My husband was in Orchard View for rehab, and I wanted to get him out of there as soon as possible. It's a nursing home, you can get rehab there too. They do not keep you informed about anything. My husband is deaf and I have to be informed of what's going on. I'm a hands-on person, I'm not one who just sticks him over there and leaves him. I want to know everything that goes on. I never got to see him when he was in there. I would have to keep calling to ask how he was doing, and they'd say, "Oh, he's doing fine," but that's not enough for me. I want to know specifically how he's doing and they didn't tell me that. I was never in his room, I couldn't go in because of COVID. His blood count got down so low and he was bleeding also. They had to call me and have him taken to the hospital. I don't think it should have gotten that low. They should have done something about it before it got that bad. The place was very clean but it was sterile, it didn't feel so homey at all. The only part I had ever been in was when you walk in the door and it's like you're in some institution. I never saw a single person there. Nobody was around wherever you went. At his current facility, you see activity all the time. I would take something over for him, I would bake, and they would say they couldn't give it to him. I don't see why not. I know the COVID thing is something we need to be careful about but there has to be some other way of doing things than just saying he can't have it. He went there for rehab and as soon as that was over, I took him out.
