"It was very charming. The row of apartments faced a lawn area in between another row of apartments that faced the first row of apartments. The grassy area had walkways, trees, and gardens. They had a patio where you can put a chair and sit outside. They had an activity board with a list on it, so it's quite an active place. It was not too sophisticated, but it was comparable to others in terms of care. "

"I toured the Parc at Traditions last March. I was super impressed with it. The staff was great. The facility was very nice and very clean. I can't say enough good things about it, but my mother decided she didn't want to do that. Obviously a lot of thought was put into it. The units themselves were excellent just the way they were designed. They had washers and dryers, but they were adjacent to the closets which was smart. It was definitely designed with seniors in mind. The dining area was great. The variety of activities were impressive. They would learn flower arrangements and do flower arranging around the place, where you see flowers in the dining room. They had tons of activities whether it was bridge, bingo, or bible study. I was impressed with the variety. The grounds were beautiful as well, you look out the window and you see a wooded area, they weren't crammed in. They had bird feeders out. It was homey. It didn't feel like a stuffy facility."

"We picked Arbor Oaks At Crestview. It was great. It was only 2 years old. Everything was new. It was very well designed. The apartments were laid out with no waste of space. It was really nice. They had good number of staff. They seemed well fit for the job. "

"I visited a friend at Isle At Watercrest Bryan, to me the place was very confusing. I didn’t like the fact that when I went inside I had to find the elevators, then when I got off the floor I’d have to find my way around the rooms. If I had dementia, I wouldn't be able to find my room because there weren’t any markings. They provide wonderful care for my friend, but it’s not somewhere I would want to be placed. My friend is in full care, and she’s got Alzheimer’s, so they dress her up, give her medication, and help her with everything."

"I like The Huntington at College Station. I lived there, and I'd like to live there again. It's very nice, clean and friendly. If you need medical assistance or if you need some kind of care, that's between you and them. The apartments don't have anything to do with it. It's independent living. It's newer, and it's clean. The staff was great. People leave you alone, to yourself. It's private, but you can mingle if you want to. There were things to do. They have a workout room. The staff is a 10. I cook my own food. They have chess, checkers, shuffleboard, movies in a big area with nice seats and acoustic sound and all that. The chess is about as high as your waist that you play outside, and you could play some other things outside. There's like a small tennis court, a weight room, and a library. It has a friendly, polite, and considerate atmosphere."

"I have been at The Langford at College Station, and it's been really good. I'm settled in and it feels like home now. The staff has been very helpful and everybody here is in good humor and getting along well. They immediately know your name. When you walk into the room, they call you by name. The bedrooms here are superior because it's luxury retirement living. The dining area is spacious, and the food is pretty good. They serve three meals a day. Every Sunday we have a big buffet from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and it's always really good. There's always something going on here from 8:00 in the morning till 8:00 or 9:00 at night, anything and everything from exercising to stretching to various speakers coming in and giving talks and lectures about their specialty. We also have church services on Sunday. We have poker nights, bingo nights, lady poker nights, puzzles, and all kinds of games. We have entertainment every Friday afternoon. They provide almost everything I can think of."
