"We toured Brookdale Newnan. It was very attractive. We looked at the independent living section, and the quarters were nice with two bedrooms. The only thing we didn't like was the living room. Maybe the room was a little smaller than we expected, but the whole facility as a whole was very nice. The cafeteria was nice, and people were especially nice. It's very modern, up to date, and has safety features, like grab bars and stuff like that. It was a convenient location, so it was very nice. Sydney was excellent. The facility was very clean and they had a little balcony."

"I toured Creekside Pines Retirement Community. We walked through all the floors, and the rooms were nice. I liked their dining hall and how they set it up to eat and get drinks and things throughout the day. I have a cat, and there was a place where the pets could play. It had all kinds of amenities that would appeal to me as an older person. The people in the office were very nice, especially the person who took me around and showed me where everything was and where the laundry was done. They had one person who did all the laundry, and she also pulled it and brought it to your room. You can get a one-bedroom rather than just a studio, which quite a few have around here. I like that you could have a bedroom and a nice kitchen. The rooms were painted freshly, and there wasn't a dirty corner. Everything was in place. It's well taken care of, even though I didn't see many people rushing around to do things."

"We looked at Silver Comet Village. It was an amazing place. It probably was not the best fit for mom, because a lot of the residents in memory care didn't need as much care as she did, which is why we didn't choose it. They didn't accept her for that reason. She needed more care than the staff they had. But, it was all extremely nice, and you would get a lot for the money. The staff was over the top good, and the rooms were big and nice."

"My brother went to Carrollton Club. The place is very nice, very clean, and very quiet. I think they serve them one meal a day, and then they cook for the rest of it. They have their own kitchen and everything. It's a bedroom, a living room, and a full kitchen with a stove and refrigerator. They can have a pet. It's about $200 extra for a pet, just one and not over 20 pounds. It's convenient to the VA and pretty close to the hospital. They have bus service three days a week. They take you to the grocery store and to places that you need to go inside the county. I think it's a very good place. If I had to be by myself and have a place to live, I wouldn't mind living there. It's not like your house, of course, but I would feel safe there. Everyone that we've met over there has been very friendly and very cooperative. I didn't have any contact with the staff. My husband did, and he was pleased. They were easy to work with and very helpful. They have a cleaning service, a garbage service, and a laundry room (not in their apartment, but in the building that is convenient and very reasonably priced). I think he's going to be pleased there. He has to pay his electric bill. They have a lot of open spaces, dining rooms, and things that people can gather and associate with each other. I thought it was a nice setup."

"It was built back in the eighties and it's been in our county since we moved over here, so it's well established, right behind the major shopping areas. It's convenient to church. It has kind of an eighties look, townhouses, the main building, kind of those homes with fields and the grounds. It's real homey. I got a small apartment because it's just me. It's 600 square feet, but well designed, and all the spaces used well. It's real good for wheelchairs and walkers. The doors are wide enough. It's probably time to get more upgrades, but it's absolutely fine with us because we eat over at the main building anyway, so I don't do a lot of cooking or anything. The dining area is real nice. They take real good care of us and the food is good. It's not filet mignon, but it's all healthy, and it's all what we need. It's nutritious food and there's not a lot of sweets to make us not feel good. They try to take good care of us, and we get all our food groups for sure. It's always warm. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. It's a real happy place. Every day, you get to do bingo, you can do art, and you got different choices of different things you can do. You can go out to church, but you can have church there, too. We have book studies. We do yoga and exercise. The facility really works well for us all."

"It was nice. It was well-spaced out and very quiet. They offered activities for independent living people. The apartment I saw was very nice and very comfortable for one person. When I stepped into the community, it also felt comfortable."

"I liked Claiborne at Newnan Lakes, but at the time, it was too expensive for me. They have happy hours on Fridays. I don't drink though, so it's not the alcohol that I'm looking for, it's more the music and the dancing. The facility is beautiful. The people are fantastic and friendly. The lady was just wonderful. The place is spotless. They have activities. I couldn't tell for sure if they have the dancing that I like, but I like the atmosphere. I still have the paperwork, and I wish I could afford it."

"I toured Ashlynn Ridge 55+ Apartments. It's a newer community that has a lot of activities for seniors. It has a lot of help with the subsidies that they get to keep the cost of the place down for the residents. It's much cheaper than the usual senior living place and very cost-effective. Everyone seemed very friendly, but they didn't have openings for new residents. They have the option for the dining area or they can cook their own, it depends on what they want. The units are nice and new."

"I looked at a place named The Phoenix at Dallas. It's independent living and the place has cottages. The one I visited was a one-car garage unit and I liked it. It has two large bedrooms, and the master bedroom can hold a king-sized bed while the other can hold a queen-size bed. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and a pretty nice-sized bathroom. The other bedroom has a regular closet and another bathroom, so the place has two full bathrooms with showers. There's a pretty nice kitchen with all the things that you want in it like the refrigerator with an ice maker. It has a sink where you can put barstools. It has a nice-sized pantry. The living room is small but it has a washer and dryer that comes with the apartment. Going out each of the bedroom doors has a patio. There are two patios, one in the front and one in the back. All the bills are paid including the water and the electricity. The cottages cost a little bit more but you don't have to do lawn care. They provide meals at a minimal cost. You just have to order 24 hours in advance if you want it delivered to your cottage. I met the assistant director and he was very helpful. The atmosphere is peaceful and the people are very friendly. They have an activity building with a swimming pool. They also have an outside area where you can play checkers. It's a new facility and a beautiful community. It's a little costly but there are ways to help you pay for it. They also give discounts for veterans and their spouses so you have ways to get help through the VA."

"My mom moved into Amberley Senior Living. The staff is very nice. The people are very personable. They listen to what your needs are, and they were very cordial when you went to visit and have questions. The room is very nice. I don't remember all the activities. I know they do bingo. They do some exercises. Those are only a couple of things I can think of at the moment."

"I’m on a waiting list at Hearthside for two years and I know I’m close to the top of the list. The place is just close and walking distance to shops, walking passed restaurants. The rooms have built-in kitchen, solid countertop bar, and you have option to a 1 or 2-bedroom or even 1 or 2-baths. I like it a lot because of where it is. It’s my first choice. The staff seem very cordial and nice. The place is full and everybody seems to be happy there. It’s probably the most attractive to me and my wife. We’re handicap but we’re still able to live independently. I’m legally visually impaired and my wife has Parkinson’s, but we’re able to get around. We need each other’s help, so we need to find a place that’s really conducive for our lifestyle, where we can cook our own meals and be able to fellowship with others like us in our age group. The place has a movie theater, screened porch, garden spots and walking trails. "

"My brother is now at Spring House at Lithia Springs. The biggest reason why we chose this place was the cost. It seemed very reasonable for what looked like a very nice-sized room with a bathroom. The facilities looked nice, and the food and the service seemed top-notch. They have different activities that are included in the price, so I like that. I haven't tried the food, but my brother speaks highly of it. They have painting classes, water aerobics at a local pool, they have Bible studies, they have the usual bingo, and movie nights, and some animals come in to visit. It seems that the staff is very caring and sincere."
