Nursing Home Communities in Gaylord, MI

"I visited Tendercare Gaylord for four days. I feel very assured my father is getting proper care for his stroke. The staff cares about the patients and want to do the very best for them. They feed the patients too much and too good. My dad's roommate has been there for a month and agrees the food is good and overall he is satisifed with his care too. HIs roommate is there for hip rehab. "

"My mother-in-law lived in Grandvue Medical Care Facility. She began in assisted living and then she moved to memory care. Her care was fabulous and the room was adequate. Their staff was very caring and experienced. I was there when my mother-in-law was eating and the food looked fine. It's an older facility, so I think sometimes with the facilities that are aging, it's showing a little bit of wear. They do a really good job for an older facility. There are not many activities in memory care, but before that, they tried. They have the activities available even though she didn't participate. I saw other people doing things like crafts and they tried to make sure that they moved around. The value for the money is average. They pretty much had everything, a theater, and a salon. There's a kitchen area where you could go and make your own food and stuff, and they had an exercise room. They had the basic facilities."

"My wife was at Crawford Continuing Care Center for a couple of months. They did a pretty good job of taking care of her. The only problem I had was that they decided that she was not getting any better. Their care plan was to make her comfortable and that seemed like that's all they were doing for a while. The staff, 95% were caring individuals and did a fine job. The food was OK. Some of what she wouldn't eat, I tried, and it was OK. They assigned her to long-term care. There were two people in a room. They did their best to keep it clean. It was kind of cramped, but it was better than the one I got her out of in Alabama. They had a variety of activities. They had some things that they would do to get people together. They had bingo a couple of days a week."

"I will be putting my brother in a nursing home called Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. It was nice and clean. They have private rooms because I can't see my brother sharing a room with somebody. The staff was very friendly. The girl took me back after we did the tour and went over all the paperwork that I would need for him. They told me to turn the paperwork in and they would try to get him on Medicaid to help pay for this. Their facility had 20 beds in each unit, and they each had their own kitchen. They have doctors that come in. When my brother has an appointment outside of the facility, they have a bus that comes and picks him up. They like to have someone go with him to the appointment and then they bring you right back to the facility. I don't have to travel to a doctor's office. They take us right there. They had a beauty shop available, so he could get his hair cut. They have a person who comes in to cut their toenails, so I wouldn't have to take him out to the podiatrist anymore."

"My mother-in-law was in Villa at the Bay initially for physical therapy. We couldn't find a place for her to live, so she stayed a little longer than necessary. The staff was very kind and nice. They were good to my mother-in-law. It's just the place was tired. Sometimes, it was clean. It's a nursing home, so it's very expensive. She was on Medicaid, so it was paid for by the State. If I were rating it off on what they charge by the day, I would say that the value is a zero. The rooms were small and not nice. The people were kind and pleasant."

"My mother is now at Bortz Health Care. I like that I can come and go anytime I want and that the staff is very attentive to the patients' needs and never in too big of a hurry to stop and see what somebody wants even if they are on their way to do something; and a lot of places just don't do that. My mom seems to be very happy with the food. It seems very clean. "
