Kare Assisted Living was just as bad as the nursing home my father went to. My father was there for eight or nine months. He fell several times, we were not informed that he had fallen until we went to visit him, and found his face swollen and bruised. It was bad. The day I tried the food, it was tasty. But they gave the patient soup every single day for lunch. So my father had soup for the eight or nine months that he stayed there. One of the soups they used to serve, and they did it several times, they served shrimp soup. And the shrimp had the skin on it. And the first time we realized that happened, we thought it was a mistake. But the bowl of soup all had shrimp had the shell on. They had a library, but they didn't bring the patients to the library. They didn't read anything to the patients. They had a tiny area where it was one table four with four chairs. There were a few puzzles, all the parts were mixed in, so you didn't know which pieces were for which puzzle. In reality, there was no therapy or no activities. The room was just four walls, painted gray. There's no picture frame yet. The beds are just bed sheets on a pillow. The blanket is folded. It's not homey. These residents live there. And they are treated like something. They're not treated like human beings. They're just sitting in a wheelchair all day long. They over-medicate them so that they don't have to do a lot of work, so they don't have to be bothered with the patient. And that is not how you treat a human being who is 84 years old. Just because the rest of the staff and the owner are young, that doesn't mean you're going to mistreat your elderly.

The Kare Assisted Living facility was recommended by a friend in the region as an option for my friend's mother. The pretty backyard features many places for seniors to enjoy around the grounds safely. The property also had plenty of park-like space with tranquil, large trees and nicely manicured lawns. It seemed like a really nice community with a home-style atmosphere. We could see that the residents there are content and well cared for when we arrived. As we walked through the building, we could see that the interior design was nicely ordered and easy to navigate. Each room had nice views with a calming, yet not boring décor featuring lots of fresh air and light. The main dining room had a comfortable and spacious decor. The residents are offered healthy, home-style cooked meals in a casual restaurant setting. The food looked and smelled delicious, as well as healthily prepared. The menus included many interesting dishes, as well as the usual American fare. Healthy snacks are offered regularly throughout the day and whenever residents desire them. The exercise center includes daily yoga and aerobics exercise classes. The equipment is available throughout the day. Residents can also safely navigate the lovely garden pathways and courtyards. The private rooms were decorated tastefully with a homey, light and airy atmosphere. Each unit has nice views of the surrounding area. Bathrooms were designed with safety seats and rails. The many activities include a calendar of events with many fun ways to exercise from nature walks to opportunities to enjoy all that the region offers. The residents all looked very well taken care of by and seemed content with the kind and caring staff. It is clear that the seniors are enjoying this stimulating, yet peaceful living environment.
