"The only reason we didn't pick The Current South Shore is that the apartment was on the fifth floor, and the porch was way bigger. It didn't have a cover, so we were wondering how we were going to shovel it and where do you put the snow when you're five stories up. The Current South Shore was actually really nice. It was brand new. It was six months old. The apartment that they showed us was a studio with a huge porch, and that was for independent living. I would give it a 3 only because right beside it was an automotive shop, and you could smell the oil if you went outside. Also, if my dad needed more help, he would lose his apartment, and he would get a smaller place. The staff member who gave the tour was wonderful, but the other person was awful. We gave them money first and then changed our mind because the other person was so bad. The place is beautiful, but one of their problems is the way the driveway is. When you come in, there's not much room. It's the way it's designed."

"My friend is at Orchard Cove. It is great. The rooms are elegant. They're suites actually. My friend lives alone. She has a large living/dining room, a nice size bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. I had lunch with her, and the people working in the dining room were extremely pleasant. They like her, and she likes them. They're very gracious and polite. This is a high-end upscale place, and the food is exceptional too. I don't know their activities, but I do know that they keep them very busy. They have a gorgeous library, too."

"We went to Traditions of Dedham. The facility was very nice. We met some of the people there, and everything was nice. They have some good sized apartments. However, they could use an auditorium of some sort because everything they do is in the front lobby. They have the regular activities. They have people come in, and they have classes of some sort. Plus they have an assisted living as well. The staff was very accommodating. We had lunch there, and the food was alright. "

"Boylston Place was a wonderful place. The people were great. That's not in our top three because it doesn't offer some of the things that we're looking for, but it is a wonderful place, and we liked it. The staff that assisted us were great. They were very welcoming, very knowledgeable, and very professional. It was great. The facility is beautiful. They pretty much are an independent living only place, and we're looking for a place that has independent living, assisted living and, if needed, memory care. The facility is really good."

"The Residences at Wingate is brand new. The common areas are quite elaborate and very luxurious. There's a pool, two movie theaters, a beautiful dining area, and the grounds are quite nice. The individual rooms are nice but not particularly big nor fancy. The staff is excellent. They have a lot of good activities, like karaoke and accordion playing. They have just recently opened an are trying to tailor the activities according to the likes of their residents."

"I had an excellent impression of Cabot Park Village. I was accommodated very well during the visit. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. They tried to be very nice to me, but I didn't think it was as new and charming as the one I chose. The food was very good, and they were very accommodating to me when they served me the meals. It felt homey."

"Maplewood Place was fully renovated about 2 years ago. The apartments, common areas and dining room are beautiful and very inviting. My 87-year-old mother was very apprehensive about assisted living but no longer had the ability to live independently. Maplewood Place became “home” in about a week thanks to the staff and residents. The “community” (both the people and infrastructure) made the transition here easy and her transformation with joy, peace and happiness nearly seamless. From the aides to housekeeping to the dining room staff, activities director, front desk, wellness care to management - ALL have been professional, kind, caring and welcoming every hour of every day. The TEAM is focused on making every resident feel at home with happiness and joy. Every aspect of this community is covered to the smallest detail - cleanliness, food, activities, apartments and level of assistance required. The infrastructure is beautiful and inviting from the lobby to dining room to common areas."

"What my mother was looking for was independent living with one meal a day, and apartments that had a kitchen with an actual stove. The other thing that she wanted was a balcony or an outdoor space, and New Pond Village had all of those things. It was a combination of the main things, the location, and the one-meal-a-day plan. They do have step-up care available. You can move to assisted or memory care from there. They've done a lot of recent renovations. The apartment that my mother got is gorgeous. It has a high ceiling and lots of light and windows. The common spaces are very nice. They're attractively laid out. The library is beautiful. The dining room is on the lower floor. It's like a walkout from the lower level basement and that's very pretty. The food was pretty good, there are multiple options, and it's served sit-down style for dinner like you're seated at a table and a staff member comes and takes your order. There's a bunch of things that they always offer at every meal and lots of fresh fruit and fresh vegetables. There's nothing wrong with the place. It's nice, it's just a lot of money. The staff is great."

"My parents have been living at Maplewood at Weston for a few months now. We toured a few other facilities and found that Maplewood at Weston was the best fit for my parents. The Community Relations Directors was very resourceful and helped us make this very tough decision. The rooms were spacious and all their furniture fit into the room very nicely. Due to Covid-19 they weren't able to join too many activities - but thing are now improving. The staff has been very supportive to their needs and respond very quickly when needed. The Director of the facility is very welcoming and is always there to answer any question I might have or that of my parents. My dad enjoys walking around the facility and talking with anyone who is willing to have a conversation. "

"I toured The Residence at Five Corners. It was very comparable to the other place. Everybody was pleasant. It was very clean. I really like the fact that the outdoor areas were very nicely kept. It would be a pleasure to sit in and see whatever functions take place out there. So, that was a real plus for that particular place. They had different places where you could eat if you wanted to. One of them might be a pub, and the other one was the main dining room. It was very good."
