Nursing Home Communities in Phenix City, AL

"We liked our tour of Magnolia Manor of Columbus skilled nursing level. The place was really clean and the people that we talked to were very knowledgeable, very kind, and took the time to explain things. They helped us understand the process and also made us understand that my husband might not be accepted because they have a way of not overloading themselves with patients that need extreme help, and they had a limit on the number of patients that they can take because they want to make sure that they are giving the patients the right care. But they were extremely helpful in helping us navigate these waters, and in telling us what they offer and could offer. We were able to go into the cafeteria. It was extremely clean, the food looked nutritious, and healthy. We talked to a couple of patients who were out in the hallway in wheelchairs, and asked them about their thoughts of the place and how they like it. One gentleman said it's OK there, and it's much better there than to be out in the street, and he said that the food was really good. The staff said that they do exercises, they have different kinds of entertainment for them to come in, and yesterday they had a Mardi Gras party for them. They also have accommodations to take them outside."

"Upon arrival Spring Harbor appeared to be more of a resort than a assisted living facility. I was impressed as soon as i entered the gate with beautiful landscaping and grounds keeping. Some of the units are bigger and nicer than other units but all of high quality. The staff is super friendly without any sort of retirement home or hospital feel. The first thoughts of taking my grandmother to an assisted living facility were reserved but after my first visit all doubts were set free. All in all, spring harbor is not a bad place to be and i would consider living there if i live long enough! "

"My husband was in Orchard View for rehab, and I wanted to get him out of there as soon as possible. It's a nursing home, you can get rehab there too. They do not keep you informed about anything. My husband is deaf and I have to be informed of what's going on. I'm a hands-on person, I'm not one who just sticks him over there and leaves him. I want to know everything that goes on. I never got to see him when he was in there. I would have to keep calling to ask how he was doing, and they'd say, "Oh, he's doing fine," but that's not enough for me. I want to know specifically how he's doing and they didn't tell me that. I was never in his room, I couldn't go in because of COVID. His blood count got down so low and he was bleeding also. They had to call me and have him taken to the hospital. I don't think it should have gotten that low. They should have done something about it before it got that bad. The place was very clean but it was sterile, it didn't feel so homey at all. The only part I had ever been in was when you walk in the door and it's like you're in some institution. I never saw a single person there. Nobody was around wherever you went. At his current facility, you see activity all the time. I would take something over for him, I would bake, and they would say they couldn't give it to him. I don't see why not. I know the COVID thing is something we need to be careful about but there has to be some other way of doing things than just saying he can't have it. He went there for rehab and as soon as that was over, I took him out."

"This facility was a little questioning. #1 I went and looked up reviews before I went to visit and what I found wasnt pleasing. The rating scale is for 1 to 5. 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. There wasnt a 4 or a 5. Every rating ranged from 1-3 and that was enough to raise my eyebrow. I decided to go take a look anyway and the staff was a little unpleasant and when I asked questions, no one seemed to know the answers. The facility itself was very clean and presentable though. Maybe this place is getting the ratings based on how they were treated when they went because I surely didnt feel welcomed. "

"In the time I visited Muscogee Manor & Rehabilitation Center, I witnessed God's work being done every single day, in every single way. The staff was courteous and well trained with their treatment and knowledge of the medicines and exactly how to give medicines and iv's. The facility was beautiful, spacious, and well equipped with all the essentials for assisted living. I visited the center countless number of times, and each time I visited, there was always a friendly person there to greet my uncle and me. With that hospitality, I cannot provide any negative feedback or commentary. It was simply amazing and an experience I will most certainly never forget. Being a native of Columbus, it is very nice to know that there is a facility like this here in my hometown that takes care of it's patients the way that it should be done. Though it was quite some distance from my home, it was always reassuring when I visited, due to the warm and friendly staff and personnel. The facility is large and meets the needs of everyone there. I can see why they are a monumental part of this community and have made such an impact in my family's life. "

"My wife and I recently started looking for a nursing facility for my ailing mother. The thing I loved about Arbor Springs was its vicinity to the East Alabama Medical Clinic. This a top notch facility and such friendly and courteous staff. The facility is very clean and well kept, actually quite brand new to the Opelika area. We referred by a friend of the owner, Mr. Porter. One of my main concerns would be speech therapy for my mother and they specialize in this type of therapy thanks to the local university emphasis on speech pathology. I thank the staff for the tour visit and while we have yet to make a decision, Arbor Springs ranks up there towards the top for our choices. "

"I would have wanted to know how truly good the people are that work there and how hard they work 24/7 . The people that work at the nursing home where my mother resides are really hard working people and they have so much love and compasion for each resident. And they keep me informed with every change that takes place with my mother. "

"I will be moving here in two weeks, and I am getting a studio apartment. I like that I can take my cats in there. The facility is very nice, and I like it that every door I go out has a place where I can sit in a rocking chair and knit. The people there are very nice. Everybody has been so nice to me and so helpful. They answered any questions I have, and everybody's attitude is so good. I am very happy with this facility. When I walk in there, it's like I've been there before. Nobody walks by that doesn't talk; everybody talks to you. I was able to speak to a gentleman, and he was very nice. He is very happy with the facility too. I know I am going to be very happy here. I can overlook a lake, and all the trees have bird houses, and so I watch the birds and the man across from me, he said they have rabbits and deer, so I am going to like this place."
