"Altercare is not a 5 star hotel ! It is a very busy care center with a lot of demands placed on a very pleasant and no doubt overworked staff. The nurses aides, nursing staff, etc. are kind and caring to the residents, I have never seen even a hint of abuse. Are they always quick to respond ? How can they when the needs are greater than the hands? They do well, and I have seen staff take an interest in my client, beyond their duty. Ex: there was about a week that went by when the cable tv service was down...(that's a huge deal for my Chuck, the tv is on from am to pm) but there was an aid who actually hooked up his own cell phone to the tv so that Chuck could watch the ball games. Those little kindnesses are not in the job descriptions, but they mean a lot ! Could things be better? of course, but frankly I don't know how they care for so many so well, and I'm grateful."

"Our experience with Grand Oaks Nursing Center is very good. My mother and my aunt are both up there now, and I think it's a phenomenal place. It's a nursing home, there's not a whole lot of amenities. There are two to a room, they have arts and crafts. If it's not during COVID, they are allowed to go out and go outside and do things as they go on trips, but with COVID, they've eliminated some of that. You can walk all through this facility and not smell any unpleasant smells, it's very clean. Their food is not bad. They have to be careful with seasoning, so it's a little bland. They've got variety, if they don't want what's the meal, they can have a salad. It's ordered through Sysco, if they don't want a cooked breakfast, they can have cereal, so they're pretty lenient on their food. I can't say enough good things about them. I really can't. We do a care conference every three months, and if there's something that comes up within that three months, they're quick to call me and let me know what's going on. They're usually very community-minded and bring the people out into the community, like to the parades, but they couldn't this year because of COVID."
