Nursing Home Communities in Tawas City, MI

"Hi,I want to give a review about a great nursing home called Lakeview Manor in Tawas City, Michigan. I visited this facility as part of a volunteering session that we had with my church's youth group. We had gone around to a few in our community and this was one of our last stops, and I found this facility to be the best overall. I was able to interact with the residents and get to know their normal daily routines as well as their feelings about living at Lakeview Manor. Of all the people that I talked to, no one had anything negative to say except they wished that they still had their freedom to live at home. A few of the patients had family members visiting and I was able to ask the families why they chose to house their family members here. I found out that they are very affordable and offer great options for the residents such as: bringing items from home to put in their private rooms, bingo and other daily activities to keep them entertained, personal chefs that cook food to their liking and visiting pets that they can interact with. I found the staff to be extremely gentle and attentive to the residents. They actually took the time to interact with them and wanted to know mire about them instead of just giving them their medicine and moving on to the next patient. The facility was immaculate and smelled very good. Overall, I would say that this would be a great place for your friend or relative to live when they are no longer able to properly care for themselves. Thank you for letting me share. "

"My father was admitted to Tendercare, and the were so helpful and caring both for the patient and the family. He was admitted December27, 2011 and passed February 4, 2012, and the staff cried with the family. I could not have asked for a better facility for him "

"The facility was clean and the nurses and other caregivers seem to care about the patients. The patients themselves seemed happy. When I was there they provided activities for their patients. The food seemed interesting and nutritional. As is the case with most nursing homes, there was that smell that seems to be present when there are a lot of medically fragile seniors. They had a nice outdoor space for those patients who were capable of going outside and for those who were not, there was a sitting area with bird feeders and many types of flowers. It was very soothing. There were vending machines with nutritional snacks available. There were a lot of Alzheimer patients at this facility. The doors were secure and safe for those patients which tended to wander. There were many family members there visiting with their elderly relatives. All in all I felt that this was one of the better nursing homes that I have been to. "

"I have been to this facility many times, as my grandmother has lived her for just about a year now. The first time that I had visited this facility was because my parents and I were looking around at different places in order to find the one that was best suited for my grandmother to live at. The reason that we chose Jamieson Nursing Home was first and foremost because of the staff that worked there. They helped us to feel very comfortable and they were actually sincere about their loving to take care of people who are in need of them. The staff members wanted us to stay as long as we could in order to get the idea of what exactly goes on there and about all of their amenities that they offered. Although this facility is a nursing home, we soon came to realize that they had much more to offer than the majority of nursing homes that we had seen that day. The facility offers an extensive amount of choices for meals for the patients and allows the families/friends to bring in food for the patient or allows them to be able to cook a meal there too, if they would like to. This, they said, was to make them feel more independent and like they were at home. Also, all of the rooms are single occupancy and the residents are allowed to make their rooms to their liking. They are allowed to bring furniture, pictures and anything else that they would like to in order to feel comfortable. This was much different from every other home we had looked at because all of the others you had to just accept what the room looked like and they were very sterile and cold feeling. The other amenities offered include: game night (bingo, boardgames, etc.), televisions in every room, stereos, workout equipment (along with aerobics classes offered on most days), pool, day room with plants, fish tank and many other great options . Even on some days, the facility brings in beauticians in order for the residents to get their hair done if they would like to. The residents that I talked to seemed to be honest about their really liking to live there and feeling like they are still somewhat independent in their day to day activities. Although the residents are allowed to take care of themselves, the staff is still capable of taking care of patients who are not able to care for themselves. After my grandmother had moved in and stayed for a while, I decided to go and visit her to make sure that everything was okay and that the staff was treating her well. When I talked to her, she said that she absolutely loved it there and that everyone was so kind. She had made many great friends who allowed her to stay busy during the day.I would highly recommend anyone who is looking to place a relative or friend in a nursing home to visit Jamieson Nursing Home because they offer many great amenities and great staff!
