"My mom is now at Holly House. It has been an awesome experience. Five minutes after we got there, she ditched the wheelchair and she started walking again. She got some independence. They help her with the issues that she needs. It could not have been a better process. The gentleman who showed me the different places was amazing. It was home-run basically. It stood out way, way above the rest. The food smells good, and my mom has no complaints. The staff knows her well. She knows what my mom can eat and what she likes and they cook everything there, so it is amazing. The staff has been fantastic. The place is sparkling clean, and it fits my mom's needs. They actually moved her to a bigger room when they had a chance. She now has an access to a bathroom off of her room. They're going above and beyond to try to help her. I highly recommend this place."

"The staff at Parc at Piedmont was excellent and nice. The physical appearance and atmosphere was excellent. They had a pool and a lot of activities. The room was very cheerful and nice. "

"The Lodge at Bridgemill was nicely done. The furnishings and decorations were traditional looking; however, compared to the other community, it was much more updated. It is a newer place, so I got a good impression. The person who helped me was very nice and helpful. They have a nice outdoor pool, a patio area, an art room, a big library, and lots of gathering places."

"Sandy Springs Senior Homes, LLC was a small community. They have a lot of extra touches that I didn't find in some of the other communities, most notably someone available 24/7 at the front desk for an independent living community. I thought that was very important. The size of the units was very nice. There are close to about 67 residents, so just the small nature of the community was more conducive for my mom. The socialization and the services that they offered I thought were a little bit more personalized. Also, they have everything my mom needs."

"I'm staying in Sanford Estates. I like the other residents that live here. Part of the amenities is that I get three meals a day in their dining room. It's clean and it's active. Plus, it has a bus that I can use to go to my doctors' appointments."

"Ignite at Palmetto Park was a nice community, but they didn't have a vacancy. The staff was very nice. It was clean."

"Stewart House was nice but the rooms were very small. Each room has a small patio. It’s on a busy street, but they have land around back. The dining room is very pretty and the staff that gave me the tour was nice. "

"I visited Amberley Senior Living. It's beautiful; it's almost like having your own little home. You get two bedrooms, two baths, and you have a little carport, you don't have to worry about parking. Everything is on one floor, that's good. They look like little cottages. It's very nice and very clean. It's a little gated community. The staff was wonderful. She did everything she could to try to help me. They don't fix your food."

"I looked at a place named The Phoenix at Dallas. It's independent living and the place has cottages. The one I visited was a one-car garage unit and I liked it. It has two large bedrooms, and the master bedroom can hold a king-sized bed while the other can hold a queen-size bed. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and a pretty nice-sized bathroom. The other bedroom has a regular closet and another bathroom, so the place has two full bathrooms with showers. There's a pretty nice kitchen with all the things that you want in it like the refrigerator with an ice maker. It has a sink where you can put barstools. It has a nice-sized pantry. The living room is small but it has a washer and dryer that comes with the apartment. Going out each of the bedroom doors has a patio. There are two patios, one in the front and one in the back. All the bills are paid including the water and the electricity. The cottages cost a little bit more but you don't have to do lawn care. They provide meals at a minimal cost. You just have to order 24 hours in advance if you want it delivered to your cottage. I met the assistant director and he was very helpful. The atmosphere is peaceful and the people are very friendly. They have an activity building with a swimming pool. They also have an outside area where you can play checkers. It's a new facility and a beautiful community. It's a little costly but there are ways to help you pay for it. They also give discounts for veterans and their spouses so you have ways to get help through the VA."

"I toured Foster Place Senior Living. This one has two bedrooms, one bath, and a spacious plan. It has an eat-in kitchen, refrigerator, dishwasher, rocking chair, front porch, and a washer and dryer hookup. They also have a lot of other activities, like a courtyard pavilion, residential activities, storage availability, close to shopping and dining, and a dog park within walking distance. That place was really nice. They're pretty nice-sized rooms where you could put a queen-sized or king-sized bed. The yards are very well taken care of. You can park right in front of your apartment, and I think there are about one or two parking spots. They were very friendly. It's a little older facility, but they've done a lot of remodeling."

"The hallways at The Legacy at Walton Mill were so long and I couldn't walk very far, but the staff was very nice and very good. The rooms have a kitchen, a living room, doesn't have a dining room, but it's got a bar area, a small bedroom, and a bathroom. It's very nice but it's just the rooms were small for me."

The only challenge was the only available apartments were a considerable distance from the eating area and the mobility was an issue for my mom. It was a brand new place and it looked lovely. They had a pool and a nice exercise room."
