ALIYA of Homewood

I went to ALIYA of Homewood. The problem I had was getting through to their phone lines. I would call, and sometimes nobody would answer, or then somebody would answer and transfer me to the wrong person. They seem to have high turnover, as the social worker I talked to had only been there a month, and that's kind of a warning sign. The patients were in a community room doing things, but the activity room was not that big. I just wasn't overly impressed. They were serving food around lunchtime, and it did not look appetizing to me. The staff was nice, the place was clean, and they have a nice outdoor area for them to sit in. It is a modern-looking place. During the tour, everyone was nice. The person who gave me the tour explained things very well. The other staff I ran into, including some nurses, were nice as well.

I really have nothing good to say about it. The staff is terrible. They have a couple there that are fantastic and they have a couple that are just terrible. One lady pushed a wheelchair at Mom and told her to get in it. She wheeled herself to the bathroom. The building is fine and the rooms are OK, but the food is lousy. They gave them one piece of bacon, one egg, and a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast today.
