Uptown Care & Rehab Center

My mom is at Uptown Care and Rehab Center. She had someone in the room with her at first, but they're gone now. They cleaned up her room now, and it's looking better, but it still needs improvement. It's like an agency, so they swap out nurses. The nurses really don't know the patients that well. They have a new nurse every other day. They have activities. They do little events around holiday time.

We have no money for a 24-hour care, so we're placing mom in a nursing home. I've toured a couple other places and they weren't as nice as Medamerica Rehab. It is in an older building, but it's been revamped. It is very clean, well kept, and no smell at all. I didn't see anybody that was screaming or crying like in some facilities. The staff was very friendly and they do have different kinds of activities. I think the only thing they didn't have is a beauty shop, but that is in the works. It's in a neighborhood setting rather than out off a big highway. My son lives about six blocks from the facility, so he's going to be able to visit mom.
