"Henrietta's Leven Oaks was excellent. My mom stayed there and I would recommend them. They went over and beyond the call of duty. It was an old hotel that was converted to a senior living. It's just lovely and it's got beautiful grounds. What my husband and I liked about it was that the residents would all be taken to the dining room for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So, they weren't isolated in their rooms, unless they were ill. It was just a very comfortable place, very clean, and the workers were amazing. They also have a board that shows whatever activity was planned for the day, which included painting fingernails, and some speakers or music that comes in. They plan things for Thanksgiving or Halloween. They put up decorations for Christmas with a big, beautiful Christmas tree. So, they did an excellent job with their activities. Although a lot of people were not able to participate in these activities, you would still see people doing puzzles and playing dominoes or whatever they could as their ability permitted."

"I like this community as they have nursing staff all the time, and it was more like a home to me. The apartments were really nice and new. It was cheerful, and the residents I met were pretty happy with it. They do a lot of stimulation for the residents, they have lots of activities, and they have service people that come in. I saw the salad bar, and it was pretty fresh, but I haven’t actually had a meal there yet. The staff was really helpful and friendly and they showed us all over the place. I just don’t have any bad to say about it. I thought it was really nice. "

"The rooms are smaller at Santa Anita Retirement Center, but I like the community. There was more outside area for people to sit and they have more activity rooms for the residents. The staff seemed very nice. I like the idea that they have continental breakfast for people who get up early and they didn’t have to sit in the dining room if they choose not to. They also have different activities like excursions, casinos, and museums. If they could just lower the price, that would be better. "

We offer 24/7 Care and Supervision by experienced caregivers, many of whom have been at the same facility since it opened. This provides stability and establishes a bond between our residents and the men and women who provide eldercare for them on a daily basis. All of our caretakers have been background checked and cleared by the Department of Justice Genesis has been in business since 1996. The owner is a registered nurse as well as her three children who work along side her. Doctors, psychiatrist, podiatrist home health and hospice visit all Genesis homes on a regular basis. Hairdressers too. We do not have studio apartments. "Everybody is extremely friendly. The ambience is very nice, very clean, very welcoming, and warm. I felt comfortable having my grandfather live in this environment. We are extremely impressed by Brookdale Central Whittier (Formerly Emeritus at Whittier). The rooms are good sized. They look like little apartments. It has a restroom and a living space, big enough to put a bedroom set, about the size of a studio. We were invited to come back and try a meal there; it was a nice meal, and he enjoyed it. They take them on field trips, and they have a shuttle or bus that comes to pick them up and take them to doctor's appointments as necessary or on grocery shopping trips. They have a movie room, a little pub, a library, an outdoor area, and a cafeteria. The staff is just amazing. They truly genuinely want to help us find a good home to place our grandfather in, whether it was them or somewhere else. They weren't pushy. "
