Accepted Answer

There is a bus stop within walking distance which allows residents full access to all of Columbus.  We have several restaurants and plenty of places to shop, and are conveniently located to Ft Benning for our Vets.

What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at Outback Care Group III during daytime and nighttime hours?

Accepted Answer

Our staff to resident ratio is 1 staff member for every 6 residents.  However Monday through Friday the supervisor and the administrator are on site as well.

What makes the chef or dining program at Outback Care Group III exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?

Accepted Answer

We are a family style personal care home, so imagine having the home cooked meals you grew up with.  We also accommodate those that have special dietary needs, especially those who are diabetic, we offer healthy alternative and a carb count with every meal.

We do not allow pets.

What programs or activities does Outback Care Group III offer to enrich residents' well-being?

Accepted Answer

Most of our residents go to the Senior Centers in town as a way to get involved in different activities and to socialize with other.  When at home, they are part of a small family, and we try to do things they enjoy, from movie nights, to game night, monthly birthday parties, and summer cook outs, which seem to be their favorite thing to do.  We also provide home health services, such as skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy and cognitive therapy for those who would benefit from it.

What transportation services does Outback Care Group III offer to assisted living residents?

Accepted Answer

We have several resources available for those who are independent enough to travel by themselves, using different transportation companies including those that can assist those in wheelchairs.  For those who are not able to travel independently Outback Care Group will provide transportation and oversight.

Question 7

What safety features or security measures does Outback Care Group III offer to assisted living residents?

Accepted Answer

We have in all 3 homes a live in care provider that have had background checks, have completed CPR, First Aid, Fire Safety and Medication Training.  We also have 2 RN's on staff that do visits twice a month and are 
on call 24 hours / 7 days a week for any concerns or questions.  We have cameras in all the houses shared living areas to ensure that we, the owners and the management have access to record and see our homes, our residents and our staff to ensure the safety of all.  We do not have cameras in the bedrooms or bathrooms.  We have alarms on all exit doors to alert staff at all times when people are coming in and out of the house.  All vendors and visitors are required to sign in and show identification for the safety of our residents.

How does Outback Care Group III keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?

Accepted Answer

During the admissions process we find out what type of communication they prefer and what they want communicated to them. Most families prefer an email unless there is an emergency.  We also set up patient portal accounts at all of our residents doctors office and they would have access to that as well.  Most of the time unless there is a change in their behavior, medication, overall health or there is a new diagnosis that may need to be addressed,  the family will communicate with their loved one.  However the family members are provided with the direct phone number to the house, the care providers cell phone number and the office number which automatically calls both the supervisor and administrators cell phones as well as the office email address.

Describe the overall population of assisted living residents at Outback Care Group III. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?

Accepted Answer

Outback Care Group III, is a 6 person residential home.  Average age of residents is 63.  Most of them enjoy the outdoors, anything from gardening in our garden, walking the walking trails, outdoor cookouts and socializing with the other residents.  We have 2 other homes that neighbor this home, so it allows the opportunity to live in a residential home, but still have access to many friends and activities.
