"Carriage Crossing of Rochester appears to be a new facility. However, at the time I was there, I did not see any residents engaged in the activities. It's probably 3 to 4 years old. I toured the facility, and it looked to be fine. They had amenities, too. They had onsite physical therapy and an onsite beauty salon. The staff who gave the tour were very knowledgeable. They appeared to have been in this business a very long time."

"I am a resident of Illinois Presbyterian Home. I just like the staff and the way they care for the people who need care. We have very good meals. They cook and the independent people have to go to the other building to eat. If you don't want to go outside and eat, you wouldn't like independent living. But I think the nursing staff does a good job of taking care of the people that live there. They have a library, an activity director, and she does lots of things with the ones that live in that building. We have exercises in both buildings. I lived in two other communities, and Illinois Presbyterian Home was more my type, and the cost was not as high as where I moved from."

"I recently placed my mother here. The management is very nice and attentive to us. I eat with my mother often and the food is very good. I was pleasantly surprised by the food being so good being it is a nursing home. The activities are wonderful. They involve the people that live there and are sweet to them. I have enjoyed seeing the updates to the building and hear there are many more to come. Oak Terrace is a blessing to my mother and our family. "

"This is a wonderful facility! The staff is very caring and polite...from the office, front desk, custodians, CNAs, nurses, food service. The facility has no smell, it is well lit, roomy halls and rooms, and good sized bathrooms. Nicely decorated rooms...more like a hotel. It is always clean and the staff is extremely helpful. They will treat your loved one with the respect and dignity they deserve in the final moments of their lives. "My aunt is in the Bridge Care Suites right now. We like the place. My aunt is flourishing. She's 96, and she's doing incredible there. The food is very good, and the facility is very clean. The people who work there are wonderful. For a skilled care center, it's a very warm environment. It's not cold like some of them. She's always busy with activities. They have activities and play cards. There are common spaces. There are little alcoves. They have short term rehab, and they have nursing. My aunt is in nursing care. They have on-site rehab, so she's getting exercise and getting stronger."

"I don't really care for Capitol Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. My friend's room was fairly spacious but it was far from being clean, it was kinda dirty. They could improve on cleanliness and if there's something they can do with the smell. I met just a few of the staff there, some of them didn't seem like they really care for their jobs. They could also improve on some of their help because they weren't doing their jobs. When you first walk in it feels homey, but once you get in there and get to the care part, it feels like an institution."

"The tour with Seasons at Pine Creek was wonderful. The individual who showed us around was Debbie, and she's quite familiar with it. Seasons is privately owned by a local family. One of the members was on site each day to just come and see it. It's very, very clean. They have updated units, and they're beautiful. The 2-bedroom was just very tastefully decorated. It is independent living, but there are different services that are offered. They can also hire someone that is actually employed by seasons, if they need some assistance with something or if they need transportation to a doctor's appointment. They have a beautiful library and different meeting rooms. It's very elegant. The apartments each have a private patio. Each one has a red button in the room that if the resident does not push it by 10 o'clock at night (that is kind of the signal that everyone is kind of tucked in and OK), then they will come to your room just to make sure that you are OK and doing fine. They have carports or garages. They also have storage for when you move in and you still have a few belongings that you're not quite ready to part with. It's very reasonable: $25 for a carport and $50 for the garage. It's also located on the far west side of Springfield, so almost out and in a good part of town. I can say that since I live up here. It is close to a couple of nice medical facilities. They just seemed very accommodating, and I don't think that it's going to take very long to move in. They have an expedited list that's for those individuals who know they're ready to come. Also, the cost is extremely reasonable. It varies from maybe $1,800 to $2,000 and that includes all utilities except for phone and cable. They have somebody that's an individual that works for them that goes and takes orders from anybody who wants food from a cafeteria (which is a really popular place with older people up here), and they will bring food in for an order. The only negative that I have found is that you sign a 1-year lease. You don't have to pay more for a second person, and that's a good thing. It's my understanding that if one of them passes and the remaining one has to go to assisted living, you are still responsible for the remainder of the year's lease. That would be about the only negative, but it's still less expensive than most of the others. They gave me a packet for both of the rooms we saw. I guess they're identical and pretty much the same price, but there are 4 or 5 different floor plans; some of them are more about the bathrooms being more handicapped-friendly and really large. They've got the linen closets on the other sides. It's quite sufficient for two people. They have a nice dining room. In the kitchen, they have this little counter that you could put a little cup, a little short stool under them, or it is perfect for putting a wheelchair under if you have somebody in a wheelchair. They do not provide meals. They are independent living, so you have a full kitchen (which is nice). Unless somebody needs meals, they don't provide them. I know with older people, sometimes one big meal a day is sufficient. They can always order their food though. You can order up from Wal-Mart and some other places. They have pharmacy delivery; if not, somebody from Seasons will make sure that the prescriptions are picked up."

