I visited Villas of Rock Prairie. They are for those 55 and up. They have a wider variety of one-bedroom versus two-bedroom configurations. They have a lot of parking available. They have a swimming pool and a recreation room. It was very nice. I liked it. Lezlie was very patient and attentive. The phone rang, but when she was with me, she was with me. She was the only one in the office, so instead of getting up and running back and forth to the phone and interrupting our conversation, she was just right there, giving undivided attention. I said that my friends needed a two-bedroom and they have a two-bedroom, one-bathroom. They don't have two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit. For people who have lived there a long time, if they wanted to make any updates or improvements out of their own pocket, they definitely could. For example, they don't have overhead light fixtures except in the kitchen. In the living room, if you wanted to install a light fixture with a ceiling fan, they would let you do that, but that would just be a part that would stay with the apartment once you left. Some units have previous things that previous tenants did for their own convenience or comfort, so you might be able to get one of those, depending on what you feel like your needs are. The grounds were well kept. The apartment that I saw was a show apartment, but the size of the rooms was really good. The closet space was above and beyond, not just for clothes, but for linens. They didn't have a pantry in the kitchen, but the laundry unit space that was in the kitchen was basically a big closet. If you got one of those stackable units for a washer and dryer, then you had enough space that you could put food storage cupboards inside of there and have it as a dual function. They had really, really good cupboard space for dishes and pots and pans, a dishwasher, an electric stove, and an ice-free refrigerator and freezer. The only drawback is that they have a long waiting list. They have different pricing tiers because they work with government subsidies. If you decide that you want to go with the tax-adjusted price abatement, that's a lot of paperwork to fill out and proof of income. Every penny basically has to be accounted for. I thought it was crazy because the reduction was only like a hundred dollars off your rent, but the units were reasonably priced. The staff said they have six different waiting lists, and you can sign up for like two or three of them if you want, but the wait can be up to a year.
