"It was very friendly, the residents and staff have much to offer as far as outings go, and I was impressed with their transportation. They were kind enough to pick me up at my son's house, take me to the facility, take me back home, and it was really a very nice and enjoyable two or three hours that I was there. The food was delicious and I was very impressed. I wish they had more apartments than just one. Other than that, everything else was fine."

"I was in Simi Hills for a couple of months. It was a very nice place, and the service was very good. They came in once a week, changed our linens, vacuumed, and dusted. There was a dining room for meals. I had a little apartment with a fairly good sized living room, at one end a little kitchenette, and it had a separate bedroom and bath. They had the usual activities like bingo and crafts. "

"My visit to Ivy Park at Burbank was interesting. It was a little pricier than I expected it to be for the location and the type of amenities, but it was nice, very clean, and presented very well."

"I had been down to Sparr Heights Estates Senior Living many times, and I visited the memory care facility recently. They're right in the middle of the downtown area in Montrose. It seems to be well-staffed. They had just switched over to the new company when I did my walkthrough. It's a nice facility. They provide three meals a day and they told me that my aunt could have a special diet. It's not really a special diet, it's just what she's used to having. They seem to be operating trying to please the patients. However, I haven't cared too much for the person they have to make all the decisions of all my aunt's needs and stuff. She has been very hard to get a hold of. She has been sort of unapproachable. My aunt lives in Malibu right now, and she said, "Oh, I don't cover Malibu." They've got a lot of activities. Each room has its own bathroom. My aunt needs assistance in preparing and getting out of the shower, and they have a special showering facility for those people. Their parking is street parking, and you have to hunt for a place to go. So that was a downfall as far as parking facilities. However, the memory facility is on the first floor with their own private outdoor patio. They can have gardening and little things like that."

"I toured Oakmont of Agoura Hills Independent Living. There were already residents there. The layout was very convenient. They had a lot of facilities there. I shared a luncheon with one of the ladies there, and it was a very pleasant place. They have game rooms, and they have activities of all kinds. It is just a very comfortable and very nice place to retire at some point in time. They have cards, they have other types of games, and they have services that would take you for doctors' appointments and things like that. The staff member who accommodated me was a very pleasant lady, and she did a super good job. She was not pushy because she understood that I was not ready to actually make a move. She was a very pleasant lady who did a fantastic job of showing me around the different areas and things of that nature. The place was very pleasant. They had all the needs that a stationary person would want to have enjoyment, pleasure, and particularly meeting other people."

"My grandfather was in the Belmont assisted-living home in Hollywood, California. He really liked it here. I liked it too but was very concerned about what kind of care he might be receiving (or not receiving) when we were not present. We received multiple calls informing us he had fallen from standing or fallen out of his wheel chair and gotten hurt. In my experience, all the staff was very friendly. The facility was very clean and my grandfather had a nice room. My grandmother did not like the Belmont assisted living home. I never understood why. She may have just been more concerned with keeping herself out of it versus anything to actually do with my grandfather or the assisted living home. I do not like the location of the assisted living home. Hollywood is no place for the elderly to live. It is way too noisy and bustling. "

"The Ridge at Westlake Village was very tidy, nice, and new. I hardly saw any residents, and it seemed kind of empty. It has a beautiful deck on the top, but you're not looking out at anything very pretty. They're just buildings. It just seemed not personal at all. It was very nicely done, but that was it. The rooms were very nice, but the whole thing kind of felt a little cold. We didn't see much interaction with anybody, so you didn't get a real feel for it. The dining area looked nice. The whole thing was nice and brand new. They have a patio on the roof, and it is beautiful. However, there wasn't much ambiance. It was really well done. Parking was easy, and it was very nice, but it didn't have much feel to it. The staff was nice, but wasn't nearly as enthusiastic as the lady at the other place. I didn't try their food, but they gave us a box of probably the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had in my life."

"So far, my stay here at Scholl Canyon Estates Gracious Retirement Living has been good. It's a very nice community with very nice administration. They are very accommodating. The people are great, and I've made several friends since I've been here. They might need a little improvement in their food, but they had good choices. Everything is nice and very well kept up. The staff is the one that's a plus to me, in how gracious they are for whatever it is that you need. They have a few staff that need some training, but overall, they're very good. The building is very clean and very presentable, with pictures on the wall. Everywhere you walk, it's just beautiful. They have activities and things, and they're going to have a line dance pretty soon. They take you on trips and shopping, too. They have games here and movies. I haven't attended any of those activities yet because I have things outside of this already that I have to get together before I can settle in. It's a bit pricey when I compare it to others, but they are kind of neck and neck with a majority of these facilities. When I talked to the head, Eileen, she was just kind of impressive to me because she was very down-to-earth. That was the first time I've dealt with any type of retirement living place, and they are the first ones that I called, and Eileen just made me feel so comfortable. She helped me get past my fears and encouraged me to come over and see her, talk with her, and see the place. Even though I couldn't get there at the time that was convenient for them, she was able to put the time later enough for me to be able to still come. I came late and brought my sister with me, and they were still very accommodating. It was as late as six or seven, and that was the only time I had. They were very pleasant. She made me feel at home. She let me see the place, and it was so beautiful. We just fell in love with her and the place on the same day. Even though there are other beautiful places that I was referred to that were just as nice, there's something about Eileen that brought my attention back here, that makes me feel very welcomed. As we walked through the hallways, it just really lifted me. I didn't know these places were like this. I didn't know this is what senior living was like. It's been like that since I've been here. It's just very gracious and very beautiful. I brought my friends here to see it. They're very impressed. So, I'm good here."

"The facility is very nice and well maintained. The staff is very professional and ready to help out at any moment. They offers many different activities for residents to enjoy and manage to create a very nice environment for residents. The apartments are fairly nice and appear to be a nice place to live. The facility provides a well equipped gym for member. The area surrounding the buildings is nice and very charming. Residents appear to be comfortable and happy with the environment which is always a good sign. Residents have said the staff is very good and ready to help out. One problem I have heard is the facility could be cleaner, though it seems that it is fairly well taken care of. Over all it appears to be a nice place and some residents appear to be happy there. It isn't the perfect place to be but from what I have heard it isn't too bad. "

"Atria Grand Oaks was pretty. They had the levels of care that we wanted. However, the rooms were not of the size that my brother-in-law wanted. They were small. One of the things that was kind of a disadvantage was the fact that social activities were located on different floors. It was kind of a disadvantage for people who have problems going up and down the elevator like him. Whitney, the salesperson, was outstanding. She did a wonderful job. We were there for lunch, and the food was outstanding. "
