We chose The Reserve at Oswego for Uncle because they're exclusively memory care. Every place else was mostly assisted living with some memory care and he needs memory care. Kelly was excellent. She was not pushy. She just wanted to hear what we needed, and she was very helpful. They concentrate on people with memory care. Their bathrooms don't even have a shower because they shower them in a special facility. They do their laundry at the same time. They have a very nice outside area, which is important. They have everything you could think of. He can get his haircut there. They have a nurse on call. They have everything that he would need.

The Reserve of Oswego is not like an assisted living or advanced assisted living. It's more like a nursing home. The rooms were very small. There's no privacy for the residents. There's a really high smell of cleaners and air fresheners. The staff was very nice. She's very informational, definitely someone that's been doing it for a long time, and answered a lot of questions. Initially, when I went there, it's probably not a good time to bring people in to tour the place. It would be better if they didn't have like a big group of residents sitting there when you come in. We walked past their dining area. There wasn't a lot of information about their dining or food options or anything, which was kind of one of the put-offs for me. It's for memory care. They're all in wheelchairs, walkers, and chairs. I didn't see any actually walking around. It's pretty much a hospital setting. It's very small, which for an individual that had that serious type of need, it's really good, because it's a small area. They have a center outside garden area that's nice for the residents, so they're not just in their rooms all the time. It's a nice setup for that type of medical need. It's just not something that I would feel comfortable having my mom in.

My wife is in The Reserve at Oswego. It's a nice place. I'm there every day, twice a day, I talk to them on a regular basis. It's very good communication between the facility and myself. I'm very happy with it. I have no complaints at all about the facility. She has a very comfortable, private room, it's a pretty good size, and everything that we need is there. It's a relatively new facility, probably only three or four years old. They have quite a few activities, but my wife is not partaking that much. I have no complaints about the food. It's only five minutes from my house, and that's another big plus.
