"We have chosen The Brook of Houghton Lake for my mom. So far, we're very happy with it. They have church on Sundays, bingo on Mondays and Wednesdays, crafts, exercise, music, games, and outside walks. The staff members are very attentive. They are coming to get her for meals so that she won't miss them. We have an occupational therapist come in and give her her bath because she was receiving those services at home. I have a brother and sister who live in the same town as she does, so they can visit more often. The facility is beautiful, and it's like a fancy motel."

"The Brook has independent living also, so it serves both avenues. He is in the assisted part, so he has people who are visiting him quite often. They help with his meds and everything, too. Everything is very clean. The people are very pleasant. It's a very nice facility. I found it to be above board of what most people would probably be looking for, something that is well maintained, well looked after, and they're fed great. For the money that he is able to spend for this, it's very good. What I like best is how they maintain his food for him. He's not very good at watching what he eats, which also tends to lead to other health issues, so they've been really great to help with that regard. He does not participate in the activities, but that's just because of who he is. The activities they provide are wonderful. "

"I visited a friend at The Brook of West Branch close to three years ago. Her room was very nice, and they took very good care of her. Everything about the home was just grand and glorious. The help was very nice. The facade seemed very nice. It had a plain open field and a nice sliding door that went outside. It was not in a residential area at all, but it was close to medical facilities. It was a super place. They were very satisfied with the price and everything. The only thing I would ask would be a few trees outside my window."

"My mother is at The Brook of Gladwin. It's a community housing with the standard amenities. They get meals in the dining rooms, and they have elective activities for them. The staff provides assistance with bathing and getting her out of bed. I talked extensively with the administrator, and I have a really comfortable feeling that she manages things well. The staff morale is good, and they're patient. They take care of the patients, they understand what their duties are, and they're professional. They do what needs to be done, but they're truly kind. They treat patients with respect and not all of those kinds of organizations perform that well. I'm very comfortable with how The Brook is doing. Her room is kind of a suite. They have meetings where they sing songs together and have stretching exercises for everybody. They have bingo and card playing. They have a beauty salon."
