"My sister-in-law moved into Sumter Retirement Village. It's a lovely place. From the moment we drove up and parked, I was overwhelmed. It blew every expectation I had. I did not expect it to be as beautiful and well-kept as it was. The grounds are beautiful. The place had three televisions, some couches, and some people were sitting around. It was clean, and it smelled nice. It was just a welcoming sight. They offer three meals a day and two snacks. They have a big kitchen, a large staff, and a lovely dining room that opens to a screen porch and a courtyard with a gazebo and chairs. Then, it overlooks a farm area where the cows and other animals come up and entertain everybody. Aside from that, they offer to do their laundry and dispense their medications, and there's a pharmacy in the area that delivers the meds once you get registered. They have all kinds of activities, daytime activities. A lot of women are playing cards. There's always something going on. There's a big event going on at all times. And then they also offer trips into town. They put everybody in the van and take them into town for lunch at one of the restaurants once a month or once every other month. They take them to special things happening in the town of Plains and offer trips to doctors, dentists, and whatever else they might need. My sister-in-law loves the food. We had lunch there one day, and the food was very good. It was very well-balanced. They have a menu that they can look at for the week ahead. And if they don't like something on the menu, they could work on substitutes. There are options at the bottom of the menu where they can choose different things."
