My friend is currently in Gulfport Rehabilitation Center. The whole first floor is being remodeled because they got flooded by a hurricane. So he's on the second floor. Once they get that done, that'll be nice. The only bad thing is that they don't have transportation. He can't go to the grocery store because, for some reason, I don't know if their bus is destroyed or what. It looks all right, but it doesn't run. The staff is good, and residents always play bingo in the afternoon.

There were about 2-3 nurses that were very friendly and accommodating to my parents and myself during my visits. Because my parents were so much younger than many of the residents and they had hopes of recovering and being on their own one day the nurses seem to resent them and restrict them from what seemed like normal access to visiting their families and being outside of the nursing facility. The therapy was a joke for my parents, although they seemed to give attention to some other patients. My step dad who had broken his pelvis in half received about 2 hours of therapy while there and when he asked to work on steps they ignored his request. My mother who suffered a brain injury was neglected and looked at like she was annoying, obnoxious, and a problematic patient to the facility. They did not take the time to understand her brain injury to know that she was very child like and had to re-learn most of her normal functions, instead they accused her of "faking it". I am thankful for those two nurses who were great to my parents and myself!
