There was a dining room for meals. I had a little apartment with a fairly good sized living room, at one end a little kitchenette, and it had a separate bedroom and bath. They had the usual activities like bingo and crafts. "

"My grandfather was in the Belmont assisted-living home in Hollywood, California. He really liked it here. I liked it too but was very concerned about what kind of care he might be receiving (or not receiving) when we were not present. We received multiple calls informing us he had fallen from standing or fallen out of his wheel chair and gotten hurt. In my experience, all the staff was very friendly. The facility was very clean and my grandfather had a nice room. My grandmother did not like the Belmont assisted living home. I never understood why. She may have just been more concerned with keeping herself out of it versus anything to actually do with my grandfather or the assisted living home. I do not like the location of the assisted living home. Hollywood is no place for the elderly to live. It is way too noisy and bustling. "

"So far, my stay here at Scholl Canyon Estates Gracious Retirement Living has been good. It's a very nice community with very nice administration. They are very accommodating. The people are great, and I've made several friends since I've been here. They might need a little improvement in their food, but they had good choices. Everything is nice and very well kept up. The staff is the one that's a plus to me, in how gracious they are for whatever it is that you need. They have a few staff that need some training, but overall, they're very good. The building is very clean and very presentable, with pictures on the wall. Everywhere you walk, it's just beautiful. They have activities and things, and they're going to have a line dance pretty soon. They take you on trips and shopping, too. They have games here and movies. I haven't attended any of those activities yet because I have things outside of this already that I have to get together before I can settle in. It's a bit pricey when I compare it to others, but they are kind of neck and neck with a majority of these facilities. When I talked to the head, Eileen, she was just kind of impressive to me because she was very down-to-earth. That was the first time I've dealt with any type of retirement living place, and they are the first ones that I called, and Eileen just made me feel so comfortable. She helped me get past my fears and encouraged me to come over and see her, talk with her, and see the place. Even though I couldn't get there at the time that was convenient for them, she was able to put the time later enough for me to be able to still come. I came late and brought my sister with me, and they were still very accommodating. It was as late as six or seven, and that was the only time I had. They were very pleasant. She made me feel at home. She let me see the place, and it was so beautiful. We just fell in love with her and the place on the same day. Even though there are other beautiful places that I was referred to that were just as nice, there's something about Eileen that brought my attention back here, that makes me feel very welcomed. As we walked through the hallways, it just really lifted me. I didn't know these places were like this. I didn't know this is what senior living was like. It's been like that since I've been here. It's just very gracious and very beautiful. I brought my friends here to see it. They're very impressed. So, I'm good here."

"I should have brought my mother here a long time ago. We tried the more corporate places, but my mother feels happier here. The care is unmeasureable and the staff is great to work with. I am able to be her son, and enjoy our time, and not her doctor or medication nurse. "

"Cityview Villa was an incredible place and did not have a feel of a senior citizen facility. It seemed like a home that was a welcoming embrace, and my grandmother's smile was a genuine one. Her face lit up at the attention she was receiving from attendants and other seniors that began to have conversations with her. The staff was courteous and welcoming, they did not speak to my grandmother as if she was a little girl, but a person who was still an adult and just needed aid. While I was still cautious, my grandmother jumped at the chance to belong at this facility, after seeing her lose so much of herself, it was incredible to see her interact with others. Fantastic facility! "

"Rancho Village was very good. Everything, the rooms, and the staff were excellent. The price didn’t meet my mom’s income, but everything else was good. They had a library and a lot of activities. "

"Solheim Lutheran Home was nice, but it had a buy-in, and I couldn't afford it. My friends recommended it. They had activities and different levels of care. If the person gets really bad and had to be hospitalized, they had that there. It's all inclusive. The room was very small and you had to bring in your own furniture. They were redoing the bathrooms. They had step-in showers and I was really concerned about my mom having to step over a tub or step into a shower. It was a very old facility, but I liked the carpeting on the floor. The staff was very nice. I wasn't impressed with the dining area because it didn't have tablecloths or flowers on the table."

"Palm Court was a lovely place. Everything was luxurious. The problem is the money it would cost to be in that place. You pay for what you get. Nevertheless, what stood out to me is the freshness of the place, how it has been maintained, and how it has been kept up-to-date and fresh-looking. There is also a nice little place where they have coffee and juice bar. They also have the staff do your laundry for you. It is very much resort type feeling there. They showed us different size rooms, and the rooms were OK."

"We toured for my aunt and uncle. We liked that one. We really liked one of the rooms a lot because it had a patio, and it was very spacious outside. The people were nice. The staff was very nice and helpful, too. They had a lot of amenities and activities for the residents to enjoy."

"I toured Westmont of Culver City. The facilities are very new. It is very nice, clean and organized. It looks like there's a lot of space, and the staff seems to be quite professional. The staff members were very responsive, too. They greeted us quickly and they took care of us. They seemed very helpful and professional. They offered us some snacks and drinks, but we didn't take any. The atmosphere felt okay but it felt like a shopping mall. The layout of the rooms was very modern. There are wide hallways and high ceilings, so it felt very open."

"Fountain Glen at Valencia was the cleanest facility and best maintained of any that I visited. Sanitation was very good. I will have my own kitchen and I will be cooking my own food like I do in my own home. I don't need medical assistance in anyway. I haven't moved in there, I've just reserved the apartment that I want. "
