My mom moved to Meadow Brook about two and a half weeks ago. It's good. We have other family members there and it's always been a very good experience. My mom plays Bingo. They get three meals and endless snacks. The food is good, plentiful, and you get to pick what you want. They provide bathing, toileting, dressing, and med distribution for her. They have a doctor there who works with the patients so they don't have to leave. The facility itself is very nice and clean.

I will be putting my brother in a nursing home called Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. It was nice and clean. They have private rooms because I can't see my brother sharing a room with somebody. The staff was very friendly. The girl took me back after we did the tour and went over all the paperwork that I would need for him. They told me to turn the paperwork in and they would try to get him on Medicaid to help pay for this. Their facility had 20 beds in each unit, and they each had their own kitchen. They have doctors that come in. When my brother has an appointment outside of the facility, they have a bus that comes and picks him up. They like to have someone go with him to the appointment and then they bring you right back to the facility. I don't have to travel to a doctor's office. They take us right there. They had a beauty shop available, so he could get his hair cut. They have a person who comes in to cut their toenails, so I wouldn't have to take him out to the podiatrist anymore.

We're moving Dad into Meadowbrook Medical Care on Monday. It has two or three stories, and each floor is considered a house. There are 20 units in each house with only two dementia patients on each floor who require the extended care that my father needs. The place is totally amazing, and their facility is quite similar to our situation at home for him; that's why I chose this place for him. Cris, the admissions coordinator, was very professional and helpful even before I chose them. Dad has a single private room for himself that has 24-hour observation. In the dining room, they have an ice cream sundae bar, and the residents can get whenever they want. They were doing some arts and crafts, and some staff members were helping the residents. My dad's room is available for me to visit 24/7, and if Dad has a hard time moving in, I'm allowed to stay there for a night or two while he adjusts to things.

My aunt has stayed at Meadow Brook for nearly 8 years. She suffers from dementia and Parkinson's Disease and is unable to take care of herself. The staff at Meadow Brook has been wonderful. You can tell they really care about the residents. They asked us to bring in some old photographs of my aunt so that they could talk to her about them and keep her mind engaged. They are very patient with her during meal time and treat her as I would hope to be treated if I were in the same situation. The facilities are very nice. They keep the landscaping well maintained and the gardens are beautiful. Wildlife such as squirrels, turkeys and even the occasional deer can be seen through the residents' windows on occasion. The rooms are blandly decorated, but that's to be expected. They are very accommodating by allowing us to bring personal affects of my aunt's, such as plants, pictures, stuffed animals and seasonal decorations we use to make it seem like home.Meadow Brook has been an excellent facility both for my aunt and for the family who often visit her.

I was not impressed with the facility for the purposes of dementia patients. I had volunteered there many years and thought I liked it. But when I was considering placment for my spouse, I was not impressed. It seemed depressing to me. Too many people sitting around in wheelchairs sleeping. I don't think that is good for the other patients to have to view endlessly.
