"I toured Serenity at Briarcrest. What I like about it is the security of the mailboxes inside. The model that I saw was very clean. The people were nice. It's a talkative community. Everybody's a community there. It's a great place. They look out for each other there. The staff was very nice, and they were just over the top. The rooms they showed me were nice."

"I like Carriage Inn - Bryan a lot. We looked at them for assisted living and independent living. They're a little more limited on their assisted living in that they do not really do people who are end-of-life, where they're bedridden and that sort of thing. At that point they're like, "You would have to take them to someplace else. We don't really have the facilities for people who are bedridden and stuff like that." Overall, I loved it. It was great. They had wonderful facilities. It's quite large too. They have a couple of different dining rooms, and they have nice courtyards. We will definitely take Mom and Dad on a tour of that one when they come out to visit, and I think they'll like it. We really like them a lot. The people were super nice and super helpful. The facilities were really nice. It's probably the top of my list, and their prices are way more reasonable."

"Parc at Traditions is very, very nice. The lady that helped us did everything. She took us everywhere. We were there longer than we expected. It had a very good feeling. However, the price is just out of our range. The facilities are great. They have assisted living rooms, and they have memory care rooms. Basically, you can do just about everything there. We didn't eat lunch or anything, but they gave us menus of what they do and how they do it."

"Arbor Oaks At Crestview was the one that's closest to our home and that was kind of the one that I anticipated, perhaps, moving into but there were a couple of things that stood in. The buy-in there was quite large. It was close to $420,000. I have had other friends and family say they paid like $90,000 or somewhere in that neighborhood, and $420,000 can cut quite a swath into your investments. The other thing was they had a two bedroom, two bath, but they were still quite small in square footage. I have friends that live there and they have always said the staff is extremely nice and takes very good care of them. When I toured, they were also very nice and were very open about all the facilities. We toured a couple of different apartments and things like that and they were very clear about the things that they have available to their residents. I have played Bridge there with some of my friends and I have tried their food. It was not a complete meal. It was just sandwiches, but it was very good. The facility was all very clean and very nicely kept up. I also got that same feedback from my friends who live there, that they have a very nice facility and that they do a good job keeping it up."

"I toured Crestview Methodist Retirement Community. I talked to the lady who did the admitting, she was lovely, and very detailed in her talk, she took all of my information, and said she would get back to me. I went on a Friday and it was Monday when I got a call from a different lady that said she was sorry they were not in the skilled nursing area. They did not have a bed for him. That was a blessing because it was a lot further for me to drive. They had a semi-private room and a private room. The facility was beautiful."

"I'm in Watercrest at Bryan and I'm very happy here. The facility itself is safe. There's protection for seniors or single people who live here. The facilities themselves are comfortable, easy to maintain, and easy to navigate. Our location is close to other services, like St. Joseph's Hospital or the clinics and doctors. Kroger is about a mile from here. We're far enough from the town area, so there isn't a lot of traffic. It's a lovely place. The staff operates in the background, so you're not aware. I can accept the provided hours of cleaning, or I can add to that myself, so there's flexibility. You can go to the dining room and eat, or you can order the meal by 10:00 and then have it delivered to your door, or go pick it up. You can also choose to prepare your own meals. The staff is wonderful. They're here to serve. They have little nooks and crannies for people to do puzzles together that are off of the hallways. They have a large, lovely dining room. The facilities are such that individuals can make choices that might be different from everyone. They actually have an activity director, and she provides a menu of choices. I choose to create my own, and that's easy to do, like a group of us wanted to watch some special videos that I had found of ancient civilization, so I called the activity director. She set up the videos, and she helped me advertise, and a group of us got together. There's a lot of flexibility. It's worth it, but that depends on each person's level of income. I'm very happy with what I have, and I think I'm getting the value for my money. It's a five, or I wouldn't be here."
