Independent Living Communities in Petoskey, MI

"My mother has been living at Independence Village for over two years. We are both over the moon happy with the entire staff and all that the Village has to offer. The rooms are clean, the grounds are gorgeous and the food is good. Can't say enough about the wellness staff and the phenomenal care they give mom. They create individual wellness plans based on her needs and we can add to or subtract from the plan as her needs change. There are fun activities for everyone and the special events are so well planned and carried out. Mom has taken advantage of Bible Study, Sunday church service, exercise group, weekly concerts, movies, the hair salon, toe nail clipping and she also has a Rummicube group that meets twice a week. This is her routine but there are so many more activities available. To many to mention here. Our entire experience at the Village, starting with the initial contact and tour, through the move in process, adjustment periods, and everything else along the way has been exceptional. The entire staff goes out of their way to assist the residents and they always do so with a SMILE. We are both so grateful for Independence Village. Than you one and al!! "

"My father is in American House Petoskey. I like that their service is efficient and that their demeanor is attractive and peaceful. Their evening meal is small and their lunch has plenty of vegetables and fruits. I've only visited there once, but I was pleased with the service that I saw. They serve three meals a day. My mom was upset because the dinner was small, but I think that serves the purpose better. The staff tells me my dad is pleasant, and they're always on task. They are very pleasant and caring. "

"We toured the independent living at American House Charlevoix. The manager was very nice. She showed us around, and they had a lot of nice amenities. It's a little bit smaller than what we wanted. We also like a place with lots of people and activities, and I think they provided some, but I'm not sure that they could provide all that we wanted. I believe that they have a washer and dryer at the end of the hall. We didn't get the chance to check the food out, but they have a dining area, and they have meals provided. The staff members were very polite, very pleasant, and very helpful. The facility was clean, and the outside decor was attractive. The best thing about this place, for me, is the location because it's close to my son."

"I wanted to take a minute to give my impressions of The Village of Hillside which is located in Harbor Springs, Michigan. First of all, I would like to say that this retirement community is located near beautiful Lake Michigan which is nice for the residents to be so close to nature. I also think that the facility is clean, organized and also very well maintained.I was able to spend about three hours here one day with my family while we were looking at all of our options for care for my mother who has been recently unable to care for herself. I was able to talk to most of the staff that works there regularly and I was impressed with their attitudes. They took the time to sit and talk with the patients/residents instead of just doing their jobs and moving onto the next person. I found them to be friendly and genuinely caring about how the residents are doing.I also enjoyed the layout of the facility. My mother has a pet and this place allows pets to live there with the residents, which was a big positive for us and our situation. Also, there are laundry facilities, cable television, beauty shops, exercise and fitness rooms and also a meeting place for all of the residents to meet up and play games, etc.Lastly, I would like to talk about all of the fun things that are in place for the residents to do. They are able to meet and play bingo and do other things such as play the Wii and have competitions. There are also karaoke and card nights, which helps the residents with making a lot of new friends and feeling like they are part of this retirement community.Make sure to take a look at this place if you are looking to get the best care for your loved one. "My father lived in a place called Brook of Cheboygan. I liked that place because it was smaller. They only have like 40 or 50 residents. The staff was very good. Everybody knew everybody. They had bingo, cards, and a movie theater. They had a very nice dining room. The facility was very nice. They had nice furniture. It would remind you of a fancy hotel, and they had a beauty salon. "
