc.) the hearth at Prestwick is beautiful and hopefully somewhat comforting to those who reside there. I used to go to the same nursing home when i was in grade school (kingsway christian school/church) on field trips. we would play music for the resident and visit with them for a day. The only reason i bring this up is that I have seen how the facilities used to be (about 14 years ago). Nursing home are generally considered a sterile and somewhat "scary" place for kids but I always felt at ease there (because I have always loved talking with people) again I am only bringing this up to allow for comparison with the passage of time. The facility now compared to then has improved. They have hired enough staff which always seemed to be an issue (my grandmother also stayed there while i was in college) and the rooms are now much cleaner and in better repair than they were at any point I had visited in the past. They have also started more activities for the residents which I can neither say is goo or bad as i have never been there for them. My friends father seemed very pleased two of the different staff members who throughout our day visit (about 3 hours) came to check on him at least 5 times just to to see if he needed anything. The food seemed like it could be better but was better than what I would consider "hospital" food. Overall I would say that this is a good clean and friendly facility. "

"My mom is in Owen Valley Health for only about two weeks now. They assist us by answering all our questions, introducing us to the establishment itself, and going over all their roles and how they will take care of her. We will financially pay for it and they assist us with the financial paperwork. They have activities like singing, and I like that is it small. "

"We went to this facility to visit my fianc̩s grandmother. She had been here for about six months. The facility did not smell very clean, and they did not seem to have a lot of staff. It looked like only one nurse was on duty and maybe the aides. In the hour that we were there neither the aides nor the nurse came to check on his grandmother or her roommate. We decided that to bring her home shortly after our visit. Upon getting her home we discovered her cancer wound had not been treated as ordered and it took three weeks to get all of the scabbing off from around the wound. Then they kept her last two social security payments, and have yet to return them. When we call them they are not very professional, and seem to think that they sent the money back and yet social security has not received either payment as of yet. "

"My mother is in Avon Health and Rehabilitation Center for rehab. They looked like professionals. She has her own room, and her doctor recommended it. It's modern, and it looks nice, but I can't go inside. Her room is large, it has two beds, but she's there by herself. It's both assisted living and rehab. The overall atmosphere is nice, professional, and clean. We chose them because they took my mom's insurance."

"Nice upscale facility. Excellent staff. Good food. Occasional billing issues but quickly cleared up. Highly recommend. "

"My mother is still in Plainfield Healthcare Center. They're helping her with mobility and hygiene. The staff is great. She's got young women who consider her like their mother and they call her mom. They're nice to her. They listen to her. I've never seen the facility dirty, her bed or her linen. Her room is a nice sized. It's a single room. She's got a TV and a little refrigerator in it, and it's probably the size of an average bedroom. The food is the biggest complaint with her. She doesn't like the food as much. I'm not letting that deter us from getting her care. We got people that can bring her food if that's a big problem. I'm not worried about that. Some of it she'll eat, some of it she won't. We were told last week she started doing activities, so that's a big improvement, better than her last place. She's been more active and doing things that they suggest. She's got out of her room and joined other clients in bingo or something else. Their value is within the State limits and without the Medicaid, we couldn't afford her to be there."

"We ended up going to The Springs of Mooresville. They are wonderful. It's still pretty new. My mom was there for three weeks for rehab. The facilities are super and the people are wonderful. Mom thought the food was quite good. The dining room is very open, and there are quite a few individual tables and some were pushed together to make seating for 12 or 15 people. They had two private banquet rooms. It's kind of restaurant-style, so there are quite a few options and Mom said that if you order something special, they will try to accommodate you. If they don't have it on the menu, they go out of their way to make it for you. They have a pub area where they have Happy Hour once a week and all kinds of activities, like they went to movies a couple times or to a park, and they have a complete physical therapy area and hair salon on the premises. The caretakers, nurses and the staff are wonderful and interacted with her quite a bit. Several times somebody would come in and check on her. Everybody was so friendly and helpful and offering to do anything and everything. The facilities were in really good shape. The staff is just phenomenal. "

"Friends who had family members at The Waters of Martinsville recommended the place to me. It was clean, smelled good, and was well lit. They allowed the residents to smoke outside, if they are smokers. It was cheaper than some of the other places, which played a part in my decision. All in all, it just looked like something that my mom will be comfortable with. They had a place for rehabilitation, a room for smoking, a place for birthday celebrations, and a bus that will take them out to different restaurants or shopping. There were doctors and nurses in the facility, and TV and Wi-Fi. They serve three meals a day. "

"Sadly, my wife acquired early age Alzheimer's Disease. After five years of caring at home, It was time to move into a facility with 24/7 memory care. I needed a place for her safety, personal care and honestly, to give me a break. I had reached my limit, lovingly, while she was at home. After visiting a few facilities, we chose the BBHC, the same place her dad lived with Alzheimer's in the 1990's. A few senior members of the staff remember her dad. The fact that they continue their employment and care for all of these years says a lot to me as a good place to work and serve. The building isn't flashy and modern, but very comfortable. The staff are wonderful. I really appreciate that friends and family can come anytime. We were allowed to personalize her room with things from home. We're allowed to bring in her favorite meals from home. "

"Wife spent two months here. Newer facility. Like most, I always say nice place to visit but not to live. No place like home. Some staff went above and beyond, some just do their jobs."

"My husband's aunt is in Lane House. It's a nursing home, and there are no private rooms. It's also used for rehab for people coming out of the hospital. The environment is very nice, and it doesn't stink like urine. The people are real friendly and helpful, and they know the residents by name. There's a lot of interaction among the staff and the people. It's probably the best in Crawfordsville. "

"My mom is at Wellbrooke of Avon in the nursing section. It's clean and nice. The people here are great and they seem to provide a lot. She can't do much right now, but they came around saying that they're going to have like this one night or something like that. She can't do anything, or she can't eat anything. She's just on a feeding tube. She can't be in the meals together or anything like that yet. The menu looks good but she's just on a clear liquid diet period right now/on a feeding tube. I just know they had set up to have some kind of night, like Mardi Gras or something."
