Nursing Home Communities in Roanoke, AL

"Traylor Retirement Community has probably 8 or 10 apartments for independent-living. It's close by and affordable. If we wanted to, we could probably take a lease on that and move at our leisure. It's a big community, and it's a nice, clean operation. The meals there are in addition to the monthly rent. That's more attractive because we don't usually eat a big lunch and probably not much for breakfast either. What I like about it was it was 2-bedrooms and one bath, and it was a good-sized unit, 600 sq.ft. "

"The grounds of this facility are very simple. I think more outdoor space and time for the residents would be beneficial. While working at a Mental Health Center, I took several trips to this Nursing home to encourage the adult group therapy consumers to encourage befriend those in the nursing home. The group greatly enjoyed this. I was impressed with the coordinating staff to allow our group to visit, make crafts, sing and enjoy the company of the residents at this facility. The residents enjoyed our visits very much. I was also impressed with the activities coordinator. She did a great deal of musical and muscular movements with the residents as well as crafts and games. This seemed to be like a great time the residents enjoyed. Staff was very friendly and when asked about their stay most residents, although some sad because they have few visitors, had nothing negative to say about the home. "

"This nursing home has a very friendly staff. They seem to treat each patient with care and respect. They maintain a clean facility. The employees there are aware when there is a medical concern that is more than they can handle in house. I have two relatives that are currently in this facility and they are both having a good experience at this nursing home. "

"My dad has been in Lafayette Extended Care. He is under quarantine for the past two weeks, so I haven't been able to actually see it. I am not allowed inside; everybody is quarantined. I just spoke to the people on the phone. Currently, he has a private room, but they also have shared rooms. I probably received about three to four calls from the staff so far, so that's twice a week. They have been friendly to my knowledge, and my dad seems to think so too. I have spoken with him many times. It's hard for him because he's quarantined. Other than that, he hasn't had many complaints. They have some outdoor spaces and a little courtyard area. It's a one-story building. The staff has been very helpful. It looks like a pretty nice facility."

"My father was placed here for rehab after a long hospital stay. The therapists there are great! The CNAs and nurses made sure my father was clean and comfortable during the day. Unfortunately he declined because of a long-standing medical condition. Hospice was able to be consulted through their Medical Director, who rounds regularly. The hospice nurses that come out are also wonderful! I was very impressed with the care and easy transitions while my father was there. "

"I needed rehabilitation after a hip replacement and chose Twin Fountains because it is close to my home. I did not know what to expect. I was so pleased with my choice. My days were controlled by my therapy schedule so I did not get to participate in a lot of the activities. When I could the activities were very inclusive. I attended the July birthday party which included cupcakes and gifts for the residents and patients that were celebrating birthdays. Each week there were movies and shopping outings to enjoy. I was not able to go but I sent a short shopping list with a resident. I found the staff to be very approachable and warm and professional. If the day comes that I need residential services, I am seriously considering Twin Fountains. I was able to enjoy the outdoor gardens with the ponds. I miss everyone and plan to return to visit. I want to work on a jigsaw puzzle with my friends. "