"My mother was at Heritage Health Therapy for quite a few years in the Alzheimer’s unit, so we were familiar with that, and dad was just there for rehab. The cleanliness and the kindness of the staff really stood out. She was in a private room for a while; she has a private bathroom and very nice big open window, and she could bring personal things in. There is a telephone in her room. Meals were included while she was there, and the food portions were good. She can order whatever she wanted. "

"I went to Seasons Under The Oaks. That's strictly independent. You get a unit that's not the greatest in size, but it's newer. And they give you a garage. If you're still driving and care about your car, they have a garage for you, but they do not provide any transportation or meals. But it's half the cost. I would save approximately anywhere between 600 to 900 a month by going there. You get a one-bedroom, living room, kitchen, and dining combo together, open with a partition, and kitchen island that divides the kitchen and dining. If you want to put a small table, you're able to put a small dining table in there because it's a kitchen dining combo. They have community rooms with microwaves, and people could bring food in to celebrate birthdays and occasions. They monitor you constantly in case of any medical conditions. They do have on-call nurses that come weekly, and you just have to let them know if you want them to check in on you. And I thought that was very nice. There's a panic button in each unit, and the manager is constantly checking up on you as far as your wellness. It's kind of a close-knit community. They had a waiting list, and I moved up on it. The staff was very informative and answered all my questions."

"Cedarhurst of Springfield was gorgeous and had everything you needed. They took me into some of the resident's rooms, showed me the layout, and they did a great job. The rooms were very spacious, very clean, and very organized. The dining area was also very nice. They even had a big fireplace. They showed me the outside gardens, the rec room, the Jacuzzi tubs that they could attend or make appointments for, craft rooms, and other areas. It's a beautiful place. The staff was very well organized, very accommodating, and very courteous. It was a very nice facility and you get what you pay for, but the price was just too high for my mom's budget."

"Wanted to share that my grandma had a wonderful experience while staying at Lewis Memorial. We felt that the staff always treated her with dignity and respect. Her room was spacious and clean. Our entire family appreciated the care that was provided at Lewis Memorial and would recommend this facility to others."

"We went to Villas Of Holly Brook & Reflections Springfield. We went through the assisted living section, and then we went on into the memory care section. The best about them is the care the residents receive, the brightness, and the apartments are big. Each person gets their own kitchenette, living room, bedroom, and large bathroom. They had exercises and different classes that kept them occupied during the day for memory, and their cafeteria was fantastic. I liked the friendliness of all the workers, anybody we met in the hallway or the people that took us on tour, and people at the desk. Everyone we met was very cooperative, very helpful, and very polite. The layout was very good. It's all on one floor. Some of the apartments looked to the outside and then they had the indoor apartments there that faced the center court where they had gardens and patio furniture and places that they could go out into that were secured for them. They had activity rooms, a movie theater, billiards in a recreational room, and an onsite beauty shop or barber shop. They kept them preoccupied pretty much all day long if they chose to do that. They offered lunch, but we already had lunch, so we just tried the milkshake. We definitely would choose that one over the other two that we had visited. The staff were all definitely top. It's very clean, very bright, and basically, one whole section was brand new in the assisted living. The memory care was only four years old, so everything was nice, new, and bright compared to the other two that we've been to."
