Our exterior doors are on a timed lock, to lock in the evenings and unlock in the mornings. Each apartment is equipped with emergency pull cords. Our facility is staffed 24 hours.

Our meals are all made from scratch, homestyle cooking. Our food is tasty with a wide variety and seasonal menus. Contact Paulette if you would like to come out and have lunch or supper with us to give it a try.

Pleasant Hill Residence has an Activity Room, Library/Sitting areas, private dining room and main dining room. All of our common areas are available to all of our residents.

Our nursing staff is available to Independent living residents in case of emergency. We do welcome home health agencies, nursing agencies, pharmacies and other agencies to assist in caring for our residents when needed.

Our Activities Department schedules a variety of entertainment, live music, games, bus trips and other fun. We have a stocked pond for fishing, or to just sit and enjoy. Our Directors work with the Activities department to schedule one on one extra time for those who benefit from independent activities. We also have a beauty shop on site.

Our staff continues education with online training as well as in-service learning.

Girard offers several things to enjoy in the community or nearby. Three public golf courses in the area all within 9 miles. One nine whole course is located in Girard. Seven minutes west of Girard there is a 200 plus acre lake to enjoy. This lake is available for boating, camping, fishing, and picnicking. Shopping is available in Girard or within a short driving distance. Several restaurants in Girard or Virden which is 4 miles to the north. In the community there are many churches to attend. There are several community events throughout the year to enjoy.

Pleasant Hill Residence has our own 24 seat bus for trips and outings. Macoupin County Public Transportation takes our residents for weekly shopping trips. Their service is also available to be scheduled for local trips around town, as well as for transportation to and from appointments.

Our Facebook page is updated daily with our scheduled activities. Pictures and additional information are often posted throughout the day. We also reach out via phone and/or email to share information and pictures.

While we do love animals, we do not allow pets. Family members are welcome to bring their pets in to visit their loved ones in their apartments.

There is always at least one person here. During the days and evenings, when our residents are the most active, there are always multiple staff members on site. Nights, late evening, weekends and holidays, there is always at least one person on site and there is always a Director on call if one of them is not in the building.

Residents are able to bring their personal vehicles with them to Pleasant Hill Residence. We do have garage bays available to rent. In addition - Pleasant Hill Residence has our own 24 seat bus for trips and outings. Macoupin County Public Transportation takes our residents for weekly shopping trips. Their service is also available to be scheduled for local trips around town, as well as for transportation to and from appointments.

We have monthly off-site bus trips, recently we have gone to the Springfield Muni, Litchfield WalMart, Brass Door and Senior Celebration at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Pleasant Hill Residence is located in Girard, which is on Historic Route 66. Pleasant Hill has nicely landscaped grounds for you to enjoy. Gazebo is located in front of the building with easy access. Small grove of trees on the front lawn provides a nice shady area on a warm summer day. Walking paths, with resting benches, continue around the Residence. West of the building is a stocked pond, with a nice sitting area, so you may enjoy the outdoors and nature. Several nice patios and porches connected to the building are available, depending on your desire to enjoy the sun or the shade.

Assisted Living residents range from 73 to 101. Pleasant Hill accepts residents starting as young as age 55. Residents enjoy a variety of activities. Some of the top activities are BINGO, bus trips, live music entertainment, and as spring approaches being outside with some type of activity.
